We had an outstanding private half-day tour of Lerwick and Shetland Islands Mainland with James. He kindly managed our delay due to slow process to get to shore from our ship. He communicated very clearly as we emailed about our process. He greeted us at our designated spot and we discussed what we hoped to see on our tour with excellent suggestions from James. He then took us thru the town and various spots along the route as we headed south. James gave us a tour that was all we hoped for and MORE. He is easy to understand, knowledgable, full of local stories and details, a great ambassador for Shetland and an excellent tour guide. He added an informative and entertaining commentary to our route with several bonus added detours! Shetland was our most anticipated cruise port and James made sure we had the best tour. Outstanding!
A great day with James! He tailored the tour to our time needs and interests. We saw and learned a lot during our afternoon together. We were lucky enough to catch some puffins at the end. Would recommend this to everyone.
James is an exceptional, knowledgable guide. He did a great job of researching our interests and then mapping out a wonderful tour of southern Shetland. He included lots of breaks including a lovely cup of tea and shortbread at St. Ninian’s island. If you schedule with James, you’ll have a most memorable tour.
James was fantastic: Cannot recommend highly enough! James is a veteran teacher and has encyclopedic knowledge of Shetland, plus he has visual aids that illustrate a number of interesting aspects of the sights you will see, and the history you will learn about. He is friendly and is flexible about the itinerary, which is a plus in our book. If you want to see lovely sights and learn a lot whilst you are at it, this is the review for you!
James was an excellent guide! He was flexible with our meeting time due to ferry delays and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend booking him for a tour of Shetland.
