We had a great experience cooking with Preeti and Sonu, her husband. They welcomed us into their home and gave detailed instructions and background on the spices and food we made. We made a total of 7 dishes and Preeti and Sonu gave easy to follow direction. The food came out amazing and we can’t wait to try making the dishes back home!

This was incredible. Sonu and Preeti were welcoming and very informative about the nature and ingredients of Indian cooking. To top it off the meal was the best I have had so far in India. I would highly recommend taking a cooking class because it not only gives you an insight into the food but also the culture and family life of local people.

Booked it. If you’re thinking about it, don’t hesitate.

It turned into something far bigger than a cooking class. Sonu and Preeti welcomed me into their home like family. We shared tea. We laughed. Their children played in the background while we cooked seven different dishes together. No stage. No performance. Just real life unfolding in a Delhi kitchen. Traditional spice trays. Aromas blooming in hot oil. Stories traded over simmering pots. Travel at its best is not about checking a box. It is about sitting at someone’s table and being invited in. Grateful for the warmth. Grateful for the trust. Grateful for the reminder that hospitality is a universal language. Seven dishes. One home. One memory I will carry long after the flight leaves.

We had a great experience...

Fantastic cooking experience in a local family’s clean and modern home. During the class we made rice, curry chicken, yellow lentils, Indian breads, vegetables, dessert, and masala chai tea. They broke the recipes down into simple steps and emailed the recipes after the class. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Learn to cook a tasty Indian dinner with a lovely Indian family

Minee_H, Nov 2025
A lovely experience in a typical Indian family home. Preeti and Sonu greeted us at their door and shared their kitchen, knowledge, recipes and hospitality with us. Preeti was responsive, shared her location timeously and enquired about dietary preferences. Sonu ensured that we reach their home safely and the couple proceeded with an amazing, interactive cooking class.

Wonderful Cooking Class and Local Experience in Delhi

JoAnne_C, Nov 2025
I’ve been to Delhi a few times before, so on this visit I wanted to do something a little different — and this cooking class with Indian Food Cooking Classes by Preeti was perfect. I booked through Viator and was pleasantly surprised they accepted a same-day booking (as long as it’s made at least three hours in advance). Preeti was quick to confirm, very responsive, and waiting for me when I arrived by Uber. The drive from Connaught Place took about 75 minutes with traffic, taking me out to Uttam Nagar near Hastal Market, a local area I hadn’t seen before. We started with chai, sat and chatted in her living room, then headed back into the kitchen to cook a full vegetarian meal: okra, yellow lentils, Kadai paneer, cumin rice, freshly made chapati, and suji halwa, a warm semolina dessert cooked with ghee, sugar, and cardamom. Preeti mentioned that she mixes up her recipes from class to class, so each experience is a little different. The food was delicious — honestly the best Kadai paneer I’ve ever had. Afterward, her husband kindly walked me through the nearby market. A warm, authentic Delhi experience — highly recommend!

Awesome cooking experience!

Awesome experience with genuine people wanting to share their love of Indian cuisine and culture. Highly recommended.

One of the most amazing cooking classes that I´ve taken in my life!

Marco_U, Aug 2025
The class was great!!! truly recommended for anyone who would like to have an authentic experience, Preeti and her family was very kind and helpful with everything. I wanted to learn for a specific dish, and she taught me how to cook it! Additionally, her husband drove me to the different local stores to get all the spices and things needed and not easy to buy in my country.

Great class, very well...

Wonderful cooking class with Sonu and Preeti. Everything set up perfectly - air conditioned apartment, great attention to cleanliness including cooking with bottled water, relaxed environment and, most importantly, an absolute feast to finish with! Thank you both very much.

