This was such a great tour with a perfect amount of sites fitted into 1.5 hours. Our guide Savannah was so lovely and filled with knowledge of both history and her own experience as a previous student. She also gave great additional tips on other sites worth seeing and favourite places to eat. This tour should definitely have been in the beginning of my stay in Oxford so we could have tried out even more of her recommendation, as the ones we managed to fit in were great.

Great Oxford tour

Lee_S, Mar 2025
Our guide was Gladstone and he was brilliant. It wasn’t too taxing on the legs neither. Would recommend to all ages

Thanks Savannah!

Alina_T, Mar 2025
Amazing tour with knowledgeable guide! Savannah was amazing at leading the tour, she had such interesting stories and fun tidbits to share, and of course a lot of history. We had a great time and we think this is the best way to get to know Oxford.

Great tour, ticks all the boxes

Alison_M, Feb 2025
Terrance was a great guide. Being Irish, he had a good supply of stories to keep us entertained, whilst telling us all about the colleges and famous alumni. We enjoyed our tour very much and felt that, at an hour and a half, it was just right in length for us, especially on a cold February day. We were lucky enough to be his only customers, so got his undivided attention.

Splendid walking tour around Oxford

Kamal_V, Feb 2025
We were fortunate to have Srusti from Somerville College as our tour guide. Event though she is an Asian, she was having vast knowledge on the history of Oxford. She was very polite and explained all essential facts very clearly. We had a very enjoyable tour with her and recommend this tour with her without any restrictions. Kamal Vidanapathirana- Sri Lanka

A Fantastic Tour with just 2 of us and the (Fantastic) Guide.

Donal_M, Feb 2025
Gladson, an Indian post-grad medical science student with impeccable English, was our guide. He was first class - an excellent guide. We were astonished to find that my wife and I were the only people on his tour! Given that all the tours departing at the same time had lots of people we were delighted that we had booked with Viator as we effectively had a private tour. The Oxford he showed us was wonderful. He repeatedly offered to take photos of us and was the perfect guide. Well done and thanks to him and to Viator. He wasn’t thrown by my wife being a graduate from “the Other Place” either! We heartily recommend Gladson as a tour guide to everyone.

Great tour!

Guided Walking Tour by Oxford Alumni

Nicola_H, Jan 2025
Tanya was a fantastic guide and gave us a really interesting insight into life as an Oxford scholar. She was really friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we got the maximum out of the tour.

Excellent walking tour

RACHAEL_W, Oct 2024
Our tour guide was brilliant. Really knowledgeable. She told us loads of interesting stories and facts which gave us a really good understanding about Oxford, the buildings and the colleges. Going on this tour was the highlight of our weekend and I would recommend it to anyone. It gave us a much deeper appreciation of the town for sure.

Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and pleasant.

Elise_B, Oct 2024
Excellent guide, excited about her Morse, Lewis and End history. Also gave us a broader tour about Oxford and its context over history...uni tidbits and even food recs. Great way to spend time at Oxford.

Isabel was Wonderful!

Mary_S, Sep 2024
Our guide Isabel was Wonderful! She was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was a memorable experience and I would highly recommend it!

A well-rounded view.

johanna_r, Sep 2024
I wanted to gain insight into the history of Oxford from both a historical and present-day student perspective, and I got exactly that. Isabel was able to fulfill my expectations. She was very knowledgeable, personable, and provided a well-rounded view.

Excellent Tour Of Oxford's Colleges And History

Brett_T, Sep 2024
Savannah, who was our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable and answered any questions about Oxford and the college's, we found the tour to be full of interesting facts and well presented

Informative and fun

Alec was a great tour guide. Approachable and very knowledgeable as well as friendly. Great tour - would recommend!

Fantastic Oxford walking tour

Colin, Aug 2024
This walking tour of Oxford provided fantastic detail on the history of Oxford and the events that have taken place over time. It also gave tremendous insights from a student's perspective. Felix was excellent. He answered all our many questions about the university and the colleges, tying this in nicely with his experiences as a student. I highly recommend this tour and I would recommend doing the hop on hop off bus loop before (and after if you have time).

Amazing Tour--Well worth it!

Lisa_M, Jul 2024
This was such a great tour--having Alec as the tour guide made it even better, he was able to share his own experiences as a PhD student and he was a great guide.

Historical and modern day experience of living and studying at Oxford

Heather_V, Jul 2024
Alec was a great guide offering historical insights as well as the modern day experience of being a student. This tour was an excellent introduction to the city and university alike. Alec also recommended performances and other current events happening that day and weekend. Using his recommendation I was able to attend a performance of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra at the Sheldonian Theatre. Great tip, Alec! It was a very unique experience I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. My advice is to take this tour as soon as possible upon arriving- after taking this tour I felt so much more comfortable navigating the streets, alleyways and footpaths that wind through Oxford. Highly recommend!

Great tour with many stops.

Hans_C, Jul 2024
Angelica was a great guide. She was a fresh graduate and was knowledgeable about the history and inside anecdotes of the colleges and the university. The tour was engaging and covered a lot of ground, but it didn't get us into any of the colleges. We stood in front of the college gates and heard about them from outside. The only inside spaces we had access to was the original Bodleian Library Divinity School debate hall. The colleges each have their own admissions fees and some have tours of their own. Angelica answered all of our questions and was very helpful for us deciding where to eat and explore after the tour. For the cost, the overview tour was worth it.

Informative professional guide

Maria_N, Jun 2024
Our guide was well informed and well organised. A particular bonus was that as a student at the university she shared her experience of what this involved which brought the tour to life.

Excellent overview of Oxford from the perspective of a recent alum!

Amit_B, Jun 2024
Very engaging tour! Loved every minute of it! Our tour guide Jess just finished up at Oxford and had lots of information to share which she did in a really engaging story-telling style. Perfect length at 1.5 hours. Strongly recommmend!

Excellent Oxford

Eric_P, Jun 2024
Jess made this tour fantastic. She’s a brilliant young lady who captured our interest the entire tour. Thank you Jess!

Disappointed after booking 2 months early …

DAVID_B, Dec 2023
We chose and booked this tour specifically because it included the Christ Church addition. We booked the tour 2 months early and Christ Church was important to see and CS Lewis history. They didn’t book our Christ Church so we didn’t get to see. The guide only mentioned CS Lewis once. We were very disappointed and when relayed our thoughts the guide didn’t care or offer solutions We DO NOT recommend this tour at all if you have hope of seeing and hearing something other than Oxford college and how proud the guide is of her chance to be a student there or about Harry Potter.

Entrance to Christchurch...

Sue_E, Dec 2023
Entrance to Christchurch was cancelled due to Viator not obtaining tickets. We were not informed of this until we arrived at the meeting point. This was very disappointing and demonstrated a lack of customer service. Also, small group tours are advertised but there were 16 people on ours. .

Must do!

Leigh_E, Dec 2023
Must do! And Alec is the greatest tour guide you could ask for. To learn about the uni from a graduate is really interesting and special!

Excellent

Mauricio_O, Dec 2023
Very interesting to know the history of the buildings and the academic part directly from a student.
