Itinerary
After meeting your expert local guide in central Porto, begin your Porto walking tour. First, enter the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Porto’s center. Learn the origins of Porto from your guide, which was first a Roman outpost, later came under Moorish rule and was mostly decimated in the 19th century by the French.
Next, observe old Romanesque walls and the Porto Cathedral. Then, see classic Baroque architecture as you stroll by the Church of Santa Clara, nearby let your eyes soak up vibrant colors of Moorish tiles that decorate building walls.
Continue along Aliados Avenue to Liberdade Square and listen to the chirp of locals. Arrive at the monument to King Peter IV of Portugal, built to honor the king also known as “The Liberator” and first ruler of Brazil.
After enjoying the historic city center, move on to Ponte de Dom Luis I, a modern double-decker bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel’s protege who gave it an Eiffel touch. Gaze out over the Duoro and view the traditional wooden rabelo boats that once were used to transport grapes to the cellars. Promenade along Cais de Gaia, lined with cellars and learn about how Port (fortified wine) is made. After passing markets and shops, finish your Porto walking tour in Ribeira Square where your friendly guide will bid you adieu.

This tour gives you a great idea of the history of Porto and places of interest. Sofia did a fabulous job informing us of this and where to go and where to eat.

Rodrigo was very informative and excellent in his presentation. He had great stories also.
Recommend this tour.

Sofia was very knowledgeable about Portugal and it's history. Friendly and personable. Brought extra umbrellas since it was raining. She followed up with a list of to-dos. Definitely a rock star of your guides. Highly recommend.

There was much confusion at the meeting point as to who was assigned to which tour guide. Additionally, our tour guide did not show until minutes before the tour was to start. Although Maggie was very knowledgeable, we didn’t feel she was always aware of where her entire group was. She came across as being relatively new to the position. Would recommend this tour to friends , but would note our concerns to them.

This was a great way to see all the significant parts of Porto. The walking was a good place with a coffee break halfway through. Our guide Taissa was extremely knowledgeable.
GaryEdward_P, May 2026
Takes in most of the main historical city sites; our guide was excellent and spoke fluent English. Bring suitable footwear and rain coats if weather poor.
Jon_M, May 2026
It was a good tour to see some good parts of the city. The guide, Sophia was terrific. The weather was perfect.

Our guide Cristobal made walking Porto fabulous! We had a great group of people, and he was full of information about history, architecture, food and wine. He asked our crew what we wanted to learn about before we left the meeting place and he covered every topic. We also loved the stop at the restaurant where we got tea or coffee and a biscuit. Porto is such a wonderful place. I knew it was a great tour despite the on and off rain. Bring your raincoat.

Wonderful walking toyr of old town Porto. Narration was informative and personable. Some stretches of the walk were a bit challenging for some in the group (hilly and steep!). Nice introduction to Porto!

Very bas experience . Our guided wasn't knowledgeable . She asked me if I know places to visit so we can start the tour . She did t have any plan to start the tour . She didn’t even make suggestions of the places we can visit in a city that was our first time to visit . We decided that we will not waste our time with this person ans decided to leave . It was very disapointed

We had such a wonderful experience during our tour. Ramón was so knowledgeable about the city’s history and cultural fun facts. Our group fell in love with the Porto’s market and went back almost all of us together following our amazing guide’s recommendations. Would recommend this tour 10/10!

Great City tour of Porter. Our guide Igor was very knowledgeable about all the history of Porto and Portugal. We saw many sites and learned so much! Definitely take this tour.
Myriam_R, Apr 2026
Ramon was a delight! He knows Porto intimately, and was able to provide detailed information about the various sights. He was also full of interesting and amusing tidbits about the city and its people. His wife is also a guide, so it was fun as we bumped into her tour group along the way and watch them interact. Also fun was running into two women from an earlier tour who came up and gave him a hug, telling us we had the best guide in the city. They were right!

María was an outstanding guide! Fun and very informative. Great recommendations. Very well organized travel company.
Leslie_I, Apr 2026
Interesting tour through the streets of Porto. Ana, our guide obviously knows the city well and was always on hand to deal with extra questions, she spoke with passion while maintaining a good sense of humour. The tour was far from a list of dates and facts which made the time pass quickly. Being a small group has a distinct advantage when moving from location to location through busy walkways. Great way to explore the city.
Mark_F, Apr 2026
Great overview of the city of Porto. Ramon was an amazing guide - he is so passionate and knowledgeable of the city and all its history and beauty. This is a fantastic way to get oriented with the city while you visit.

The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable
Sinead_M, Apr 2026
It’s a great introduction to the city and a good way to get yourself orientated. The walking isn’t strenuous at all!
Deanne_N, Apr 2026
Exceptional overview of the city - great way to orient ourselves on our first day and soak in all the beauty and history.

Teresa really showed us all the highlights with lots of insights. Her special love of art really showed through. We definitely would not have learned so much about Porto had we tried to do this on our own.
Karen_M, Apr 2026
Ramon was very knowledgeable about the city and I loved he used his personal experiences with his mother in law to convey information. Made it personal and real.
Allisa_J, Apr 2026
It was a well organized and detailed tour. Our guide Jose’ was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Porto’s history.
Robert_B, Apr 2026
A terrific walk with a very experienced guide. Igor was super with his insights and fun sense of humor. He gave us hints about when to see very crowded sights in quieter times. Great food suggestions.. if you take a tour try to get with Igor, one of the best
