Amazing experience with Volare. Everything was smooth and well organised from start to finish. Our pilot, Juan Manuel Diaz, was incredibly skilled and had such a great, positive attitude that made the whole flight even better. He got us impressively close to the pyramids, which made the views feel surreal. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

An absolute highlight of my trip to Mexico! Flying over the Teotihuacan archaeological site at sunrise was nothing short of magical.
From start to finish, the entire operation was flawless. The early morning pickup from Mexico City was perfectly on time, and the crew welcomed us with warm coffee and pastries while we watched the massive balloons inflate—a spectacular sight in its own right.
Once in the air, the flight was incredibly smooth and peaceful. Floating silently above the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon as the sun broke over the horizon provided a breathtaking perspective that you simply cannot get from the ground. The pilot was highly skilled, professional, and shared fascinating historical facts about the ruins below while ensuring everyone in the basket felt safe and comfortable.
After landing, we were treated to a traditional sparkling wine toast, a personalized flight certificate, and a delicious breakfast buffet

The flight was wonderful, the captain was amazing, and all the staff were very nice.
The photographer is excellent.

We thought it was just a balloon fair one off but this is the turn out every day, absolutely magical to see and be part of.

Definitely an experience not to be missed! The Volare team was very professional from the pick-up time all the through the end. I was especially impressed with the piloting skill of Mauricio who operated the balloon. He and his crew took us directly over the Temple of the Sun. It will definitely be a memory I will cherish my whole life.
The only thing stopping me from giving five stars was what happened after I chose to add on the stop at Teotihuacan at the end. We were picked up from our drop-off point and taken to what we were led to believe was the entry point to the pyramids. However, a man who may or may not have been affiliated with Volare met us at the drop off point claiming to be a free tour guide. He then led us through some "ruins" and drove us to a place near the actual pyramids which was little more than a tourist trap. It wasn't until we all loudly demanded to be taken to the actual pyramids that he acquiesced. In the end, our three hours at the pyramids get reduced to two. I'm not sure if this "guide" hijacked our trip, or if he worked with Volare in any capacity. In any case, the drivers all went along with it.
At this point, we decided to bail on the trip back and took an Uber back to our hotel.
It's worth it. And Volare was a great outfit to work with. But at the end, don't be afraid to insist on being taken to the actual pyramids at Teotihuacan.

Volare is not affiliated with those vendors, due to strict park enforcement and fines, vehicles must drop off far from gates. We'll work with our transport team to ensure this is clearly explained to guests during transfers.

My husband and I had a great experience with Volare overall. They communicated our pickup time the day before and were right on time. Check-in was easy. They had hot coffee and tea available while we waited.
Our captain, Karen, was awesome, professional and friendly. She got us really close to the pyramids and the views were AMAZING. We had a smooth landing and the crew was waiting for us when we touched down. Definitely bring cash for tips since the crew works hard to get everyone landed safely and efficiently.
There was also a photographer taking photos, plus a 360 camera attached to the balloon. They offer different photo/video packages. We opted for the drone + photo package and were really happy with the quality. These are once-in-a-lifetime memories, so if you think you’ll purchase the photos, remember to smile and wave at the cameras!
Breakfast afterward was nothing to write home about, but the mariachi band was a nice touch. We also opted to explore the pyramids on our own rather than with a guide, which we enjoyed since we could go at our own pace. It was HOT by 11am, so bring a hat, umbrella, sunscreen and water. There is no shade there.
The ride back took almost two hours due to traffic, and unfortunately our van’s AC wasn’t working, so it got pretty hot. Opening the windows helped, and our driver was professional and efficient. Despite that, the experience was definitely worth it!

This was a fantastic day trip. Beautiful views, and super streamlined process. The only painful part was the CDMX traffic on the way back to the city.

The most amazing way to start our trip to Mexico City! Seeing the pyramids from the sky was incredible. We booked the return transfer from Mexico City and the service was seem less. We decided to do a tour of the pyramids so our day was around 0900 hours. But you can if you wish head straight back to MXC after the balloon ride.

Overall was a really great experience. I thought that we will catch the sunrise from the balloon flight which didn’t happened and then I found breakfast poor with so small buffet.

Hot air balloon experience is cool, but they really do not get close to the pyramids we were able to see them but from further away. Everything else was great and the pickup and drop off was smooth.

