A very pleasant walking tour in Zemun, Belgrade

Albert L, Oct 2018
We had a wonderful experience on this walking tour of the Zemun old town neighborhood, aided by the great, sunny weather. Aleksandar, our tour guide, was very friendly and pleasant, and just great in every way. The 360 degree view from the top of the Gardos tower was magnificent. On the river shore, we were delighted by the view of locals feeding a group of swans. It was 3 hours well spent.

Aleksandar contacted us beforehand and upgraded us to a full-day tour of Belgrade. So we got to see not only Zemun, which is historic and lovely, but also the Kalemegdan fortress, Avala and St. Sava Orthodox Cathedral. St. Sava is kind of the Sagrada Familia of Belgrade - an enormous church being built by donations. While it is unfinished, the work completed the downstairs mosaics is spectacular. Well worth visiting and - if you are so inclined - leave a donation to help complete the work! We really enjoyed learning about Serbian history from Aleksandar and chatting with our group of fellow travelers.
