This was one of the highlights of our trip! Antonio is a fantastic guide, weaving together history, adventure, and personal stories in the trek through the tunnels. The space was incredible to explore, and if you're a fan of urban exploration, you should definitely check this out. Having a guide also added an element of safety and let us see more of the space.

Great attraction and potential not recognized by the government

The Željava airbase is an incredibly fascinating site, and it's a real pity the Croatian government isn't utilizing it as a tourist attraction. It's a massive complex, likely one of the most expensive military installations of its time. Although it was completely destroyed during the Yugoslav wars, all that remains are ruins and the stories of the people who worked there. Tours are primarily run by private enthusiasts who either know former employees or have gathered their stories. These personal stories were definitely the most interesting part of the tour, even though looking at the ruins themselves started to feel a bit repetitive towards the end.

This tour was the coolest thing we've ever done. Besides the obvious amazing experience of seeing this place, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very nice, and speaking fluent English. It's definitely a must do and we would have never dared to go inside on our own, so thie guided tour is a great option and it's totally worth the money.

Do not miss this tour or imagine you can do it without a guide.

Our guide, Antonio, was a local who obviously knew the underground passageways very well. He told us interesting and technical facts about the different areas but then brought everything to life by adding personal accounts of neighbours and experiences that were significant parts of living near Zeljava when it was operational. He was fantastic!

Der Guide war äußerst sympathisch, hat sehr gutes Englisch gesprochen und ein riesiges Wissen über die Militäranlage. Die 2 stündige Tour ist wie im Fluge vergangen und wir waren beide begeistert

L'on peut bien entendu découvrir la base aérienne désaffectée de Željava par soi-même (à ses propres risques et périls), mais Antonio fait revivre l'histoire en toute sécurité, ce qui permet de véritablement comprendre ce qui s'y passait auparavant (agrémenter de petits films et de photos) et surtout découvrir tous les recoins (ce qui n'est pas possible par soi-même). C'était vraiment l'aventure et nous (dont deux enfants: 8 et 11) avons eu beaucoup de plaisir et discussions suite à cette visite. Un grand merci à Antonio.

Wir haben die Tour bei Antonio als Geschenk für meinen Vater gebucht, der schon einiges an Bunker-Erfahrung und großes Interesse daran hat. Auch wenn man die Airbase auf eigene Faust erkunden könnte, haben wir es keinen Moment bereut, die Tour mit Antonio zu machen, weil er über ein unglaubliches Wissen verfügt und wir so viel mehr entdecken konnten und erfahren haben, als wenn wir uns alleine umgesehen hätten. Die Tour hat schlussendlich sogar etwas mehr als zwei Stunden gedauert und wir würden es wirklich jedem mit echtem Interesse, der nicht nur im Eingangsbereich der Airbase bleiben möchte, sondern tatsächlich etwas über den Ort erfahren will, empfehlen. :-)

On était les deux seuls pour le tour d'aujourd'hui ! C'était juste génial, les histoires vraies racontée ! Je recommande clairement ce tour !! PS: effectivement habillez vous chaudement car a l'intérieur il ne fait pas très chaud et un long pantalon. Notre guide Antonio était au top !
