Itinerary

After pickup in select districts of Santiago (Providencia, Vitacura, Las Condes, and Santiago Centro) by private vehicle, your day trip starts with the drive toward Chile's coast. Wind through Curacavi Valley on your way to Casablanca, where you'll stop at an organic winery for a tasting of olives and wine.

Then continue toward the Pacific to reach Valparaíso, a port city and the country's 2nd-largest metropolitan area whose historic quarter is a UNESCO World Heritage site. With your guide, explore its architecture, houses, and elevators, and visit La Sebastiana, a former home of Pablo Neruda's. Then see five of the city's most significant sites: Plaza Sotomayor, Paseo Yugoslavo, 7 Esquinas, Paseo 21 de Mayo, and the Valparaíso Lighthouse.

Finally, leave Valparaíso and head to Viña del Mar, where you can have lunch at a restaurant (own expense) before visiting the Flower Clock (Reloj de Flores), one of the main attractions. You'll also see an original Moai from Easter Island before starting the drive back to Santiago, stopping along the way at Las Palmas. Your tour ends with drop-off at your pickup location.

Misleading

Jim_M, Feb 2026
Be careful! Description of tour is misleading! The only thing the tour does is transport you from hotel to Valparaiso and Viña Del Mar

Never Happpened!

MaryAlice_S, Jan 2026
Our driver cancelled at the last minute and provided no other alternative. Very disappointing that we never had the tour

Exceptional Trip!

Elaine_K, Jan 2026
This was an amazing trip! Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar are beautiful towns and should not be missed. We loved seeing the whimsical side of Valparaiso contrasted to the resort feel of Vina Del Mar. Our guide, Giovanni, was exceptional. He was so accommodating to every request, plus he was entertaining and an absolute wealth of information about the two cities and Chile in total. His English was quite good, making it easy to have a conversation during the entire trip.

Valparaiso tour is an absolute necessity!

Kate_W, Feb 2025
Our guide, Ricardo, was very knowledgeable and friendly.. he was very accommodating to our needs because all of the reviews said that the wine tasting was totally inappropriate at 10:30 AM. So we asked him if we could skip that part and he willingly obliged and took us on a road tour of the wine region instead. This was perfect for us. He had a lunch place picked out which was quite nice and it was right on the beach. Seeing all the hills and paintings in Valparaiso was a great part of our trip. Actually, the street artwork was worth the entire trip!

Great tour and guide....

Daniel_B, Jan 2025
Great tour and guide. Very attentive. Very good with kids and knowledgeable with chile overall information

Fabulous day trip

Paul_C, Oct 2024
We had an exceptional day with Erick, our incredibly knowledgeable tour guide. From the moment he picked us up in his very comfortable Mercedes Vito van, he made sure our entire experience was tailored to our preferences. Having previously done the Viña del Mar and Valparaíso tour—which was fantastic—we wanted to explore different areas this time. Erick was more than happy to accommodate our request and customize the itinerary accordingly. It was a wonderful day, and we highly recommend this company, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Erick as your guide.

A horrible experience...stole my money

Anita_P, Oct 2024
This is the worst our I have ever had, the driver was 30 mins late. Then the itinerary that was purchased wasn't what was received. When I reached out yo the Tour Operator MTO I was told they will review and get back to me. I never heard back from them and when I tried to reach them my number was blocked. I spent almost $500.00 for a trip that the itinerary and what was promised was never delivered. Please don't book with this tour Operator.

Valparaiso and Winery Tour

Diana_Z, Aug 2024
Juan was the most knowledgeable and friendly guide you can ever ask for. Our flight was delayed and he patiently waited for us to be ready. Had us stop at a local bakery and we discovered local delicacies. Valpairiso was nice for pictures but it was the winery at the end of the day that made our day! Fully sustainable winery with excellent tour and tasting in English.