Wonderful Delhi Cooking Class Experience

Johanna_B, Oct 2024
We had a fantastic time at this Delhi cooking class! It was a truly immersive and enjoyable experience from start to finish. We opted for a vegetarian class and were delighted to have the opportunity to choose the dishes we wanted to prepare. The variety of dishes we cooked was impressive, and everything was explained in a way that made it easy to follow along. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming—it really felt like cooking with family. After the class, they even helped us navigate the city by taking us to the metro, which was incredibly kind and helpful. One of the highlights was a brief tour through the local markets, where we got to buy fresh ingredients like spices. It added an authentic touch to the experience and made us feel even more connected to the cuisine. Another great feature was the offer to share a comprehensive collection of recipes in English. We haven't received them yet, but I'm confident they’ll come soon. Overall, this class was a wonderful way to dive into Delhi's culinary culture, and we'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

We had an amazing experience at Preeti's private traditional Indian cooking class! We learned to make daal, rice, chapati, chicken curry, chai, and bindi, all under her expert guidance. Preeti and her husband were incredibly accommodating and made us feel right at home. The flavors were authentic, and the warmth they showed made the evening truly special. Highly recommended for anyone looking to dive into the heart of Indian cuisine. Thank you, Preeti!

Delicious food, very good instruction from a patient and always smiling host and hostess, we felt at home and would absolutely recommend this genuinely culinary experience! Preeti, taught me how to cook Massala Chai, Chicken Curry, Panter Massala, Yellow Dal, Cummin Rice, Roti, and Halwa, all delicious. Her husband, Sonu also assisted and even picked us up from the Metro stop. What a treat!!!

What a wonderful experience. Preeti is a gracious, patient and knowledgeable teacher and I feel like I learnt so much in the three hours with her - spices, ingredients and techniques. And then we sat down to enjoy the delicious food before strolling through the local vegetable market. Very special to be welcomed into a local family’s home. Thank you 🙏

Very personal cooking class

Jochem_G, Feb 2024
It was very nice to learn from Preeti and Sonu! They take the time to go through all steps, have extensive dish options and being in their own kitchen adds to the experience. I would highly recommend! Our dishes were: Masala chai, Chana masala, Aloo gobi, Dal, Roti, Cumin rice and Halwa.

Authentic!

Mitsuko_R, Jan 2024
Preeti’s class provides everyday insights to Indian cooking. The spices in the beautiful spice boxes are a feast for the eyes! Be prepared to chop, stir, knead and enjoy! The chai has caffeine so I only tasted a few sips since my class was at 4 and I’m sensitive to caffeine. My favorite dish was the paneer that I grated vs cubed. Grated was more tasty! Last tip: I secured a car service who waited for me to take me back to hotel after class. The neighborhood is in a challenging location so I was glad I arranged the round trip ride vs hailing an Uber.

Delicious, informational, and fun!

Philip_C, Jan 2024
Preeti led a great personalized class for us. Before the class, she was very communicative and worked to make sure we picked dishes that were right for us. During the class, she welcomed us into her home where it was taught and made us feel very comfortable. She not only taught us how to make a variety of delicious dishes but also how to adapt it to a variety of Indian recipes. The hands on experience will allow us to take what we learned and use it at home in the future opening up a wonderful new cuisine any time we want. Would highly recommend this class to anyone!

Great experience! Highly recommended!

Stefan_E, Feb 2023
This was probably the most authentic experience we could have within our entire time in Delhi and I highly recommend it for everyone who loves Indian food and likes to dive into the Indian culture as well. Preeti and her husband will welcome you in their own home and prepare stepwise several meals together with you (Preeti will contact you via Whatsapp prior). Both Preeti and her husband are such nice people, we felt comfortable from the first second on. The food we prepared was also very delicious!!! Loved it.

Delicious afternoon in Delhi

Tatjana_P, Nov 2022
I was temporarily adopted as a student of Indian cuisine and a visiting auntie to have a fun day learning how to cook some of my favorite dishes I’ve only eaten in restaurants, and chat about concepts of Indian cooking (seed spices go into oil first and powdered spices last, after most other ingredients) and life in general. Cooking and tasting what I prepared I had a very pleasant afternoon and enjoyed a delicious 5 course lunch preceded by veggie fritters (pakora) and masala tea. My teacher and host explained about adaptations she does when people she is teaching have special dietary restrictions (for example when they need gluten free and onion free food), and what she does when she gets a large class to teach (she shifts from her kitchen to the rooftop). I would recommend this class to anyone who likes authentic experiences and appreciates Indian food. (Also, I want to mention that my host reached out to me before class to ask if I needed anything and was easy to communicate with - she arranged for transportation from the hotel to the class at my request - it all went smoothly)
