Are private tour and guide Laila was amazing!!
We had a driver and a tour guide. We were up close and personal and hit so many sites that the big tour buses can’t get to.
We travel all over the world and you various tours. We’re on a Viking cruise and the included tours are not rated high. Therefore, we decided to book a tour on our own that was private.
if I could give six stars for this tour, I definitely would. Do not hesitate to book it. You come all this way. Do the private tour. We enjoyed it so much and very memorable!!!

We would just like to share a small clarification for future guests that this tour is actually a shared tour for same cruise passengers. However, on the date tour there were no other participants, so it became a private experience.
We always keep our commitment to run the tour even with only 1–2 guests.

Our guide was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the history, culture and everyday life in Indonesia. Our guide showed us local plants and spices and shared how he uses those in cooking for his family. We highly recommend this tour.

Very local. Something you could not do by yourself. It provided insight into how people live and work. The tour guide was excellent and added her own personal experiences. I highly recommend this tour if you want to know what it is like to be here rather than just see the sights.

This tour was great, taking you into every day life. Learned so lunch walking through the busy market, going to the mosque and a short tuk tuk ride to boot! A good length too - about 4.5 hours. Our guide Nita was great fun and very knowledgeable.

We had a blast on our Surabaya tour with “Mun” (sp?). Great fun on the tuk tuk ride to the working market, which seemed primarily for cleaning and packaging shallots, garlic, peppers, spices and other vegetables. Lots of opportunities for great pictures. Other stops at the Chinese temple with puppet show, the Heroes Market, and lunch were great also. We really appreciated the visit to Sunan Ampel Great Mosque and the opportunity to interact with locals. All in all a very nice tour. Our guide provided lots of information, history and guidance..

Tour was well laid out with meeting at the port with tour guide. Tour guide was entertaining and provided history and interesting background of various site visited. Ended with s nice dinner at a local restaurant.

We weren't aware that a dress code was required for the Arab/Indian quarter, so have to have shoulders covered and reasonable length in your outfit.

We had an absolutely brilliant day. There were only 4 of us on the tour and so we felt like we had a really intimate and more tailored experience. Our guide Chita (apologies if misspelt!) was amazing and she and the driver Gun went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. We were taken to some interesting and authentic places and felt that these were places we never would have seen with a large tour group on a coach. We were back to the port in plenty of time and never felt rushed or nervous about a late return throughout the day. Would highly recommend this tour and at half the price being charged on the ship, you can't go wrong!

Our guide Salsa was excellent! Her English was perfect, and her knowledge of the city was wonderful. She was very personable and allowed us to customize our tour, but also letting us know what we shouldn’t miss. We felt we received a great overview of the city.
Our driver, Boy, safely and efficiently got us through the city traffic. Our restaurant lunch was delicious.
We’ve had many guides around the world, and this team was top-notch.

Unfortunately, our tour guide was a very quiet gentleman who said very little on the bus as he drove us around and around the city. We went to places that were not on the tour and skipped places that were on the tour. For example, we were supposed to visit the Arab quarter. The only thing we saw of the Arab quarter was door in the market exiting to the airport. We did not get to experience walking through the air report or seeing any of it. Same goes for Chinatown after we turned the corner. The guide mentioned that that was Chinatown we just passed, but all we saw it was part of the gate to Chinatown, but never went to see it. it was quite a boring excursion, and the whole group decided to just be dropped at the mall and end the tour there.

The restaurant meal was excellent. I would eliminate the market or make it much shorter. Surabaya is putrid of the resistance and the war of independence, however the square and museum cover the same area of history. Adding s photogenic spot would improve the tour.

We had a really good guide in Nita: she was from the city, and was able to bring the whole tour alive. She was funny and informative, and we learned lots about Indonesian culture from her. We especially loved the visit to the vegetable and fish market, though this was not to everyone’s taste, as it was fairly “in your face “!

Nita was our tour guide and did a wonderful job of taking us to all the places that we had researched and listed. There were a couple of places we could not go due to current political issues so she provided some great alternatives.
We particularly enjoyed the puppet show at a Chinese temple we would have never known about had she not taken us there.