Quick and private way to see Vinas and Valparaiso in a day

ADRIANOM_R, May 2024
Jose was amazing, taking us to places and providing us with good information, compensating the rainy day. We couldn’t get to a vinery due to time and weather, but his was so considerable about my mom’s restrictions due to age, that it wasn’t a problem. He also suggested us a great restaurant! He also found us a nice spot to have our food by the sea!

Great people, but firm and clear with your expectations. Say no to the lunch at the very start of the day

Samuel_M, Apr 2024
We really enjoyed spending time with Alex, he was a great guy to talk with and enjoy time together. This tour has the potential to be great but unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. At the start of the day, Alex asked us what we were most excited to see and we said that we wanted to focus the tour on Valparaiso. However, it seemed the tour was designed with a lunch reservation at 2pm in mind so that the tour guides could receive kickbacks from a restaurant they clearly have a relationship with. What this meant in practice is that we spent most of our day in Viña del Mar as they tried to delay us moving on with the tour so they could meet this lunch reservation. We were given 45minutes to look at a clock made out of flowers, and no freedom to say we wanted to move on faster (as they drove off to the car park to try and slow us down). The delay tactics frustrated us and when we arrived at the restaurant it was clear to see it was designed for tour groups. The car park was full to the brim with tour busses. It had reached 2:15pm and we were yet to have eaten lunch or see any of Valparaiso. At this point we told them we did not want to have this lunch and we would be happy to pick up an empanada on the route. If we had honoured this reservation then we would have likely only had 10mins in Valparaiso by the time we needed to drive back to Santiago. We finally made it to Valparaiso just short of 3pm. It was disappointing to us that we only had 1h in the UNESCO world heritage site and about 2-3h in Vina del Mar, especially when we had explicitly said at the start of the day we wanted to see Valparaiso above everything else. It is also worth noting that the wine tasting in Casablanca valley is a service station offering free samples. This tour has the potential to be great, and the guys running it are super cool and nice. My advice if you book this tour is to be crystal clear at the start of the day that you do not want to go to the restaurant reservation, and you are happy to pick up something on route. This is also a totally reasonable expectation given lunch isn’t included in the tour price and there are plenty of cheap non-touristy options around. This also means that they won’t delay your tour schedule to suit the kick backs they get from the restaurant and you’ll get to spend more time seeing what you actually paid for in the tour description. I am sharing this honest feedback because we liked Alex so much and want to be constructive. Thanks again Alex for spending so much time with us and being a great guy!

Not as advertised

Cynthia_K, Mar 2024
Disappointed. Driver shows up in very dirty small red car. We were nervous to get in as other tours at hotel were offering clean white vans. We still went since this was our only day we could schedule this tour. Not as advertised. The itinerary on website sounds great. We saw some of the sites. Our guide, although very pleasant, didn't educate us well on what we were seeing. He was a freelance tour guide for company so I don't think he was trained for this specific tour. We mostly drove by places and didn't go in. Would have been nice to go inside buildings we were allowed to go into. Description of tour says "admission not included" on certain buildings which suggests that we could have gone in. Missed opportunities.

