We had a great tour of Samarkand with our guide Akmal. Since my parents only speak Russian, I booked the tour in Russian.
Akmal picked us up on time from our hotel and showed us the main sightseeing spots in the city. He shared interesting facts about the culture and history of Uzbekistan and told us about each place we visited. I actually learned a lot about Uzbekistan from him. He is very knowledgeable, and the way he delivered the information was easy to understand.
We appreciated his calm and mature personality. I also appreciated his safe driving style.
Overall, it was a great experience.

Hassle Free booking and pick-up with the awesome guide himself -Amin, he made sure to take time (not in a rush) during Tour, always ready to answer questions and kind enough to make sure everything is alright( took good photos as well). Shared a glimpse of Samarkand's history tied in each attractions with enthusiasm not just for the sake of completing the tour. Highly recommended if you have short or long stay in Samarkand.

Our tour with Amin was an unforgettable one. He was so kind, knowledgeable, and with a wonderful sense of humor. One of the best tour guides we have ever had. We learned so much about the city, had incredible food, saw beautiful parts, and met some amazing people.

We had a wonderful time exploring Samarkand with our tour guide Amin. His style was very informative and at the same time entertaining. The sites we visited made us feel like we walked into a living museum - we were awestruck by the beauty, detail massiveness and geometrical perfection of almost everything. It was definitely a different experience compared to just watching it in youtube videos.
Amin brought the ancient Silk Road and Timurid Empire's stories to life with fascinating detail and he was amazing with taking our family photos — he knew exactly where to take our photos to capture the spirit of the place.
Our favorite was Shah-i-Zinda, a necropolis that left us speechless with its turquoise-tiled mausoleums lined up along a narrow path. The Madrasas along Registan square, Bibi-Khanym Mosque and Gur-e-Amir, the final resting place of Timur, were also unforgettable stops. We were amazed at how much Samarkand was steeped in history.
What made the trip even more special was the warmth of the local people. We were welcomed everywhere with smiles, tea, and delicious Uzbek cuisine—plov, shasliks, fresh bread, assortment of nuts, and juicy fruits from the local market.
Samarkand is a journey through centuries of civilization and I highly recommend visiting with a local guide like Amin to fully appreciate the stories, symbolism, and significance behind each site.

We took this trip with Amin who was very hospitable and knowledgeable. He took us to the best spots for pictures and we also ended up taking a trip with him to Shahersabz the next day.

Exceptional experience! Our guide Amyra brought Samarkand’s history to life with deep knowledge and passion. She expertly showcased the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, Registan Square, Shah-i-Zinda, and Bibi-Khanym Mosque, while our calm driver ensured a smooth journey. An essential tour to grasp Samarkand’s Silk Road significance!

I mean is the coolest guy I've met ever! He is as local as can be, knows Samarkand inside out, where to park, where to go. And he knows everybody along the way from his fellow tour guides to the security personnel and everyone seems to love him. You get more done on the fast track with him!

Great tour with a very knowledgeable guest. I would particularly recommend this tour for those interested in history. We covered the main Samarkand historical sites with plenty conversation around Uzbek, Samarkand, and Central Asia history.

Amine was an outstanding guide during our trip to Samarkand. His blend of knowledge and friendly spirit made our experience unforgettable. He was attentive to our needs and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. His passion for Uzbekistan's history made the sights even more enjoyable. If you’re visiting Samarkand, Amine is the guide you want!

Top notch guide in Mohiddin, PHD in Asian studies and perfect English. He really went deep into some of the historical areas we were interested while offering some humour, personal stories as well as great restaurant recommendations. We were challenged with an EU summit which closed roads and delayed openings, but Moiddin did a great job adjusting schedule and routes to stay ahead of delegations 🙏

Amin is a very pleasant and well-mannered guide whose services I enjoyed for two days. He showed me everywhere in Samarkand and was super patient and helpful even suggesting best photo spots. He welcomes all types of questions, and I like how he leaves it to the tourist’s preference when it comes to chatting; he can be both quiet and vibrant, so feel free to lead the chat to the direction you prefer. Thanks, Amin! :)

