A mediocre tour compared with others in Greece. The bus driver was organized arriving on time, the crew on the ship were good and lovely scenery along the way. However, the tour guide was unprofessional. He was rude towards some passengers, he explained absolutely nothing, not pointing out anything of interest , explaining anything about the region , giving some history etc. All things that usually tour guides do, He simply told us that all would be explained on the boat. Yes, the boat provided commentary about the monasteries but he could have provided information about the villages and peninsula. He told us what time we would be back and what time the bus would leave. However, when we arrived at the port to get the boat, he jumped off first and disappeared. He gave no information or instructions . There were 2 boats at the port and he did not tell us which ore we needed to board. When we arrived at the boat, there were 2 people checking we had our passes. . One passenger asked a question as he needed to clarify something due to lack of instructions and he was spoken to rudely, being not to give him a headache. The cruise was on time and the boat was unique but no safety instructions were given and the mevjsmics of the boat were not up to scratch . The boat is in desperate need of maintainance, the pictures of the monasteries are misleading. You don’t get to see the monasteries closely, it’s a long day to see them at such a distance. On the return , the air conditioning on the bus was barely working and you could not move some chairs to the upright position. Again no engagement or commantary by guide. We do wonder what his role was, overall a disappointing tour .

A nice trip, crew of the ship a bit unfriendly while boarding. Monasteries really amazing. I also saw a dolphin 🐬Visit of the village was also great.

We hadden de bevestiging gekregen dat we op de dag van de cruise gingen worden opgehaald aan een hotel dat enkele honderd meters verder lag van ons eigen hotel om 7u. We hadden echter tot op dat moment nog geen tickets mogen ontvangen. Vandaar dat we op dat moment naar het beschikbare nummer van het bedrijf gebeld hebben. We kregen een man aan de lijn die slechts gebrekkig Engels kon. Hij gaf ons aan dat hij ons in de afgelopen week meermaals gebeld had om ons meer info te geven over de cruise. We hadden echter geen oproepen vanuit Griekenland gekregen. Hij vertelde ons dat we pas omgehaald zouden worden om 8u15 op een andere plaats, namelijk bij een ander hotel die nog eens een aantal honderd meter verwijderd was van waar we stonden. De bus kwam ons wel degelijk op tijd halen en we reden door naar Ormos Panagias. Hier dachten we dat er een cruise schip (zoals aangegeven op de foto's!) ging zijn. Het was echter een enorm groot zwart piratenschip. Wanneer we op de boot stapten zaten er al enorm veel mensen op en was het zoeken naar een plaatsje. De overgebleven zitten plaatsen waren ongemakkelijk en gaven geen goed zicht op de voorkant van het schip. De rit zelf was best wel goed, maar door de ongemakkelijke stoelen kregen je al snel last van je achterwerk. Bovendien duurde het enorm lang alvorens we aan Mount Athos en de bijhorende kloosters waren gearriveerd. Vanop de boot was er eerlijk gezegd heel weinig te zien. Bovendien werd er door de luidsprekers info gegeven over wat we zagen in het Grieks, Engels en Frans, maar dit was volledig onverstaanbaar. Enerzijds door de slechte kwaliteit en het lage volume van de luidsprekers en anderzijds door de gebrekkige kennis van de taal door de gidsen. Het stadje Ouranoupoli waar we voor een tijdje zijn aangemeerd, stelde niets voor. Het was een toeristische stad met restaurants en souvenierswinkels waar er buiten het gebouw op het strand niets te zien was. We hadden net genoeg tijd om iets te eten en snel rond te kuieren alvorens we weer op de boot moesten. Vervolgens was het nog 1u30 op de boot om opnieuw aan te komen Ormos Panagias om de bus te nemen naar de hotels. Over het algemeen zou ik deze ervaring niet als positief beoordelen en dus ook niet aanraden bij anderen. De boot zat overvol hetgeen een onaangenaam gevoel gaf en de rit naar Ouranoupoli was veel te lang om dan teleurgesteld te worden.
