Rizki was an excellent driver and guide to local eats in Berastagi. He knows the ins and outs of the area and is fun to chat with. Paulo was a great guide up the mountain and very knowledgeable about local traditions. Highly recommended duo!

Andy picked me up from Medan well in time. We picked up the local guide Jamil in Berastagi and did the last leg of the drive to the bottom of Mt Sibayak. Andy was an excellent driver on the bumpy road. The climb was made special by Jamil who knows the mountain like the back of his hand. Even though the day was cloudy , he managed to speed up and find a spot at the top where clouds were still open. He explained the use of many plants on traditional herbal medicine and also where to find incense. The hot springs are a nice touch at the end of the tour and so was the visit to the museum and market in Berastagi. Excellent experience!

I am very happy that I had a very skillful and safe driver. The roads conditions were very challenging and it was raining. His name is Risky but I felt very safe , no risk at all. Konong my guide that brought me up to the summit was very knowledgeable about the areas in Indonesia and even history of Indonesia. I enjoyed his company and he even made me an espresso on the summit that made my trip a memorable one. The sulphur hot spring was fantastic and therapeutic . I bought the sweetest passion fruit at the fruit market . I strongly recommend this tour to whoever comes to Medan for a holiday, definitely worth it !

I truly enjoy the hike up to the top at Moung Sibayak after working through the tropical jungle terrain for an hour. Its a breathtaking sight to see of both Medan city and Berstagi city from the top for the sunrise view of the cities. Although the trip took 2 hours to get there...its worth the wait gor the scenery. Thanks the team for bringing me for this trip! Much appreciated! ❤️

DO NOT TRUST THIS TOUR! We booked and paid for a private tour with a 5-8 hour duration as listed in the description. Instead we were put in a 7-person tour; don’t get me wrong, this wouldn’t normally be a problem. But IT IS NOT WHAT WE BOUGHT. Also, since we had to wait for everyone on the trail, we missed the sunrise. The first half of the tour lasted 10 hours (the hike) and to reach the waterfalls we still needed 2 hours of driving + 4 to go back to Medan for a grand total of 18 hours of tour. This is a COMPLETELY different thing.

Success for a first-time hiker

It was a superb experience. My guide was Bangun and the driver was Tico. Tico was on time to pick me up at my hotel in Medan, then we made our 2 hour drive to Berastagi to meet our guide and begin the activities. Bangun was very helpful throughout the hike and friendly too. He was insightful and could answer any questions we asked. He also told us some history of Indonesia. The hike itself is doable for first timers (I was a first time hiker) despite it being challenging initially. Our driver Tico was friendly too and punctual. The activities were well-timed and interesting. Overall a pleasant experience and commendable guide/driver.

It’s wonderful tour. I had a lot of new experiences. Some dogs especially one puppy followed our hike. That was really cute. Unfortunately, was not able to see sunrise due to foggy, but it was stunning view, and had really good time at hot springs and beautiful fruit market. I really appreciate about my guides. They picked me up at 2am despite they worked for previous customers until 10 pm. Next time, I would definitely stay at Berastagi. That would be convenient for this tour. Anyway, thanks so much!

I have hiked all over the world. This is one of my most memorable hiking experiences. Nothing can prepare you for the sound of the hot gases escaping through the vents. It is very loud and incredible. The hike up was slippery and rocky, but it was 100% worth it. Being inside the caldera and seeing the boiling water and yellow sulfur was just crazy. If that wasn’t enough, the day was filled with other sightseeing activities. Seeing the waterfall and Lake Toba was amazing. We also stopped at a long house and saw some monkeys in another spot. I asked if the guide would show me his house and we stopped there and had some soup. That was very special to me that I was able to see how Indonesian people live. The guide was very knowledgeable and told me a lot about Indonesia during the journey. All told it was a 13 hour day from my hotel. Highly recommended that you book this excursion !!!! Adventure Hike with Awesome Guide

My guide, Hendra, called me a day in advance to make sure we were all set...this was a wonderful foreshadowing of a most excellent day hiking adventure. We met at my Medan hotel in the morning and made the 2-hour drive to the Berstagi village for some sighseeing and shopping for mango, banana and snake fruit to enjoy at the close of our hike. The volcano hike itself was great with various landscapes and terrific views. I wore hiking shoes and that was a good thing. Afterwards, we went for beers at the bottom of the mountain and then headed back to Berstagi for famous Sumatra coffees and Nasi Goreng. After that, it was off to Lake Tago and the famous waterfalls. On our way back to town, we stopped to see some of the famous native Karo artchitectures...not on our tour but as we expressed interest, Hendra was sure to stop for us. Hendra is an adventurist and has great knowledge of the area. What's more, he has a terrific personality and made the tour so enjoyable.
