Danielle was delightful and informative. She has a great relationship with the vendors which makes the whole trip exceptional. The market is very good with a wide selection of meats, seafood, bread, cheeses and vegetables.
Definitely take the tour! Save room for the wine and tastings at the end.

Great information about local food and the history of the market. Expertly guided by Amy round the market whilst gathering items to eat for lunch.
Mid way though you stop for a pastry so we were glad we skipped breakfast.
Fabulous products, expert guide. Highly recommended.
Could not fault anything above and beyond expectations.
We love Toulouse.

If you love food, provenance of the produce and a sprinkle of history this is the tour for you. My husband and I spent a blissful few hours learning about the Victor Hugo Market and the stall holders and the provenance of the produce available, a treat for the senses. The time flew as our guides were very engaging, knowledgeable and super friendly.

This is a wonderful experience of sampling high quality local produce associated with the local area of Toulouse, including meats, cheeses, bread and wines, with interesting commentary, information and history. Danielle, our guide, made the experience very enjoyable with her friendly, professional approach, wide knowledge and interesting facts she provided us along the way. The tour lasted three and a half hours and was paced very well, ending with a lunch of cheeses, meats, pate and wines chosen throughout our tour. I would recommend this tour.

I was really debating whether tour would be worth it. I wondered if just exploring the market myself would be fine. I’m so glad I booked this tour after all. I learned so much about many of the vendors and local foods that I would never have known otherwise. Our guide picked some wonderful items to try along with some delicious local wines. I left feeling full for the rest of the day. And I met some really friendly fellow travelers. If you are questioning whether will be worthwhile, book it. Totally worth the price!

I waited for a long time. The guide never responded nor showed up... hope, I get a refund? I can't even tell the truth in my review
Response from Host, May 2025
Hi Pauline,
I’m very sorry again that we weren’t able to connect the day of your scheduled tour. We truly regret anytime a guest feels disappointed. Our guide was at the meeting point on time with a group of seven other participants, and we’ve confirmed that all meeting instructions were sent via Viator prior to the tour.
When we later reviewed your photos and saw that you were indeed in the area—though unfortunately not in the exact location—we contacted Viator and asked them to issue a full refund as a gesture of goodwill. We always strive to be fair and transparent, and we’re continually working to improve our communication to avoid situations like this in the future.
We wish you all the best in your travels.
Warm regards,
Jessica – Taste of Toulouse

The food tour was a high line of our stay in Toulouse. We learned a lot about food in general, French and regional food. Conversations were flowing and just fun. My son is 15 and, as a foodie, he enjoyed every minute of it. Lots of experience, new knowledge, sharing, memories which all made Toulouse special that’s to this tour! Definitely would recommend to anyone!

Loved the tour. The market on it's own was intimidating to me. The tour with Ally let me learn all about it. The foods we tried were so good. Sharing them at the wine bar was a joy. All the little tips about French foods will help with the rest of my vacation.

Highlights were being able to try different foods in the market which is difficult when travelling on my own. Good introduction to the French produce, proper cheese etiquette etc. Enjoyed the Saturday morning tour with Teana! Appreciate the food tips and places to go after the tour too.

Ally was a wonderful guide who gave us the history of the Victor Hugo Market and took us to many wonderful stalls for tastes. We also got to talk to several of the vendors. The lunch and wine at the end were terrific. Come hungry to this tour!

Our guide, Tina, was excellent, quite knowledgeable. She helped us to understand and really appreciate so many different aspects of the Victor Hugo Market in Toulouse. What an enjoyable day !! Well worth every penny.

Teana was amazing! Meeting and touring was so easy and delightful. Teana created such a wonderful experience with delicious assortments of local and traditional cheeses, meats, fruits, pastries and wines. My wife and I had the best time and it was a total highlight of our trip!

Ally was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide and made our trip to the Victor Hugo markets fun as well as a great learning experience!

The cheese shop in Victoria Hugo Place and the MOF boulangerie in the Victor Hugo Market were highlights of this tour for me. Excellent wine tasting at the end with the charcuterie, rillettes, bread and cheese. All delicious. The tour organizers have really picked out the best of the local food producers and retailers for this tour. Our guide did an excellent job, but giving honest feedback, I think it would be good to have a bit more in-depth knowledge of background and history of food in Toulouse specifically and France in general.
Response from Host, May 2025
Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the cheese shop, the MOF boulangerie, and the delicious tasting at the end of the tour—these are some of our favorite stops, too. We put a lot of care into selecting local artisans and producers who truly represent the best of Toulouse.
We also really appreciate your honest feedback about wanting a bit more in-depth background on the food culture of Toulouse and France. Sharing that context is something we’re passionate about, and we’re always working to enrich our tours with even more insights and stories. Your comments help us grow, and we’ll definitely take them to heart.
Thanks again for joining us—and for helping us celebrate the incredible flavors of our adopted hometown!
Warmly,
Jessica & the Taste of Toulouse team

We enjoyed the tour of the market immensely. Ally, our guide, was knowledgable, interesting and a gracious host. You will learn a lot about the unique Toulousian foods. The tasting at the end is perfect with a generous assortment of what you have seen. Bon Appétit!

I had a truly wonderful time with Ally and Jessica. We were a small group so that made the tour even much better. I appreciated the passion from our hosts and this history as well as all the additional information on restaurants and even things to do.
It was great to spend the morning like a Toulousiane and partake in some of their delicacies.
I truly recommend this tour!

I had such a great time on this food tour. It started with Alejandro, our guide, giving us facts about the market, its history, and walking us though the different stalls, informing us about the vendors and the foods that they sold, all while picking up things for our meal.
He then prepared a feast for us and what a feast it was! Delicious local cheeses, wine that paired perfectly, local meats, fresh baguettes, foie-gras and more. By the end of the tour we were all full and content.
Overall it was a great experience. We learned a lot of interesting facts and had a great introduction to the market, a place visited regularly by locals but might be intimidating to tourists trying to navigate on their own. By being part of the tour we were able to try a wide variety of things we might have passed over if coming alone and it gave me an idea of what to look for and order again when coming back later on my trip. Alejandro was also great as he was super knowledgeable, passionate about food and helpful with answering questions or even snapping the perfect picture to commemorate the day. Later he made sure to give us information on everything we ate, as well as recommendations for dinning in Toulouse, which I found really helpful. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone who loves food and is looking for a unique but authentic experience.

Obviously making it to the wonderful cheese and wine tasting at the end of the tour was the highlight, but the journey to get there was full of great knowledge, sights, and tastes. Touring the Marche Victor Hugo with Jessica is a fantastic way to kick off a visit to Toulouse. Jessica moved from the US to France years ago and it is apparent she has immersed herself into the community flawlessly, as every stop we made she was very well received and this in turn made the tour-goers very comfortable around the Marche; which otherwise for us would have been a little daunting. As someone who has been around and interested in food, cheese, and wine much of my life, I am as inquisitive as it gets....but quite literally there was no question she did not have the answer to. She also gave us some pointers into the customs and ways of the French people that helped us throughout our later journeys. She quickly followed up with an email with highlights of our day and ideas for her favorite stops in Toulouse. Thank you Jessica!

Not only great food, but loads of history of the area and the importance of each food in the Catalan culture.

We had a wonderful time learning about the intricacies of the food of Telouse whilst wandering about the market with Alex. I would recommend skipping breakfast as there is a lot of food on offer.
