Great experience touring the Duoro Valley. The wines and ports were terrific, as was the lunch. The river cruise very relaxing. But, above all, our guide Alex made the day truly exceptional. Informative, friendly with a great sense of humor. He made our day and we highly recommend the tour and Alex.

We had a fantastic time and our Guide (Marcello) was great. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He made everything so simple. We were picked up at our hotel and delivered back to the hotel that evening. Everyone had a great time and had plenty of Port and Table wine.

Both the tour and our guide, Filipe, were excellent. The Douro Valley is spectacular and the two wineries we visited were wonderful. Perfect trip to the Douro valley guided by Jorge! We met new friends from around the world while having a van excursion into the wine country. We tasted port at 4 different wineries, had a delicious Portugues lunch and took a relaxing Douro River cruise.

This was an amazing experience. We were 6 friends in our 50’s with our guide Andre. He was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and good fun. The day was not rushed, the tastings. Lunch and the boat trip were all excellent and the views spectacular. All in all a great day with a great guide, that we will all remember for a long time.

Excellent Douro Valley tour - probably the best wine tour we’ve ever been on! Jorge was fantastic as a guide and every location was breathtaking. The small group aspect was essential and we felt very experience was so much richer because of it. We didn’t want the day to end! Would 100% recommend this to anyone!

Good tour. But the driver drove very fast eventhough we asked him to take it slow. We got no water on the tour. The lunch was 2 star rating, it was quite dirty.

Loved it!! The small group was great. Lots of great information. Loved the river and winery tours. Especially loved all the wine and port tastings. At the lunch, would have been nice to have a table with a better view rather than stuck in a back corner especially considering the tables with better views were available to whole time we were there.

If you are visiting Porto, a trip to the Douro Valley is an absolute must. The terraced winery cliffs are truly spectacular. We were a small group of six (including our family of four), which made the experience feel very private and special. The itinerary was perfect: we enjoyed a one-hour river cruise, sampled excellent wines and ports, and had a delicious lunch at a stunning winery. While the tour is not cheap, the quality of the experience made it worth every penny. We were also blessed with very good weather which made the day extra special.

This wine tour was excellent. Our guide was a good conversationalist and was able to tell us a lot about the estates, the culture of the area, the processes of the winemaking, and much more. He was friendly and very obliging as well, and took us to some beautiful locations for pictures.
The tour itself was also great. The meal was delicious and the wine of course was excellent (especially the port). There was a lot of driving, but for those willing to learn about the area and converse, or even those who simply want to take pictures, it is great.
All in all it was an excellent Tour and worth the price.

This wine tour was honestly my favorite part of our trip, and hanging out with Alex for the day (writing this a few weeks after the fact so I’m pretty sure that was his name) was really lovely! Our guide was very knowledgeable about wine but also answered our dozens of questions about history and modern culture. He was a safe driver, and he spoke excellent English if that is a concern. The two port vineyards we visited were great — Quinta dos Castelares and Quinta do Panaschal were incredibly scenic with welcoming staff and great port wine. We enjoyed the lunch at VintageTheory in Sabrosa (friendly cats and more wine!) and the relaxing boat ride in Pinhão, too. It was great to learn not just about the history of the port creation process, but also the culture of modern Portugal.

Great trip and guide. Only negative was young kids in our group ( 5/6yrs old) who got bored at wine tastings ( not surprising and understandable) who ran around yelling. Made some of what should have been relaxing experience a bit grating.

Our day began with an informative drive from Porto to the Duoro Valley with an extraordinary guide, Sergio. We traveled in a small group in a very comfortable minivan. We first visited a charming hillside Quinta, Panascal, for a tasting of their port wines after an orientation of the cellars by Sergio. We next boarded a boat from Pinhao for an hour on the Duoro River. Lunch was an unexpected delight at the remarkable Casa dos Barros (and our host Rita was a ray of sunshine). Our last stop was to Vilarinho de Sao Romano for a very entertaining cellar door tour by the charming Amilcar. He was entertaining and informative throughout our tastings of their wines, olive oil and honeys. The entire day was at a relaxed pace, with time at each stop perfect. Thank you, Sergio and Portugal Excellence Tours for the perfect day, which exceeded my expectations.
