Overview
La Digue Island’s is known for its beaches, and many of them – including more secluded ones like Anse Cocos – are popular and can get crowded during the busy season. This full-day excursion takes you away from those guidebook highlights; instead, spend the height of the day relaxing and swimming at Anse Marron, an isolated beach tucked away between Grande Anse and Anse Source d’Argent. Follow your guide across challenging terrain and be rewarded with a pristine white-sand beach with an incredible collection of boulders in the ocean.
- Avoid the noise and distractions of a large tour group on this small group tour
- Hike through the La Digue forests and learn about the local flora and fauna
- End the tour – and spend the evening, if you like – at Anse Source d’Argent
- Relax on Anse Marron with a complimentary light lunch

My husband and I got so much more then we expected! After reading all the reviews it still didn't describe how wonderful our experience would be. The hike is well paced, it is not hard and the terrain often changes, so it keeps beeing interesting. The beach Anse Marron was gorgeous! Even snorkeling was fruitful and full of exotic fish. Gerrard is a master of knowledge and passionate about nature, but also very friendly and kind. The lunch on the beach was delicious, just what we needed. If there were 10 stars, I would give them gladly!

The tour guide had to cancel the original tour date, which was unfortunate for everyone involved. It would have been helpful if another guide had stepped in to ensure the clients could still enjoy the experience. This way, they wouldn't miss out on the tour entirely. I believe exploring these options could enhance the overall experience for future clients.

It has been such a perfect and kind of adventurous day. Gerard told us a lot about the island and its nature and did a great job guiding us all the way.
Everyone able to do so should definitely do this hike!

I am frankly dissappointed. No one came. I waited for 30 min at the meeting spot. Such a shame, i was genuinely excited….

Great experience - the hike is slightly challenging - so please carry suitable water proof bags and wear water shoes.
The guide Gerald is great.

Probably one of the coolest hikes I have been on. It is not easy but it is very rewarding and their is definitely an element of risk. Our guide was so cool and knowledgeable. The scenery was fantastic and we got to visit places we would have never seen on our own. If I ever go back to La Digue I would 100% do this all over again as it was such a good hike.

The most amazing experience! The guide has been extremely nice and knowledgeable. We are planning to go back and repeat it again for our wedding anniversary!

One of the best tour I ever had. The journey was amazing and worth all the challenges. If you’re fit and able to go to this hiking tour it’s so worth it. Anse Marron is worth the visit. It’s a paradise one must see. My local tour guide Gerard is awesome! Thankful for this amazing experience :)

This was one heck of a spectacular adventure. This 5+ hours hike took us on so many terrains...deep into the tropical forest, on open fields, on sand, thigh deep in water (I'm short), in between and high on the giant granite boulders. The views were amazing the whole way through....and the forest was beautiful as well.
I'm a hiker and this is one of my all-time favorite hikes, and a very challenging one for me. We are ages 64 and 68.. Navigating through the boulders was not a walk in the park and Gerard got us through safely. At the end of the hike, with the sun beating down on us half the time, I was very tired but was so thrilled that I finished.
We had an hour to play or relax on the beach while Gerard prepared a light lunch of various fruits (papaya, pineapple, banana, apples, oranges) and a bit of fish samosa. Everything was delicious, and much needed as we were quite tired by then and needed some good energy food
Gerard is a cool, health conscious, man of nature. He knows and cares a lot about all living things in the forest and on the beach. Gerard is a wealth of knowledge and if you are fortunate to get him as your guide, you will have a great time going through all that La Digue has to offer with him.

even though your hike is adventurous walking in nature, sea water, on the rocks, and so on, every moment worth it! especially the guide, gerard's tremendous knowledge and story telling are unforgettable!

Gerard is such a beautiful human ! So knowledgeable, humble, fun, helpful and charismatic - it was an honor and a pleasure to have spent this time and do this tour with him. Definitely it is a memory which will last a lifetime !
Highly recommended !
Please pay attention to the details in the description - water shoes are a must and not optional, as parts of the tour are going to be thru the water shoreline, you’ll be deep in the water till your waist walking on underwater rocks and corals.
I recommend long leggings as you’ll have to pass thru narrow boulders / rocks paths or slide on it which might cause grazings of skin.
Sunscreen, mosquito repellent - if you know that they love your blood type, and a cap are highly recommended, same as a good pair of trainers or trekking shoes.
The light lunch is actually pretty fulfilling - lots of fruits, banana bread and samosas beautifully served in a handmade green palm basket.
Thank you Gerald for one of the best times i had in my entire life 🙏🏻🙏🏻.