Wine Tasting was a Joke

John_R, Feb 2024
Our guide/driver Luis was very nice, was full of information and was continuously sharing it, but his English was not quite up to our expectation, and the tour was not as expected or described. We were spoiled the day before, having had a guide with excellent English. At the 09:00 pickup, we were told we would stop for the wine tasting in about an hour, on the way to Valparaiso. I mention that 10:00 seemed a bit early for a wine tasting, and asked if we could do it on the way back from Valparaiso. When told it would complicate the schedule if we changed it, I said to proceed as planned. The so-called wine tasting was a joke. We stopped at a wine supermarket (full of people off several tour buses parked in front) and were taken to a lady by a barrel, with a few wines we could sample. The samples were 10 ml or 1/3 ounce at most. I told Luis this was not what was described or expected. The description said "Wine and Food tasting", so we expected to be sitting at a table and be offered some finger food along with some glasses of different wines to sample, like many other wine tastings we have previously done. We showed Luis pictures from our previous Casablanca wine tasting in 2016. Instead we were now taken to a tourist trap where the tour operators are likely rewarded for bringing in customers. Luis said he was just doing as the tour operator he worked for had instructed, but would contact them. From hear, we went to Valparaiso. Lots of commentary from Luis on the way, but we were frustrated at not always understanding it. In Valparaiso, several sites were pointed our as we drove by. The bulk of the time went to an interesting walking tour through an older part of town with lots of murals on the buildings. We would never have gone there on our own, and enjoyed seeing the murals and the area. Luis was at his best explaining the meaning of these murals. After lunch at a restaurant with a wonderful view (and prices accordingly), we were told we would stop on the way back to Santiago for a (presumably) proper wine tasting and then were given the option of returning to the vehicle, or riding down the old funicular and being picked up at the bottom. We, of course, rode the funicular down rather than walk up to the vehicle. On the way back, we pulled into the same winery I had shown Luis pictures of in the morning. Luis said it was the only option without a previous reservation. When we got inside, things went sour again. Instead of being seated at at one of the many empty tables, after speaking to the staff, Luis asked us what type of wine we wanted and directed us to a couple of chairs off to the side, where we could drink a glass of wine - not a proper wine tasting, and again, no food. He said the tables were for eating customers. We were once again upset, refused the offer, and demanded to be taken back to Santiago.

Wonderful excursion!

Elaine_D, Dec 2023
We had a wonderful day driving through the Casablanca Valley and visiting Valparaiso. Our driver Christian and our guide Giano were very friendly and shared their love of Chile with us. We really enjoyed walking in Valparaiso and learning about the importance of this port.

Not a best option to choose

Galina_B, Nov 2023
The trip was terrible, not what written in description at all. Tour guid didn’t tell as anything about locations we were visiting (he gave us only names). What he said that he usually do tours over Santiago and not this cities and now learning about them with us. We missed half of mentioned locations especially those that we written as passed by. Wine tasting was at winery was a stop at wine shop, were all customers can try one ore two types of cheap wine before buying it for free (no food was included, nothing was told about the wine). By fact we paid just for privet transfer to the city and back

Excellent tour, would definitely recommend. The guide was very knowledgeable. Especially enjoyed the stop at the waterfront and winery.

Amazing Luis and Rebecca

Santosh_P, Jun 2023
Luis and Rebecca were so so warm and hospitable .. and went out of their way to make sure everything was amazing. Luis shared so many interesting details about different places and Rebecca was always making sure I was in a happy place. I loved this excursion !

In forty years of traveling, the worst tour we've ever had

Dan_P, May 2023
Complete ripoff. While our driver was a very nice person, and we enjoyed his company, he was not by any stretch of the imagination a "professional guide". He wasn't even an amateur guide. He was a driver, with a car, and upfront about that. He had no knowledge of the things he took us too, and we were taken to almost none of the promised locations. Mostly it seemed oriented towards taking us to souvenir shops, trying to get us to spend time in museums (that were not part of the tour) that he'd meet us back at later (we declined), and an expensive, mediocre, touristy restaurant. The "wine tasting" consisted of going to a wine/liquor supermarket where a salesman allowed us to taste one, and only one, thimbleful of wine. We basically had to accept that the tour was nothing remotely like what was promised, and was a complete waste of time and money.

A Trip with my Uncle

Ray_A, Apr 2023
Mauricio was our driver and tour guide this has been the second trip with him by now he is family. Best driver and tour guide I recommend and would even request him! Now about this tour he had to stop in the so call Casablanca tasting it’s not what you think but it is a necessary stop for bathroom break. Everything else was perfect and he made sure we had the best time trip probably lasted longer than it should have but he goes above and beyond! Gracias un millón Mauricio por todo!

Great Tour!

