The tour was a fantastic experience that exceeded all my expectations! Our tour guide, Sara, was knowledgeable, professional and fun, and the way in which she explained scientific facts was interactive and highly interesting. The natural beauty of the Langkawi mangroves is a must-see! The captain of the boat... So skillful!!! A wonderful experience altogether - highly recommended.

Loved the boat ride, enjoyed the Islands. The feeding of Eagles was fascinating. Saw a little view of the lake, you need to be fit to enjoy it.

Boat trip

Not a bad trip but have been on better. The boat was a bit crowded, so struggled to take photos of the eagles diving for food. The lake we first stopped at was so busy, it took away the beauty of the place, lots of people bobbing about in a small area as the rest was roped off. On the last island we spent an hour relaxing, it was really nice as only a couple of boats there, so felt secluded and not busy at all. Overall it was OK but not brilliant.

Worth the trip.

Was an enjoyable experience. But need to be adaptable for people who can’t get onto boats. Staff friendly and helpful Agent was helpful and contacted us with relevant information before hand and collection and drop off was on time.

Memorable trip for wrong reasons.

Communication regarding booking process was 5 Star. The van driver who picked us up was very friendly and welcoming. The van used to pick us up from our accommodation could be upgraded, to give Viator a better first up impression in Malaysia. But that led to our first Viator tour that we felt disappointed with due to the poor interactions with the tour guide. He did not interact with any of the paying guests, gave no introduction or commentary, provided no history of places we visited. Unfortunately the tour guide could only speak one or two words in English, and I doubt if he knew any other language as he did not communicate with any of the members of our group. At the end of the tour he even failed to say thank you or good bye to us or to any of the paying guests. Yet that was not the most disrespectful act he did on the day. He was observered smoking a cigarette inside the boat whilst approaching the jetty to pick us up from the beautiful Dayang Bunting island, and without hesitation he deliberatlely (like it was normal practice) blatantly discarded his cigarette butt over the side of the boat into the water. This was a very disappointing experience compared to our previous experience on Viator tours. A decent tour guide could have made this a fun filled memory, as the people on the tour were friendly, eager and friendly. The island hopping tour itself I would recommend to all visitors to Langkawi to see the beautiful places we visited, but based on this experience I would not recommend Viator due to the lack of inclusion and behaviour by the boat tour guide.

Boat ride was fast and...

Boat ride was fast and enjoyable. The captain was fab and we felt safe throughout. We had six people on our boat which was such a nice number and would love to do it again. Enjoyed the beach, sea eagle feeding and pregnant lady views more than the fresh water lake activity.

Ruined Islands

We waited on a very, very busy jetty where all of the tour operators ran from. Over half an hour late, we left, around 25 people squashed on a boat. No SOPs, some people didn’t even wear face masks. The first island was the worst, as so much litter and people making fun of the monkeys and ‘play fighting’ with them. Monkeys eating from empty packets of food on the floor and even drinking Fanta from a cup, so sad to see. Nothing to do on the island apart from water sports on a lake, which has ruined the lake! The second island was no different, apart from there being a littered beach instead of a lake and monkeys still being ridiculed and fed crisps. The view looking out from both islands was great, but both islands were heartbreaking and something needs to be done to change them. Seeing the eagles was a great experience, but this happens within the mangrove tours so would suggest that instead to avoid the islands that have been utterly ruined. Driver was nice and boat ride was good.

Three islands all crowded and dirty

Tour was somewhat disorganised but took us to the three islands specified. Pregnant maiden lake was hugely overcrowded and you are only allowed to swim in an area the size of a swimming pool. Beach island was also way too crowded and covered in litter (bags bottles tyres etc)
