Super knowledgeable, patient and friendly tour guide! Not too strenuous but a perfect pace for a hot humid day. Took 13 yr old child who had a blast. Learned tons about the island, culture and amazing fruits that grow along the path- some of which we got to try! Nice little waterfall at the end was refreshing! One of the highlights of the trip, a great way to get a little exercise and learn!

Now the rating is complicated:
Bike ride 5/5 stars. The history 5/5. The tour route, 5/5.
Now for the problems:
The swim in the waterfall 30mins to 1hr, fine right? The contrasting swim at the beach, we were all told 1hr, in reality it was 10mins. I cannot stand not being given accurate info, 0/5 stars. There was such a race to leave the beach, an under armour shirt was left in the chaos, thank god we had hired our own car! The fact that the dietary requirements were given and not followed 0/5 stars. Two of us put food allergies only to be ignored?? Why put them in then??
To be fair, the banana bread, cassava chips shared between 5 people were nice, hardly substantial for lunch though.
The real icing that clinched the review was there bad mouthing of Captain Tomas Lagoon Cruises because they are the original cruise. The bike company spouts and totes for Koka because there is a kiwi owner. That’s just not right, I didn’t appreciate it. Yes Captain Tomas might make a light hearted joke when and who models using the Sarong but to be misleading and scaring people away from the original.. no I cannot in good faith recommend this again.

This is a very interesting review - thank you for taking the time to make it! I will go through this one point by point basis, as I'm pretty curious about some of the claims made. Swimming: we do not have definitive time frames allocated for waterfall or beach swims! Most of the group were enjoying the waterfall and 3 were swimming; at the beach, only you and your companion swam, and didn't enter the water until after everyone had finished lunch (I had already loaded bikes and had a swim), and everyone was waiting around,. No idea where 30 mins to an hour at the waterfall figure came from - it was around 20 mins that we were there! I was notified of one food allergy during the week - different tour - and our caterer did make an innocent mistake, so that guest was reimbursed for their lunch but was still able to eat some of it. There were no cassava chips or banana bread: there were large fresh salad/meat rolls that people usually say are too big! There was fruit, banana muffins, and tarua chips Because I dont know what the food allergies referred to by this person are, and because I did not know til now and the food was all eaten (!), I'm not sure I can really say much more on this except i wonder what the allergies were if the food was all eaten?
Now this next one is the one that interests me! I'm assuming it's me being referred to as bad mouthing Captain Tamas! OK, yes, my preference is Koka Lagoon based on my own experiences, but as I also will always say, you will enjoy either one and they are very similar so you'll have a great time. I just have a small preference but i would never bad mouth them! Now I have no idea where the comments about one being an 'original cruise' comes from
- this never came up? Or, that Koka has a kiwi owner??!! This is a total fabrication as they are locally owned!! Why on earth would I 'side' with a company because of alleged nationality? This is truly bizarre! How did you dream up these baseless allegations?!. I'm glad you enjoyed the actual tour though. So a final word, just to be clear (!) to anyone reading this as I know that for what ever reason, people just scroll through the multitudes of great reviews to see what the odd not so great review reads, please let us know directly of any food allergies so that we know for sure, please book Capain Tamas or Koka Lagoon Cruise as you will have a great time on either, and please note that how long we spend at the waterfall vs swimming in the ocean all depends on what the majority of guests are doing! BTW, Storytellers is a foreign / local partnership... Just for the record! Thanks for reading! Meitaki ma'ata
**after speaking with our driver on the day, I discovered that she had said an hour swim: I do sincerely apologize for this, as she never should have said that. She is only new to the job, and as I explained to her, we don't have a time frame per se: if everyone or most people are swimming and having a great time, then great, we will just hang out at the beach. However, if most people, as was the case this day, are just waiting around to leave, then it is hardly fair to the other guests to just keep them waiting for an extended time. Most guests will notice that there are others who are not participating and are waiting for them, and will of their own accord, have a quick dip or just not worry about it as they can swim later etc. So again, our driver that day was out of line advising an hour. This will not happen again.

Dr. Corrina is so knowledgeable. We had an amazing day exploring raro scenery, away from the main road, and learn about its history, food, culture and everyday life like a local. Enjoying fresh fruits on our way and ending the tour with a delicious beach lunch!

Learning about the history of the island and tasting the various fruits that are growing naturally. Also, the biking was at a good pace and not too strenuous.

My husband and I (both seniors) really enjoyed this cycle tour which was done at a relaxed pace with frequent stops for Corrina to explain to us about the plants and history. We loved visiting the farmer's orchard and sampling so many fruits - also meeting the pigs! Lunch on the beach was much appreciated. This is the way to experience the real Rarotonga!

Our host gave us a good pre-briefing of what we were going to venture on. During the entire bike ride, he was very informative on describing the details of the vegetation and its benefits. This venture was well worth it.