This was the perfect tour! Not a simple walk in the park, but instead small challenges and great awards to what the nature can offer! Absolutely fantastic with beautiful hidden beaches. Highly recommended with the best guide! Greetings from Norway! 👍😊

This full-day excursion was the highlight of our multi-island visit to Seychelles. It met our expectations and more. Our guide, Gerard, was amazing. He led us through an exhilarating and physically challenging adventure through beaches and the forest. We also did a good amount of boulder climbing. Along the way, Gerard described the local flora and fauna, which was spectacular. Once we arrived in Anse Marron, we relaxed for more than an hour on the beautiful beach. Gerard also treated us to a delicious lunch of fresh fruits and baked fish turnovers. This is a must-do excursion when visiting La Digue if you can handle the physical activity and bring the recommended supplies/gear (i.e., bottled water, water shoes, sunglasses, etc.).

Amazing tour with Gerard. His knowledge & his connection with the nature is amazing. Absolutely reccommended guide.

We had a really great day doing this hike and Gerard was a great guide - very helpful, funny und with a lot of wisdom about flora and fauna. The weather was tricky when we did the hike, but we always felt save, even with our 5 year old son. The hike is not easy, but definitely worth doing it. Thanks Gerard for making it happen!

I loved the guide!
He makes many stops to enjoy a nice view, explains a lot about the nature in the Seychelles and teaches you all sort of things.
The trail is some kind of a challenge for sure, but you do not need to be super fit to make it. My girlfriend does not love sport at all and she mastered it, though she was very exhausted afterwards haha. If you are overweight or have problems with your joints/back, then I would advise to reconsider to maybe reconsider doing this tour.
The included light lunch is good too by the way.

Gerard was the guide, I really don't recommend doing the tour with him. I booked through viator the day before, I arrived at the meeting point and he told me I had no reservation, I showed him the voucher and in a bad way he joined me. The tour is still high impact and not so easy so in some parts it was complicated to move forward and he was very annoyed with me. I think that when you take a tour where there are several people some have greater skills than others and I think that the less benefited like me instead of getting angry with you you could support them, clearly the guide I hated him for the way he was with me.

Beautiful tour and this is only thanks to Gerrard, our guide. So fun and friendly guy that will explain everything during the trekking! Great lunch with fresh fruits at the beach.
I would suggest to underline in the description the difficult of the tour, this is definitely not for everyone. There are some technical parts that are quite difficult and you need a good training and elasticity of your body. There was for example a very narrow passage between the rocks to pass that you couldn't in case you are too big!!
Tatiana_R, Oct 2023
WOW! The best hiking experience ever! Gerard was able to transmit all his love for the nature and his island. You won`t be only doing a hiking with amazing viewpoints and beaches. You will learn a bit about the islands history, names, plants , birds and have a few laughs as an extra. Highly recommend it
Moisej_B, Oct 2023
Wonderful experience with breathtaking views and educational remarks from the guide along the path - he really enjoys it himself and spreads positive attitude even on a rainy day!
Nigel_D, Sep 2023
The hike itself was spectacular, but also challenging, with a number of passages that involve scrambling / balancing on granite boulders.
It's worth it if you can manage it as you get to Anse Marron, a small but beautiful beach that is otherwise impossible to reach.
One of the main plusses is the guide, Gérard, who is a real character with a lot of information and stories to tell. He is also very aware of where help is required traversing some of the trickier sections.
Taylor_D, Aug 2023
We had a great trip with Gerard, he provided a relaxed and authentic experience. We loved walking through nature and learning about native plants and animals. Then arriving at a stunning beach with little natural pools to cool off in. He prepared a yummy fruit platter for us and served it on a woven basket made from leaves! The attention to detail was so special. Thanks again!!
Michael_K, Apr 2023
Gerard is fantastic, he loves the land and makes sure you are safe during the trek, Anse Marron is incredible and well worth doing with an experienced guide.
irina_s, Feb 2023
If you love the hiking and ocean views both, this hiking trail is challeging but, in the same time, an amazing experience. Girard is fantastic and experienced guide.
Viktoria_K, Oct 2022
A well organized tour where our guide tried his best to transmit his love for the nature.
He was always there to help during the difficult steps, however it is necessary to be fit to do this tour. Finally also the lunch was great served on a special “plate”.
Ron_S, Sep 2022
Do not take this guide! The tour can be done with other guides. An unkind and judgmental person, we felt like we were being criticized all the time. Didn't give many explanations, walked mainly with himself and left us behind. Half a day of suffering that left us with a bitter taste in our mouths.
Mary_T, Apr 2022
Gerard is an awesome guy, never a dull moment, knowledgeable and passionate about his job. He prepared a delicious lunch which the other tour envied :)
Guy_L, Mar 2022
The tour is absolutely amazing. We were taken to amazing places we could never reach by ourselves.
Gerrard is simply THE coolest guide ever!!
If you are at La Digue, this tour is a must.
