Superb tour of Makola Market
My wife and I embarked on a tour with Prince, who was a wonderful tour guide that walked us through the history of the Makola market. Excellent tour and could not recommend this higher.

Sunday shopping trip to Makola Market
My husband and I had a wonderful experience exploring the market with Prince as our guide. We went to the market on Sunday midday and it was not crowded. Prince was a very professional, helpful, and courteous guide. And he customized the experience to what we were interested in. I would recommend taking this tour and our guide, Prince.

The best way to Accra's markets
Having a tour to go through the markets was the best choice. Our guide, Prince, was knowledgeable friendly and helped us develop and fine-tune our negotiating skills at the market. I recommend this activity to anyone!

Excellent experience. Be prepared to know what you want to buy and wear closed toe shoes if you are concerned about stepping in stuff. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew his way around. He even was kind enough to help us get back to our hotel. This market is not for going by yourself as a first timer.

Micheal was kind, passionate, patient, and knowledgeable. One of my friends left an item behind (on the tour bus), he promptly called and she was able to get her item. Book this tour with Micheal. You will not regret it.

Ben was amazing! I was so glad that I went with him instead of alone as there was no way I could have navigated this market by myself. Such an amazing experience and worth every penny!

Prince was great! As a solo traveler I was on the fence about getting a guide, and I’m SO thankful I did. It would be very difficult to navigate alone. Prince taught me about different things at the market and knew exactly where to go. I felt very safe with him.

The market is generally pretty warm and welcoming, but it can also be a prime location for pickpockets. Keep your wits about you and your valuables out of sight. You may also want to use a decoy wallet or leave your purse or backpack at your accommodation.
Bring cash, shopping bags, and plenty of water, as the market can be very hot and crowded. You’ll also want to wear comfortable shoes—you may put in a lot of steps at the market.
Makola Market was once featured on an episode of No Reservations; make like Anthony Bourdain and try distilled palm wine (akpeteshie) and condensed milk toffee.
