Long, 2 1/2 hour trip to Phnom Penh from the port on little used expressway built by the Chinese. Interesting travel through the city with 2 other people in a nice Toyota van, navigating between cars, scooters, Tuk Tuks. Nice quiet tour of royal complex with knowledgeable tour guide and then tour of Genocide Museum, former Prison during the Khmer Rouge rule if Cambodia.

There were 6 of us from the cruise ship that signed up for this tour in a minivan. We all worked well together. Lots to see and learn! I was the slowest walker on the tour but we still managed to cover all the sites in a short amount of time. A lot of driving but it is well worth it. Once in a lifetime experience!

    Not a great tour

    Susan_C, Apr 2026
Driver was polite and pleasant but spoke ,almost NO English. He could not answer any questions during the 3 1/2 hour drive. The palace buildings were b beautiful and the traffic was crazy and unbelievable. I did not think the tour was worth spending 7 hours in the car.

It was a very long drive to Phnom Penh from our ship, but or guide was most helpful and knowledgeable in explaining history of Cambodia on our way. His guidance helped us to at least have a little better understanding of the events in its history. We had time for lunch, and return in a timely manner

    Visit to Phnom Penh

Excellent experience. Our driver Mr Tho was excellent - it was a long journey but very comfortable and enjoyable - good to relax before Phnom Penh. When we arrived there we met our guide Makara - he was brilliant- so knowledgeable. He explained everything to us and he was obviously passionate about the history of Cambodia. A real gentleman and answered our questions throughout the visit - big thanks to our driver and guide for making our visit worthwhile - would highly recommend

If I was just rating the guide, I would give this tour 5 stars. Long was excellent. If I was just rating the transportation I would give it 1 star. It was a 3 hour drive to get to Phnom Penh, the back seat was very uncomfortable for the 3 of us back there. There appeared to be something wrong with the vehicle as we were not able to keep up with the other traffic. We had to leave Phnom Penh at 3pm without lunch as the driver said he needed extra time to get us back to the port. The return trip was 3.5 hours as we had to drive much slower than the rest of the traffic. Not sure if this vehicle should have been used for this trip. We only had about 3 hours in Phnom Penh so it was not worth the time spent traveling back and forth.

Traffic in Phen is terrible so make sure your tour operators adjust accordingly so your time commitment is realistic

    Great time

Very accommodating Let us alter plan to fit our time restrictons. Note: Three hour drive each way. Recommend shoes that are easy to remove and put on

It is customizable and is a wonderful way to see Phnom Penh. There is both a driver and a tour guide. Great excursion.

    Day Trip in Phnom Penh

Great tour. Best part is seeing the killing fields and the prison where the Khmer Rouge tortured and murdered 2 million people. A true holocaust!

    Great experience!

    Nina_P, Mar 2025
The entire experience was fantastic! We came on a Viking cruise to Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The cruise line only offered an overnight trip to Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia. A driver picked us from the gate, guide met us in Phnom Peng. Eak, the guide, was very knowledgeable in telling us about the city, culture, religion and anything else we asked him. One of the temples we were planning to visit was closed, so he quickly had an amazing alternative. From each event, the driver was ready with an air conditioned car and water to take us to the next destination. This was a great break since it was 96 degrees at the time. Overall this was a very good experience.

Mr Sam is knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Went to Royal Palace, genocide museum , monk residence and independence statue. Nice lunch in local restaurant. Gained a deeper understanding of Cambodia.

Taxi driver really did his best and self taught English was good. Guide was informative and good. Recommend this trip

    Enjoyed the day, mostly

    Giovanni_M, Feb 2025
Confusion at the port - cruise passengers were not allowed to walk from the ship to the gate, and the shuttle buses did not stop at the tour pickup point Gate 1. Instead we were dropped at Independence Park and we had to call the tour company to pick us up. The driver did not use Whatsapp. So we lost an hour in the above confusion. Rest of the trip was great. Very comfortable car and driver. Guide was Markara and he was also excellent. There is no scheduled stop for lunch - we took snacks from the ship which helped us save time. The highway takes about 2 hours, and then you spend another hour within the city to get to the sightseeing areas. Local people are very polite and kind. Cover your knees and shoulders if you want to enter the temples. It gets pretty hot so a hat and portable fan are essential.

Excellent tour guide, so hospitable and knowledgeable. She took the time to tour with us and explain everything and was very helpful. Highly recommend. The drive from the cruise port was long, but the highway was good and the driver was very nice.

Our tour guide Sam was fantastic — very knowledgeable and interesting and brought his own personal experience which made it very special. His tour was the best!!

    Worth the long jour

    patty, Dec 2024
Very long ride(3hrs each way) from cruise ship to Capital.. Had great driver moderate english but very accommodating. Need to have private tours PICK UP & DROP Off at ship NOT outside PORT. Waiting for shuttle buses in unfamiliar places is not good for the traveler…..
