Rainforest Fun!

Tina_K, Apr 2026
Great excursion. Our guide, who grew up just outside the rainforest, was great. He was very knowledgeable and offered a lot of good information.

Great walk in the rainforest.

Karen_H, Apr 2026
This was a lovely walk/hike through the rain forest. Kelvin was our guide and knew all the plants and how to use them. Being a plant person, that was great and really the reason we went. Kelvin was so nice and funny. I only gave this a 4 because in your listing you mention bottled water and a walking stick. Take that out of your description as folks will want that. We bring our own water so no biggie but others may not.

Great excursion

Julie_N, Mar 2026
Very enjoyable and informative. Included a home in the rain-forest and lots of information about the different plants and trees. Our guide was a local but spoke great English and was really knowledgeable. Thank you.

Fun and informative hike through the rainforest

Wendy_B, Mar 2026
Our guide was very personable and fun. He made the experience very enjoyable. We are not avid hikers and we easily navigated the hike. I’d make sure to wear athletic footwear.

Educational and fun!

Stephanie_D, Feb 2026
This was a fun and really interesting way to learn more about the island during our trip. We enjoyed walking through the beautiful rainforest and learning how many plants can be used as medicine. Interactive too - we got to taste almonds, swing from a vine, and use a rock to make a noise that echoed throughout the rainforest. Our guide was truly passionate about the area and his enthusiasm was contagious. This is a half day activity (ending with island snacks and drinks) where we were able to learn about history and nature during our vacation.

Beautiful and Very Educational!!

Zadin, our tour guide was fantastic! While we were picked up by the wrong tour group from our resort originally… when he realized we were missing he tracked us down :) Luckily the local companies talk to each other!! Once we were connected…it was a great day. He was very friendly and accommodating. As we traveled from our pick up point up to the sugar plantation referred to as Wingate Estate he would stop along the way and give us some history of the island. This included stopping at or passing by the memorial to those who died in World War I and in World War II, where the local bird flock of Cattle Egrets home their young (to protect against mongoose), the Bloody Point, a few of the Universities and other small tidbits about the islands. Once we arrived at the historic plantation, we walked through some of the ruins and then went onto the rainforest hike. Zadin, our tour guide, really showed his passion for the island and highlighted many of the local vegetation, spoke to how the locals used the plants, leaves, seeds for various medicinal reasons. We even spotted a few monkeys!!! Towards the end he shared some fresh made banana bread, plantain chips, passion fruit juice and local rum for the adults :) We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Just don’t make the mistake we did…and verify company name before just hopping on a safari truck 🤪

A must-do!

This was the very first excursion I ever booked through Viator and it won't be the last. This hike intrigued us so we took a chance and wow, it was exactly what I had hoped it would be! The two of us had a one-on-one excrusion led by Kelvin who was so knowledgeable about the rainforest, the different medicinal plants, the animals, and some parts of the hike were challenging (like we led us up the side of a mountain). He was super passionate about the region and it showed. Such a cool experience!

rain forest hike

Chantal_C, Jan 2026
We met the tour guide right outside the cruise gates as planned. We then proceeded to board an open air bus . We hiked through the rainforest for about an hour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the fauna and their medicinal uses. Would recommend this tour.

A fascinating insight into the rainforest world and its myriad of medicinal uses.

Ronelle_H, Mar 2025
Poinciana tours with the amazing David was just brilliant. We learned so much about the flora of the rain forest and all its medicinal uses. Had a great not strenuous walk through some stunning rainforest and leaned all about sugar production. This is definately a tour not to be missed when you are on ST Kitts. We were collected from our hotel near port Zante. In a safari truck from which you get great views of the island as you are taken to the starting point of the walk. We took our own water but were offered more by David. We started with a tour of the old sugar mill and since David and his family have lived and worked on the plantation all their lives was really interesting. The walk progressed through the rainforest on easy to walk paths (probably best to wear trainers it was a little muddy in places). David pointed out a myriad of plants and herbs that form the basis for many modern medicines even a paracetamol plant. I wished the walk could have gone on longer it was so interesting. At the end of the walk we enjoyed freshly made guava juice and a tasty raisin pastry made by David’s wife. We are independent travellers and found ourselves the only ones on the tour as there was no cruise ships in. David is happy to take small groups on his tours. I highly recommend poinciana tours for your next tour on the island.

Enjoyable tour

LucyB_R, Mar 2025
This was a fun tour. Good exercise going up a gradual but fairly rough incline through the rainforest. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he forgot to give us our water before the hike (it had said water would be provided and did not say we should bring our own for the hike) and it was a long and fairly hot walk. Then when we got to the end and the refreshments, he didn't have enough water for everyone anyway and had to go buy some more. Poor planning on that. Otherwise, it was a lovely tour. One other note, there are very few birds or other creatures on the island, so most of the information is about the very interesting plant life.

The rain forest tour with Zidan!

Mommavilla, Mar 2025
We had Zidan as a guide! He was amazing! He was knowledgeable about the island and the rain forest! We learned so much about this beautiful island! The tour was fun and we had a great group of people. I would definitely recommend this tour and ask to have Zidan! He was amazing!

Great rainforest trip -...

Nadine_A, Mar 2025
Great rainforest trip - Zidane was a superb guide giving us insights into flora, and we saw monkeys!

Interesting hike, but could have been so much better.

