Thomas was fun, energetic and knowledgeable. He made the whole experience wonderful. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone visiting Athens. Excelled to the market before starting to cook. The location was exactly where it was described on the website We made five different dishes and they were each so good.

This was my favorite experience while in Athens! Such a fun setting and it felt like you were surrounded by family. The instructor was so informative and fun. I loved how it included the walk to the market for some of the ingredients we were using. I enjoyed the amount of food and the variety of dishes. This is something I would definitely do again!

Just a Greek splash....

Billie_F, Sept 2026
This cooking class was a fun little experience in Athens. The recipes were not too complicated, and the dishes we made were delicious. We really enjoyed the walk-through of the Plaka market at the beginning. And by the end, we found a new favorite dessert!

Wonderful Class

We had a wonderful time at the cooking class. Antonia was funny, informative and we loved all of the recipes. The trip through the market was a great experience.

Food Allergy? No problem!

John_O, Sept 2026
What am amazing experience we had with The Greek Kitchen Cooking class team. When we arrived, Antonia asked about food allergies. As a Celiac, I had expected to only have limited participation, but that couldn't be further from the reality. Not only was I able to fully participate, but they were extremely careful to ensure no cross contamination. The trip to the market was very informative, the cooking process was tons of fun and the food was amazing. We're looking forward to trying the recipes at home! Thank you Antonia and Stella for an amazing experience!!

Great experience

Great tour of an authentic market. The instructor was great and there were only 6 of us in the class. I just might be able to make some of these recipes at home!

Great experience.

We had a fun time cooking! We enjoyed all the foods we made, it was a wonderful experience. They were very accommodating to us since we were about 10-15 minutes late due to taxi issues.

Highly Recommend! Awesome chef

This was my favorite activity I've done in Athens. The market visit was informative, the instructor was incredibly knowledgeable & funny, and the dishes we learned how to make were delicious. Could not recommend this enough!!!

Unpleasant Germ Experience

Tyler_S, Aug 2026
If you want to eat germ ridden food, cooked by people, rubbing their eyes and coughing definitely come to this class. You cook for everybody and everyone eats each other’s food. It was also extremely hot in there as one person fainted. My wife and I left early as we were not willing to eat the food because nobody was wearing gloves. Oh yeah - also we had to ask for the wine to be served…

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Hello Tyler, I am so sorry to hear that you didn't have the experience you were hoping for at The Greek Kitchen. We are very clear about our cooking class across all platforms so that everyone who books with us knows exactly what they are getting; a hands-on, group cooking class. We do offer private class for those who prefer something more intimate. What shocks me about your review is that you didn't mention a thing during the class and the other 10 people who were in your group all had an excellent time and were quite surprised when you left just before the food was being served as you had booked an event to see the full moon and the times happened to coincide. I feel that it was a case of you not knowing what you signed up for. We are very clear about everything regarding our classes including the location (you couldn't find it and were late), the menu (you wanted to cook other things) and the duration (you needed to leave early for the full moon). These things happen. I was present in the service kitchen throughout the day and as the registered first-aider I wasn't called into the classroom at all to deal with someone fainting. I wasn't called in for a medical situation of any kind. Perhaps you have a different definition of fainting? Our air-conditioned classrooms are all incredibly clean and we ensure that the highest standards possible are maintained to protect all of our clients, that is why there are sinks everywhere, sanitzer and gloves for those who wish to use them. Oh yeah - as for the wine... I'm so sorry that you had to suffer the indignity of asking for something. Generally the wine is served with the meal but I will ensure that my staff hone in on their mind reading skills to never see that happen again...

Fantastic experience! Food was delicious and it was such a unique opportunity to see the market. Highly recommend!

When in Athens, go to the cooking class at The Greek Kitchen! You will get more than just a meal.

Lisa_W, Aug 2026
Our home cook, Vasia, was knowlegeable, funny, and engaged the group to bond. The walk through the markets were fun, interesting and enlightening. The whole process was relaxing, culturally enveloping, and DELICIOUS. I appreciated that we didn't feel rushed and felt like we were cooking with family. We learned so much about the culture and learned more than just how to cook a variety of dishes. The freshness of each ingredient was apparent, especially since we saw the ingredients purchased in front of us. Being involved to create each dish made it taste even better. It was so worth the cost for our family of 4!

Amazing cooking class!

James_F, Aug 2026
The team at The Greek Kitchen were welcoming and went above and beyond for their students. We started off with a bit of history during our tour through the market and this lesson transitioned into what to look for at the local markets. We purchased our ingredients and brought them back to the kitchen where our teachers guided us through 5 traditional Greek dishes. We walked away from this experience with a little more knowledge about Greece, a few staple recipes and a lots of full bellies. I recommend enrolling in this class during your stay in Athens.

