Great Tour with a Wonderful Guide

This was a fantastic tour with a fantastic guide. Florin was one to the best, most knowledgeable, and most thoughtful guides I have ever encountered in my travels from China to Peru. This was a private tour, and that was an excellent choice because we were able to see things at our own pace. We first went to Alba Iulia, an Austrian castle constructed on the ruins of a Roman citadel. Some of the Roman ruins are still visible. The castle is extremely beautiful, with two lovely churches - an orthodox church built in the 20th century of the coronation of KIng Ferdinand and Queen Maria, and a Catholic church started in the early 13th century. Both have their own style and are well worth visiting. Just walking around the castle is also a beautiful experience. We then headed to Corvin Castle, which is a majestic building that fits all the fairy-tale stereotypes of a medieval castle, right down to torture chambers with the implements of torture on display. Unfortunately, we encountered some rain while we were at the castle, but it ended in time for us to take some great pictures of the whole castle on the way out. We had lunch as a nice restaurant near the castle. After this, we drove though beautiful countryside and several Romanian villages, with Florin explaining the features of each one. Finally, we stopped at a lovely country spot for some pictures (see photos) before returning to Bucharest. It was really a great tour and is highly recommended. Better than 5 stars.
