Studio is at at the roof garden - Unit 04-06. If you travel by train, the nearest station is Paya Lebar MRT. Walk 10 minutes (850m south-east direction) or take a bus (Service 24, 76, 154, 155) from Exit B and get off at the 2nd bus stop. If you drive, public car park at basement.

Really fun new experience with a batik artist who travels internationally to share his art. Kamal was a very patient teacher. The class was a very nice part of my three day Singapore trip, a great break from the heat and regular sightseeing. My finished product was gently placed in a beautiful cloth pouch as a memento of the class. Highly recommend and I will be back on my next trip to Singapore.

Nice classroom. The lesson was given by the artist owner of the studio. Explanations and guidances all along to create my painting. It was a very pleasant experience. Arrive at least 1/2 hour before the lesson to find the classroom inside the community center.

We had so much fun doing batik. Brother kamal is a very knowledgeable person. One of the top scholars of batik in Singapore!
Anyone that is interested in batik should come to this workshop.
We can see the sincerity in his sharing and all of his work.
We strongly recommend locals and foreigners to attend this workshop. Worth the money and surely the experience is one of a life time.

It was a really immersive experience in the malay culture! Our teacher was really helpful. He shared solid information and guided us through the whole process. He is a friendly person and really connects with you easily. What i would really love for the future is for the activity to last a little bit longer, as i felt that the 2 hours weren’t quite enough. It is an experience i strongly recommend if you were to visit Singapore!

the batik lesson itself! The teacher was wonderful. one on one. It clearly was not a studio meant for tourists which made it all the more fun. Clearly in an office building mean for the locals.

I would recommend as this was something totally new to experience. The actual process however was not well explained. I am english speaking so I do not know if that was a factor, but there was no explanation beyond- pick a pattern, this is the tool you use and how to use it. then she walked away- still near-by but doing her own thing. After the first step, she then brought out the paints and said some technique to blend colors. I wasn't aware there was a correction tool for step 1 or things I could have done to improve my project. My take away was fine but had I known more info it may have actually been nice.

Hi, thank you for the feedback. In future, we ensures our instructor goes through all the process step by step so that participants understand the techniques well. We don't either recommend the correction tool in the basic batikking as the scrapping done on the wax will cause damage to the fabric, and the color painted on it will not be even.

Lovely to have had an opportunity to learn how to work with batik. Gave a basic introduction. Delighted with my beginner attempt! Found the venue to be a bit noisy and would have liked some history on the craft of batik. More Detailed instructions to the workshop room would have been helpful. Recommend.