Nadine_F, Feb 2023
We had a very enjoyable tour. Our guide, Alex was great! He was informative, entertaining. He showed us the highlights of Vina Del Mar and Valparaiso. He also took great creative pictures of us. He was very accommodating in helping us bring wine back that we purchased along the way as well as dropped us off in time for our dinner reservation that evening. My only reservation about the tour is the wine tasting portion. It was not what was described in the tour description. We just go to a wine store that cater to tourists with inflated prices. Tasting was only of their limited house brand.

Robbed in Santiago de Chile

BART_V, Nov 2022
Very old and used car, very very filty not washed and cleaned in months. No professionel guide, first time he did this trip was taxi driver before. Took wrong route and street continuously ! Instead of visiting a nice winefield and bodega we went to a commercial supermarket where they sold wine. Driver did not know anything about Vina del Mar and Valparaiso ! While driving continuously phoning with his boss ! And that for 279 US Dollar a real theft a horrible experience the baddest ever we had with VIATOR and I am glad we survived, never ever again !!!! A real nightmare and a real theft we feel robbed !!

MTO Tour Chile is either a dishonest company or a terrible company I would avoid.

Kun_L, Nov 2022
Tour company, MTO Tour Chile sent me a text in the morning of tour day that they don’t have a car/driver for our private tour. So our tour was cancelled at the last minute. It’s a terrible story. Then we checked with our hotel concierge and they were able to find another tour company to provide the same tour. So our day was rescued.

Literally just a driver; no tour involved

Peter_s, Sep 2022
This was literally just a driver, who was perfectly fine as a driver from point to point. Otherwise there was no tour involved.

This is worthwhile!

Ian_M, Feb 2020
Janine was the best! We spent a most informative day with her and her partner and felt that we saw the best of Valparaiso which is a most colourful and artistic city with the most amazing street art and decorated houses. But she also shared the recent political and social history of the city and country that was factual and accurate, and she made it very interesting. A great day out with a charming woman, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Ask for Janine and have a great day!

Valparaiso & Vina Del Mar tour

Ian_C, Feb 2020
The trip to Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar was very enjoyable, and Patricio was a very good tour guide. The wine tasting was a little disappointing because it was at a wine store and not an actual winery.

Bohemian Valparaíso

Eva_V, Feb 2020
Mauricio and Jesus were very informative and easygoing. We ran out of time for wine tasting so manage your time. Otherwise great trip!

A great trip

Lori L, Jan 2020
Patricio our driver was polite knowledgeable and well spoken in English. He took his time to make sure we were satisfied with our tour! A great way to transfer from Santiago to Viña Del mar or Valparaíso

Excellent

Monique_C, Jan 2019
Diego was a great guide. He has a vast knowledge of the area and its history. It was very easy to exchange with him and he was very flexible. We also appreciated his safe driving and the restaurant wher where we had lunch.

We took this tour because we wanted...

Jena S, Jun 2018
We took this tour because we wanted to see the coast with limited time and because my mother is in a wheelchair, and the only way she could see these cities on a hill was through the car, which we appreciated a lot. Our guide was very accommodating and made sure my mom could see as much as she wanted despite her limited mobility. We loved seeing the street art and historical sights of both towns. The lunch though not included was very good. I say plan to spend 50 USD for both people. The only thing we were not a huge fan of was the stop at the shop before Valparaíso and Viña. Other than that, for the price 100 each, not sure why it advertised as 55 per person on the website was worth it.

This was a fun and interesting way...

SusanRae_J, Jan 2018
This was a fun and interesting way to transfer from Santiago to hotel in Vina del Mar before cruise. The guide was good at photo stops and the lunch was amazing. Wine tasting fun but very brief.

We had an excellent time on this...

Tracy S, Dec 2017
We had an excellent time on this trip! It was a perfect way to see so many things we likely wouldn't see on our own. Patricio was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and professional.
