Our tour with Madamin was one of the highlights of our trip to Uzbekistan. He is incredibly knowledgeable, warm, funny, and passionate about Samarkand. He brought the history of this beautiful city to life and made the whole experience feel personal and unforgettable.
By the end of the tour, it felt like we had spent the day with a local friend rather than just a guide.
If you visit Samarkand, definitely book with Madamin — highly recommended! ❤️🇺🇿
My apologies for writing this review so late!
This mix-up was completely our fault. We had accidentally booked the same walking tour we had taken the day before, just with a different company. When Usman met us, we immediately realized our mistake and asked if he would mind taking us to just one site instead—the Ulugh Beg Observatory.
He couldn't have been more accommodating. He went to pick up his car, drove us to the observatory, and along the way kept suggesting wonderful places to visit. What started as a simple trip turned into a fantastic tour of both the old and new parts of the city, filled with fascinating historical and cultural insights.
When we mentioned that we were interested in Uzbek carpets, he also recommended the Silk Carpets Factory and waited while we were choosing a carpet. By the time we finished, it was almost 5 p.m.
His willingness to spend the entire day with us, adapt the tour to our interests, and share genuine Uzbek hospitality was the highlight of our day. Thank you so much, Usman, for turning our mistake into one of our favorite experiences in Uzbekistan!

The tour was cancelled by the operator so late we were already at the meet up spot.
Dreadful service, wont use Viator again.
Now I am having to wait for my refund. Looks like it will take a while.
We booked the private tour with inside visits. My mother has accessibility issues, she can't do too much walking and has trouble with stairs. Our guide was very helpful about this, trying to find wheelchairs or ramps whenever possible. She had to skip the mausoleum visit due to the number of stairs, but the other two of us visited while she waited safely in the car.

Good tour if you’re looking for a brief history of the top places in Samarkand. Would recommend you ask a lot of questions.

We had such a great day with Amin in Samarkand. He was very responsive via WhatsApp before the tour and we were able to make changes easily with him as well. The morning of the tour he was able to change from a walking tour to a private car, which was really nice since we were a bit tired from traveling. Amin went above and beyond to give us a comprehensive tour of the city with great history and insights into Samarkand’s culture. He took us to have Samarkand plov, which I agree is better than Tashkent plov. He even dropped us at the train station and arranged with a store to deliver a souvenir we wanted to the train station since we didn’t have time to pick it up. I highly recommend booking this tour!
