A truly unique experience

I was traveling solo in Merzouga and didn’t want to ride a camel so I decided to join this walking sunset trip and turned out it was one of the most beautiful memories I had in my life. It was unique and I think everybody should try it especially if you want to connect to the desert on a deeper level, not just settling for a regular site seeing experience. The guide knew the desert like the back of his hands and we walked across the dunes, stayed on top while the sun was going down and headed back just before it went completely dark. Little did I had the chance to go deep into the desert by foot without getting lost and this was my best chance. I felt I was connected to the landscape on a different and not an exaggeration to say a spiritual level when I was learning to pick up the pace and ground myself by finding a balance without sinking into the sand. This is not something you can understand from riding a quad (which I tried too) or driving a 4x4. I would do this again if I could!

Moment incroyable pour une première expérience dans le désert! Nous avions un peu peur de ne pas aller très loin dans ce désert et de ne pas avoir une impression d'immersion complète mais ce n'est pas du tout le cas! Au bout de 20minutes de marche, on ne voit quasiment plus la ville, on a l'impression d'être un peu seuls au monde dans ce désert avec Ahmed. On voit au loin passer les dromadaires et les quads mais sans être dérangés par leurs bruits. Au bout d'environ une heure et demi de marche nous arrivons au sommet d'une grande dune, les autres paraissent finalement toutes petites et nous avons pu observer un magnifique coucher de soleil au loin sur les montagnes. Nous n'étions que tous les 3 avec mon compagnon et Ahmed, la communication était fluide, Ahmed est vraiment très sympathique, il s'adapte à votre rythme et vos envies, il explique bien l'évolution de Merzouga grâce au tourisme, il est très ouvert et très intéressant sur beaucoup de sujets, c'était super de pouvoir échanger avec lui! Des le soleil couché, nous avons fait le retour, avec une arrivée au Riad (point de ralliement) dans la quasi pénombre. Niveau difficulté, ça monte pas mal dans les dunes, mais l'activité est vraiment accessible à tous car chacun a son rythme et Ahmed s'y adapte très bien! Au total: une magnifique manière écologique et éthique de découvrir ce petit coin de Paradis! On recommande +++++++
