Brilliant tea plantation and tea factory tour by friendly and knowledgeable guide

We absolutely loved this tea plantation tour. Our guide Mari was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot about tea growing but also had a lovely walk through the tea plantation to the factory where we learned all about how the tea leaves are turned into the delicious tea that we drink. They kindly arranged for a Tuk Tuk Driver to come to our hotel to pick us up and drop us off. Excellent service and great fun.

The tea tour was a good experience. Our guide was very humble and knowledgeable answering all our queries. Also when he saw me collecting flowers for my spouse he plucked different leaves/flowers and made a beautiful bouquet which my spouse loved, sweet gesture. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Munnar to experience the vast area of tea plantations and how they’re prepared in the factory, they also politely served us all different flavours for tasting.

An excursion not to be missed

It is the "must seen" excursion when you are in Munnar but the tour guide makes all the difference. We were very lucky to be with Ramesh who is very professional and made this visit extremely interesting with his knowledge and his patience to answer all our questions. Excellent tour of tea gardens & factory!

We had a great time on this tour. The operators were very organized & meetup was easy. We had a lovely walk through the tea gardens learning all about the process of growing & harvesting tea, followed by a visit to a tea factory where we learned about the process of converting the fresh tea leaves to the final product. Very well run tour & incredibly informative. We were provided with some delicious brewed tea partway through our walk, & we finished with a tea tasting. The option to purchase tea manufactured at the estate was offered & we found it to be very reasonably priced.

This tour was so great. We had Raja as a guide and his enthusiasm for learning was amazing, we learned a lot off him about the tea plantation, the history of tea in India and in Kerala specifically. We had a lot of fun and Raja answered all of our questions. The tea tasting at the end in the factory was also very interesting. Definitely recommend!

Mari was a very friendly and enthusiastic guide who taught us a lot about tea plucking and tea varieties. The walks through the plantation is so scenic and absolutely unmissable. Due to a national festival the tea factory was closed however arranged for us to still have a tour and tasting in the empty factory which was a cool experience!

This tour was great. We enjoyed walking through the beautiful tea plantantation. Our guide was very informative and explain the process of growing and harvesting tea leaves. We were slightly disappointed that we were not able to see any tea pickers during our tour. The factory visit was also great. I would recommend this tour.

My husband and I throughly enjoyed this 3 hour tour. Our tour guide Mari was very knowledgeable and we learnt so much more than just about the tea at Lockhart tea factory as Mari shared so much about the history and the ecosystem of the area from wildlife that lives there to other crops that grow there. We got to see the tea pickers working very hard to the whole factory process. And we got to try and buy some tea for ourselves! You can even have a professional photo amongst the tea if you’d like! There’s also roadside beverages and snacks.

I really really recommend this tour. It’s my second time doing it and it’s one of the best things I have done in munnar. It’s really interesting to go from walking around the tea plantations, seeing the plants, meeting workers, learning about the tea - to them going to the factory and seeing how the whole process goes from start to finish. We particularly loved the tea trail we did with our guide Ramesh. He never rushed us.. he took lots of photos for us. He told us all about the tea and the workers, as well as about all the nature around us. It’s my dad’s first time coming to India from Ireland and he just loved the experience. Lots of happy memories made on this tour. It’s also very good value for money :)

Our guide Mari was just excellent, very knowledgeable about the environment of tea plantation, the animals and the cultivation techniques. We enjoyed this walk through the tea plantation surrounded by stunning mountain ranges. We enjoyed it especially because it seemed like we were one of the only tourists to have access to that plantation. Our guide Mari was super knowledgeable not just about tea, but also about plants and Nature. He would patiently answer any question we threw at him. It was super interesting to learn about the entire process of how tea is grown, harvested, processed and lands up in your cup.

Er hat uns die Produktion des Tee‘s verständlich nahe gebracht und nebenbei sogar noch tolle Bilder gemacht. Es war eine tolle Führung durch die wunderschönen Teeplantagen und auch die anschließende Führung durch die Teefabrik hat uns gut gefallen.