To start with the architecture is the star .. we were staying next to the main monument Regestan so spent the earlier night also there to watch the light show ( I would say not worth paying for it ) and to be honest I think a lot more could have been done … that apart .., the architecture is gob smacking … the sheer size of the madrasas and mosque speak a lot of the man that was Emir Taimur .. larger than life .. we had a superb guide Alab …who knew everything there was to know and then some … have to mention the super polite driver too ( sorry didn’t get his name ) … me and my wife absolutely loved the tour and the experience was made even better that the weather was perfect too .. loved Samarkand .., would def recommend this as a must do city

A friendly, patient and highly educated guide, Zarina organized our visit in Samarkand.
We visited the main landmarks and received precious information both about the monuments and about life in Uzbekistan.
Generous with her time, she tailor-made the tour, breaking it in two parts to accommodate my needs ( I had some health issues those days; she also helped me the needed medicine).
We thank Zarina for two excellent days in Samarkand and heartily recommend her.

I usually skip tour guides, but with Samarkand’s incredible history and monuments, my mom and I decided to splurge on a private day tour. Unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. We wanted a strong start to our trip, but instead, it left us frustrated.
First, communication was poor from the start. Amin, our guide, never reached out the night before or the morning of the tour to confirm details or his arrival time. We were left scrambling to find his contact information through our hotel and had to call him ourselves to ensure he was still coming.
The tour began at Timur’s mausoleum, where Amin provided an overview of Timur’s history and conquests. However, throughout the tour, he was frequently on his phone, either texting or taking calls. I eventually had to ask him to stop. Amin seemed disengaged and uninterested from the start.
At the Siyob market, his disinterest became even more obvious. He offered almost no insight into the local food or culture and didn’t seem to have any relationships with the vendors there, visiting felt impersonal and rushed. Throughout providing information, his tone was defensive and borderline rude, and he kept repeating the same information at every monument. When I asked about specific architectural details, he couldn’t answer. I was left eavesdropping on other group's guides.
Having traveled to 45 countries, I believe a good tour guide should be passionate about their job, country, and history. It’s not enough to memorize and repeat facts.
Then came lunch. I had specifically messaged Amin days earlier, saying we wanted an authentic local spot. But he took us to a touristy place with inedible food. When I asked why, he said, “Places with only locals aren't good.” That made no sense, and it left me wondering if he was getting a kickback from the restaurant.
On top of everything, Amin took us to Registan Square—arguably the most impressive monument in Central Asia—at the very end of the tour, around 5 p.m. By that point, we were completely exhausted and ended up skipping it. My mom and I visited on our own the next day, and it was so vast that it took hours to explore. We couldn’t understand how any guide would leave such a monumental site for the end of the day. It just showed that the tour was poorly planned overall.
In the end, we spent a whole day and a lot of money on a tour that didn’t deliver on the planning, passion, or details. We came to Samarkand looking for a meaningful, personalized, positive experience but instead left with a sour taste, and it impacted the rest of our trip. It’s a shame because we wanted to dive deep into the city’s rich history, but this tour was a total miss.

Dear Shivan,
Thank you for your feedback. I would like to clarify some points regarding the tour experience.
During the tour, I observed repeated instances of disrespectful behavior toward your mother, including saying “shut up” multiple times. Such behavior affected the overall atmosphere of the day. Additionally, frequent interruptions and repeated questions made it challenging to follow the planned itinerary. Your constant use of your phone and attempts to organize the tour yourself contributed to Registan being the last stop, as you had repeatedly requested to visit the Bazaar first.
Regarding the “Plov” experience, I took you to the highly rated "Number 1 Plov Center," which is considered the best in Samarkand. Plov is traditionally a rich and oily dish, so its characteristics reflect authentic local cuisine.
At the beginning of the tour, you indicated that you hired a guide for the first time and expected me to lead all explanations. While I was happy to share insights, your interruptions and attempts to take control limited the natural flow of the tour. Your mother’s contributions with her examples also enriched the discussion, which you initially dismissed.
The tour start time of 10:00 AM was selected by you, and I arrived on time as confirmed. All details were communicated in advance, making the repeated concerns about timing and communication contradictory to our prior conversations.
My goal is always to provide a professional, enjoyable, and well-organized experience. I hope this explanation helps clarify the circumstances and decisions made during the tour.
Regards,
Amin