Delicious Menu and Amazing Instruction

Andrew_V, Aug 2026
This was such a unique and amazing experience! Vasia and Maria were incredible and so hospitable towards us. Touring the local market in the morning before cooking was also such a treat as we got to see this part of the city come alive in. Seeing how fresh our ingredients were was such a treat before returning to the classroom to begin cooking. The cooking portion of the class was also so fun!! We had a group with various cooking abilities and everyone enjoyed the class! Being able to learn about the food we made and when it is traditionally made was such a nice experience and gave us much more appreciation for Greek cuisine. Everyone had so much fun making the dolmades, and was also really funny to see how competitive everyone got when rolling the spanakopita to see who could roll it without it busting. The imam bayildi was also such a delicious dish - even the carnivores in my group craved it even after the class. The tzatziki was so cool and delicious and was the perfect compliment to all of our dishes. And to top it all off we even made everyone in my group’s favorite dessert after trying it for the first time a few days prior to the class - portokalopita! It surprised us on how simple these dishes were and are so excited to try making these desserts at home! We all loved the class so much and are so appreciative of Vasia and Maria for making this such a wonderful experience for us as well as sharing their love of their culture and its food. We left with a much greater appreciation of the Greek people and their delicious cuisine.

Great food, great wine, great AC

Olivia_L, Jul 2026
Thanassis who leads the class is wonderful! He took us through the produce, meat and fish market which is very nearby. He pointed out his favorite stalls that he regularly shops from. We booked the 3 pm class so some of the stalls were already closed but many were open so you could get a feel for the market. Then we went back to the wonderful air conditioning and made 5 dishes - an eggplant dish (imam baidi), dolmadas, spinach pie, tzatziki and portokalopita (orange cake). Everyone was involved throughout the cooking.. Very yummy, lots of white wine or juice. I definitely recommend!

Wonderful experience

Wonderful cooking experience with vasti! The food was fabulous and the time spent preparing and cooking were entertaining. Would definitely recommend

Fun time at the cooking event

LINDA_F, Jun 2026
The room is up two flights if stairs plus walking through the market. We just looked at the items for sale, we didn’t buy anything for our meal . There were 16 of us in the class. It was so much fun. I never dreamed how much olive oil is used in making the dishes. We made appetizers, main dish and dessert.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thanks Linda! I hope that the walk got you hungry for your meal! Glad that you enjoyed your class!

Not-To-Be-Missed Cooking Lesson!

Donna_D, Jun 2026
Great cooking 🥘 class experience making a number of delicious traditional Greek dishes which we then ate, the delicious dishes we made, together as a group with some lovely wine! Also in the beginning our excellent and humorous instructor Chef Vasia, brought us on a tour of the major food market nearby which was really interesting to see. I highly recommend this experience.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Dobrawa_K, Jun 2026
The pace was too fast, too little networking and I didn’t feel connection with the person running the class. Too much rush and too little warmth between human beings, I felt like attending school class. The experience lacked soul and socializing. I was also at another cooking class in Athens already and the pace was slower and the person running it was much more present and friendly

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Hello, sorry to hear that the cooking class you attended wasn't what you had hoped it would be. We created the course so that it will fit in with people's busy vacation schedules and still give a fun experience. I am really glad that you at least got to experience a present and friendly cooking lesson at the other class in Athens you attended though!

Fun and Yummy

hollie_d, Jun 2026
Loved this cooking class! Some of the yummiest food of my entire trip! Short market tour that was close by and then to the cooking class with air conditioning. Knowledgeable and kind instructor who should open his own restaurant. Enough hands on for everyone without making it a chore. I plan on making all the recipes back home.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thanks for this glowing review! We also love our cooks and what a great thing to hear that they should open their own restaurant (we could never allow this, of course...)

Excellent! We learned a lot and the food was delicious. Be careful if you buy anything with flight requirements.

Adonia is great!

David_G, May 2026
Adonia was our instructor. She was amazing. It was a fairly small class, us(4 people) and another family of 6. The food was amazing, and the other family was great. I would highly recommend without hesitation.

The best time

Jeremy_E, May 2026
What a fun experience! Walking through the market before cooking and meeting new people. The best instructor.

A lovely Greek cooking experience

Sara_K, May 2026
This was such a fun experience and Vasia, our head chef for the day, came with so much knowledge and humor the time flew by. We started by venturing over to the nearby market to see where locals can get fresh meats, fish, and spices to cook with (glad I was wearing closed toe shoes this day as sandals would have been a bit precarious stepping through the active fish and meat stalls), then returned to the kitchen to begin cooking. We made 5 different dishes, including a dessert, some fruit and wine were provided throughout, and everything is served all together at the end to enjoy. Plenty of food and could easily be your dinner for the day. A very enjoyable way to learn some Greek cooking and chat with fellow travelers. Will definitely be making some of the dishes again at home. Very much recommend.

Authentic!

Mary_B, May 2026
Opening to the kitchen is snuggly located between buildings, don't overlook it. Class was fun, very hands on, the chef was excellent and entertaining
