I highly recommend this tour hosted by Jake, the owner/guide from "All Things Garmisch", or one of his other capable tour guides. Our family, my wife and two daughters (11 & 13), were picked up close to our hotel in Garmisch in a nice, clean, comfortable Mercedes van and taken on a tour of two castles and a monastery. The tour guide, Jake, was very knowledgeable about both the history of all the sites we toured (Neuschwanstein Castle, Linderhof Palace, and Kloster Ettal) and also local culture and recommendations of restaurants and services.
We enjoyed the combination of history, stories, and the beautiful sights of the Bavarian countryside and German Alps. In between castle tours, we ate a great lunch at a local brewery, Schlossbrauhaus Schwangau, a few miles away from the crowds of Neuschwanstein, but with the castle in the background. Our whole family was engaged and interested for the full 10 hours! It was definitely worth the money spent, and the guides will work with you to tailor your ideal experience.
