We almost missed our cruise ship departure!

Our guide was very knowledgeable, informative and nice. However we had several issues, the main one being, we almost missed our cruise ship. We visited the Virgin Mary house and Ephesus which were both wonderful. Afterwards they took us to an upscale lamb leather store where we sat for a sort of fashion show of leather apparel and then took us to a store where leather apparel was $1000 and up. It was strange and not listed in the tour description. Our lunch was a cheap buffet and not that good. After that we went to a store that gave a presentation on olive oils and other Turkish goods. We did buy some products, but at this point it just seemed like they were trying to get us to buy stuff. We visited the Temple of Artemis, which was underwhelming. At this point I was starting to worry about the time as it was getting close to our cruise departure time. I asked the guide and he said we were going back, but then once in the van we were informed we were heading back to the tour offices, to get in another van as ours was taking the other people in our tour to the airport. It was now 3:15, our ship was scheduled to gangway up at 4:30 and we were 30 minutes from the port. At 3:30 our tour guide said 5 more minutes. Ten minutes later my husband spoke with the guide and he was told the ride was coming. We asked again a few minutes later and were told “no problem, we drop people off at cruise ships all the time”. Finally at 3:50 they walked us out and we left at 3:55. They informed us that the other people in the van had to be dropped off at a hotel first and we would go afterwards, when I insisted we get dropped off first I was again told “no problem”. They were obviously concerned as well because the driver drove very fast, plainly obvious that they were concerned. We walked onto the ship at 4:28, and the gangway was pulled up 10 minutes later. I was NOT happy, this was our first cruise and we paid a lot of money for this trip. It was stress I didn’t need. I do not recommend this tour, buyer beware.

Hi There Thank you for your review. The schedule of the tour is clear with the timings on the product page. And it is clearly mentioned that tour finishes around 16:00 – 16:30 at the starting point. And this is not the first time for our company to run the tour from / to cruise port.Sorry for your anxiety but we always double check the arrival and departure time of the cruise with the traveller or the cruise company and if it too risky we warn the travellers and recommend to book another tour. When I check the tracking system of the van I see that we dropped you off at 16:20 not 16:28 which means 10 mins earlier than the departure of the cruise. Besides the timings seeing the hadcraft shops is also mentioned in the itinerary so it should’nt be a suprise for you. We recommend you to read the itinerary of the tour more carefully for your furture travels 😊 Safe travels
