Once in a lifetime experience!

Hans was punctual, arriving exactly on time, and we began with a journey through a local Yangshuo market. We had a small bite to eat, then picked up some "happy water" and ingredients for the class. Throughout the experience, Hans shared fascinating insights into Chinese culture - little tidbits of knowledge you can only learn from a true local! Hans is a very funny man and kept me laughing constantly. He's more than just a chef, he's an entertainer! The food was delicious, and I can't wait to try making some of it when I return home. We made beer fish, tofu, and fighting cucumber! We were joined for dinner by Hans' daughter, brother, and a friend. I got to experience what it's like to eat like a local in China - sharing stories and learning about each other's lives. I'm so glad I chose this experience on my first day in Yangshuo, as Hans and his brother gave me great tips on how to make the most of my trip. But truly, words can't fully capture how much this experience meant to me. I've made memories that will last a lifetime - and some great new friends! If you come to Yanashuo. this is an absolute must!

I had an amazing time during this cooking workshop with Hans in Yangshuo! The day started with a local breakfast and a trip to the market, where we picked out fresh vegetables and a live catfish for the famous local dish: beer fish. We even stopped to buy some very strong local rice wine — which Hans lovingly called "happy water"! The cooking took place at Hans’s home, where he guided me step by step through the recipes. We made beer fish, tofu, and a refreshing cucumber dish. His brother and nephew joined us for the meal, and it felt more like a warm family lunch than a cooking class. The food was incredibly tasty, and the whole experience gave a real insight into local life and flavors. If you're in Yangshuo and love food, don’t miss this workshop. It’s not just cooking — it’s a memory.

Our favorite day in Yangshuo!

Such a fun, delicious, and cultural day! Hans met us near the market, where we found ingredients for our meal, learned about local food customs, and even sampled a bunch of things! Hans speaks excellent English, is knowledgeable, immediately made us feel welcomed, and answered all the questions we had. We then went back to his spacious home where we had tea, prepped the meal, cracked open a beer, and got a calligraphy lesson by his brother! It was very relaxed and felt like we were spending an afternoon with friends. In the kitchen, we learned some super useful Chinese cooking skills that we are excited to try at home! Also, the dishes weren’t too complicated and used easy-to-find ingredients, so all of them can be easily recreated. Absolutely delicious as well! We loved our time drinking, eating, chatting and laughing the day away! Well worth it!

Excellent experience to learn more about Asian cuisine. The purchase in the market and the subsequent cooking has turned out to be a surprise with an excellent taste result. Hans, a great host and good cook, fun and extraordinary person. This is a very, very recommended activity.