Martin_C, Feb 2025
Overall we enjoyed the experience. The trip to the starting place in the open safari truck was fun, and the ‘natural’ aircon was lovely! Having read so many reviews raving about David, we we a little disappointed that our guide was someone else. Although very pleasant, we felt he was a little distant and didn’t really engage with us, which is unusual for this kind of tour. For example he didn’t ask our names or where we were from (the group was only 4 people, two of us and a couple from Canada). The trail itself was interesting and the heavy downpour added to the rain forest experience. Unfortunately we were not provided with water as stated in the information and, when we asked the guide, we’re told we’d need to buy some. Not that we needed them, but walking sticks (again advertised in the tour description) were not available. Our drive back to the hotel was in a 4 by 4 driven by David, whose company we enjoyed and was a much more effective communicator.

Rainforest tour on St Kitts

Kathryn_R, Feb 2025
Our guide was very informative and entertaining. We saw some lovely sights. We learned a lot too. It was just the right length and amount of walking. He gave us nice snacks afterwards.

Wonderful Tour of St. Kitts

Sherri_H, Feb 2025
I traveled with friends, and we all loved every minute of this experience. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, and engaging throughout the tour. The rainforest hike was absolutely beautiful, and we learned so much about the local vegetation the various uses for plants and trees. We even saw monkeys which does not always happen.

Unforgettable experience

Charamea_P, Feb 2025
Zedan was hands down the BEST tour guide I’ve ever had! He was super knowledgeable about his island, the agricultural, and you can tell he loves what he does. He will keep you laughing while dropping knowledge on you! We ended our tour with yummy homemade snacks and refreshments! 1000/10 recommend!

Fabulous rainforest tour.

Gaye_C, Feb 2025
David was our guide and he was great. Others no showed for our tour so we were the only ones. We appreciated that he was ok with only taking the two of us. He knew everything about every plant and tree in the forest and surrounding areas. Additionally he provided insight to the area and buildings in route to the actual tour.

St Kitts

Shelley_H, Feb 2025
That it was a great experience for children and the guide was exceptional. We learned a lot but mostly we had a great time no rushing or hurrying along

Beautiful Rain Forest and Nature Trail

Lynn_G, Dec 2024
David gave us an unbelievable and extensive tour through the rain forest. He has such a true passion for his country and its rich history as explained in talk throughout our experience. We loved it! He truly put his own personal touches throughout the time that we were with him.

Perfect tour(-guide) !

Roland_L, Dec 2024
We did the tour on December 3, 2024, and unfortunately I can't remember the name of our guide. It was a super great tour. We really enjoyed it. He explained everything so nicely, he was so passionate about what he was doing. Great! We will always remember this tour!

An amazing walk with Adrian our guide!

Anthony_J, Nov 2024
The Batik shop The history The fauna The beauty of the island Adrian (our guide) Adrian was an amazing guide, his knowledge of plant life and the history of the island is absolutely phenomenal. If you ever have the opportunity to do this, be sure to ask for him by name. It is an absolutely lovely experience, and the walk is not too difficult. We even saw a young child walking with a boot on her foot, not something I would recommend for everybody, but it does speak volumes about the terrain. This is a must do while you’re in St. Kitts

Lauren_M, Sep 2024
Really cool experience. The rainforest was beautiful and our guide Syl was very knowledgeable and friendly :) well worth a trip!

Wonderful tour

Albert_L, Jul 2024
Zidan Was exceptional! He was super knowledgeable and showed us around the rainforest which is his back yard. We lucked out that nobody else booked that day and we had essentially a private tour. The rainforest was amazing and we were lucky enough to see monkey’s in the wild. Zidan finished up the tour with a snack and dropped us back at our hotel. Thank you for sharing your beautiful rainforest with us! I would highly recommend this tour.

Tiring, beautiful, fun.

Taylor_W, Jun 2024
Zidan was the best! We had such a great time on this tour. But fair warning, wear your good shoes and bring a decent amount of water, and maybe even a snack. The route is long and tiring, but so worth it and so beautiful.

Ziden is so entertaining...

Paula_C, Jun 2024
Ziden is so entertaining and educating nature along the way. Every plant has a purpose! History and nature at its best with the art of Batik at Romney Manor

Great day in beautiful St. Kitts

Dee_N, Jun 2024
The tour was great. David is a wonderful and informative guide and host to his beautiful island. He shared his knowledge of the local plants and the history of the area. He is attentive to his group and aware of their interest and capabilities for the hike.

Brilliant! A lovely family operated tour. Zedane was our guide, really knowledgable

karen_m, Apr 2024
A great half day tour. A lovely family operated tour. Zedane was our guide, really knowledgable. Cake and ginger beer afterwards was lovely

Do it!!

Tiffany_D, Apr 2024
Such a great experience from start to finish! Jaleel and Ellie are altogether professionals! We were picked up at our hotel and off to our start point, had our delicious pastry, provided. Started our ascent, hiked the volcano in about 2:20 before descending. Along the way we learned lots about the plants, trees and history of the volcano and St Kitts. The hike was strenuous but fun! Jaleel had our safety at the forefront of his thoughts, making sure everyone was safe and happy. I would definitely recommend, a beautiful hike and worth the effort!

Rainforest hike

Kit_H, Apr 2024
My husband, two daughters (ages 15 and 16) and I did this tour. We all enjoyed it. It includes the Caribelle Batik, the grounds of the oldest sugar plantation and the rainforest hike. Our guide, Zidan, was really knowledgeable, engaging, and informative. The hike was mostly all-levels, but it did get a little tougher terrain towards the end before we headed back, but this seems to be adjusted depending on what kind of difficulty-level the hikers are/want. If you are looking for something to do in St. Kitt’s, would recommend!
