Loved the trip to the waterfall and Lake Issyk with few exceptions.

Great way to see some beautiful places near Almaty about 2 hr drive one way. Prepare to hike about 1 km (30-40 min hike) up the mountain on a rugged pass when you travel to the waterfall. Do not recommend for people with weak joints. Waterfall is not super big, but the view of the gorge from the top is amazing! The Lake Issyk is beautiful, could have spend there all day. One thing is - no good bathrooms. Do not take this trip during national holidays if you don’t like sitting in traffic. Bring your own water and snacks on this trip, not much of a food by the Lake Issyk. Loved the driver and the guide - very professional and friendly, they made sure to stop by the gas station for bathroom, water and food before the drive. Visiting new places is always an adventure - give it a try! The scenery is picturesque!
