Itinerary

Jewish and Arabic national movements have struggled to gain authority for their people in this region of the Middle East for many years. Hebron's population is split between Palestinians and Israelis that live in two separate sectors: H1, which is controlled by the Palestine National Authority and H2, by Israel.

Your tour into this region begins with meeting your guide, who takes you on public transport for about two hours to the city of Hebron, located in the heart of the Judean mountains.

Start on the Israeli side of Hebron with an Israeli-Jewish guide who will speak of the variety of tensions that exist from his people’s perspective. Take a bulletproof bus to the Tomb of the Patriarchs, the world's most ancient Jewish site and the second holiest place for the Jewish people, after Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Explore Jewish settlements and visit landmarks like Tel Rumeida, an agricultural and residential area believed to be the location of biblical Hebron and others.

Then, travel into the H1 sector to meet with a Palestinian guide for the second half of the tour. Enjoy an optional lunch at a Palestinian family’s home followed by a tour of the main part of the city. Talk with local residents about the difficulties of living in this volatile region and visit the Muslim side of the Tomb of the Patriarchs, also known as the Ibrahimi Mosque.

Your full-day (11 hour) tour concludes here with transportation back to Jerusalem.

An excellent experience for those who wish to move beyond superficiality

EricLouis_D, Aug 2023
A well thought out, well executed tour for those who wish to be left with more questions than answers: we spent the evening talking about so many features of it, agreeing that it was disconcerting, but in a way that seems respectful to a complex and fraught reality. Both of the guides were very good - I wish we had had more time with the Palestinian guide, but this is also a product of the political realities. Organisation of the timings was flawless; the choices of stops were well chosen, and the lunch with the family was lovely. Beware that you will be confronted with people with very entrenched views, ones that are difficult for many to reconcile - the Jewish settler with whom we met was... challenging. Summarily, an excellent experience for those who wish to move beyond superficial tourism

Informative

Great trip to Hebron from Jerusalem. Information from both perspectives regarding the situation in Israel and Palestine. I book this tour because of Ibrahimi Mosque. The Cave of the Patriarchs or Tomb of the Patriarchs, known to Jews by its Biblical name Cave of Machpelah and to Muslims as the Ibrahimi Mosque, is a series of caves situated 30 kilometres south of Jerusalem in the heart of the Old City of Hebron in the West Bank.

Definitely recommend

Amazing tour and experience, truly a special day. Hebron is such a unique place, and getting the dual perspective from the tour brought the entirety of the city to life.

The Experience of a Lifetime

I’ve always wanted to go to Hebron. Today was truly an awesome experience. Elie and the Female Palestinian guide were so knowledgeable and charismatic. They explained the history, practices of their faith and answered all of our questions. I would recommend this experience to everyone.

Hebron Day Trip from Jerusalem

pdrouet, Feb 2020
This was a fascinating day tour but you really should be in good physical shape for it as there was walking up a very long steep hill and downhill rocky uneven steps. We met at the Abraham hostel, took a tram to the bus station, and then took a comfortable bus with bulletproof windows to Hebron. We first crossed into the Palestine section of Hebron and had two Palestinians tell us their side of the story of Hebron. We had good lunch at a private house there. Then, we went back to the Israel side of Hebron and heard from a resident there their side of the story. All very illuminating. Both of our guides were very good, especially our Israeli guide.

Must Visit

This was a really enlightening tour and one well worth taking. You get to hear both sides of the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Fascinating but too long!

It would have been more helpful if the Palestinian guide had given some more historical information about her people instead of dealing only with issues that happened in her life-time. The day was also too long and difficult at the end for elderly people to walk down a rocky path in the dark. Otherwise a fascinating glimpse of the duality of Jews and Palestinians.

a great informative day full with fun

A brilliant and thought provoking day in a totally divided city. I had heard a lot about Hebron, mainly a bias view on how badly the Israeli's are treating the Palestinian's so I wanted to hear both sides of the story and find out the truth of the situation. So this 'duel narrative tour' was ideal. We met Gabriel, our Jewish guide, he gave us a brilliant insight into the conflict and how this the people of Hebron were trying to deal with it. So we got on a bullet proof bus to make the journey from Jerusalem. When we reached Hebron, Gabe intoduced us to Mohammed our Muslim Palestinian guide who took us through the check point. Here we walked through a beautiful old part of the city and talked to several people who said how much the Jewish people had persecuted them and were ruining their lives. We then came back, through the check point, to the Jewish part of the city. Gabriel showed us where the Palestinians had murdered Jewish people, including a baby and 6 students and where a teddy bear had been stuffed with explosives and placed in a playground!! We were introduced to a Jewish lady who told her own story and gave her views on how this situation could be resolved. What a day! So interesting hearing both sides. One side will not accept a resolution, the other side want nothing but peace and a way to live together as one nation. Could not fault the day.