First the Volare team and Captain Juan were all professional and excellent. I did the Hot Air Balloon and paid additional at the site to add on the pyramids with a tour guide. This was the best birthday adventure ever and Captain Juan was informative, funny and guided us well. I also paid for drone footage and photos because how often does one go up in a balloon viewing the pyramids? The mire you interact with the drone, the better your videos :D. Just make sure you wear good shoes because the basket is high and you do have to climb in and over so make sure your hips and knees are in good order. Bring sunscreen, a hat and water because the pyramids are where you get a workout.
I appreciated that we got to go to a local family who works with Obsidian and got a little Mezcal tasting. Nice pick me up after the pyramids.
Overall this was an excellent tour and the information was built on even more when I did the Museum of Natl Anthropology a few days later. 10/10 for this tour. I’ll be back.

If you want the best view of the pyramids, this is it! Flying directly over them was magical. The team was super well-organized, the guide was fun and engaging, and the landing was remarkably smooth. I also loved having the flexibility at the end to either explore the ruins on foot or catch a ride back to the city. Would 100% recommend it!

When they say they’ll drop you back off at your hotel, they do not mean it. Driver asked us to get out of the van and walk 30 mins back to our hotel. Or we’d have to wait an hour and 50 minutes.

In cases of heavy gridlock, our drivers offer guests the option to walk the final distance as a faster alternative to sitting in traffic. The balloon ride is smooth and safe, an experience to be remembered. The pyramids are great and our guide provided us a fundamental description of the history of the site. It's necessary to have comfortable clothes and shoes as there is quite much to walk.

The tour was great, we were staying near the angel and were picked up on time, received snacks and the baloon ride was very smooth. After the trip we returned and had a breakfast. Would recommend.

Absolutely phenomenal experience from start to finish! Seamless hotel collection and drop off. Free coffee and fruit before the hot air balloon trip. Really smooth ride with just the most incredible views of teotihuacan. Delicious breakfast while the mariachi play and then great transportation to the pyramids. This was great experience for my family. Volare picked us up on time at 4:30am, we watched the balloons being blown up and were in the balloon ride by 7am. Our pilot was very professional and experienced. There was some difficulty landing first time but he managed ok after the 2nd attempt. Our total flying time was 1hr 20 mins.
The photography package was well worth it. They even took awesome drone videos of our flight. We paid around $120 for the pics and drone videos.
After the flight we were treated to Mexican breakfast and local music.
Later we went to visit the teotihuacan pyramids for few hours.
Overall experience was great and no complaints. This was the highlight of our Mexico City trip.

The balloon experience itself was great but they try to sell you something at every possible opportunity and it wasn’t a very comfortable or relaxing experiencing:
1. Hotel pick up was fine but the driver didn’t have his phone on silent so made sleeping impossible.
2. Arrived around 5:20/30 and there are no seats anywhere - so you have to stand around, essentially until you’re back from your ride. No safety briefing was given to anyone - apart from how to brace yourself on landing. There were heaters outside - no seats - one of which was dangerously close to falling apart as it was physically melting from the heat emitted.
3. Volare were some of the last balloons to ascend and we didn’t not see the sunrise from the sky as it had already happened as Volare were late - absolutely no excuse for this considering everyone had been there on time. In their Q&A’s they state that sunrise is the best time for a flight due to the wind and heat, and for the views - we booked off the back of this and categorically did not have a sunrise flight/views. We were likely late to ascend because Volare have photographers who take pictures of everyone and this held the whole process up. Eventually took off around 6:45. We could have been picked up 45-60 mins later from our hotel, as we were just standing around without seats for an hour before the flight. We got 45ish minutes in the air which was decent.
4. Our pilot decided to play music for the whole of the ride so we didn’t get to experience the peace and quiet of being in the clouds. He didn’t even turn it off for a short period of time at the highest point. You’re not going to ask someone who is in charge of your life to turn off their annoying music!
5. Immediately after the ride, whilst you’re still in a field, they will unpack a load of knickknacks to try and sell to you - random obsidian things and what not. Wasting time and being annoying - why am I now standing in a field waiting to go on the waiting van after paying nearly £300 for the experience, so we can be shilled obsidian necklaces?
6. Once you’re back, you’ll be upsold the photos the photographers took before the flight. These were incredible expensive - nearly as much as the flight itself - and really poor quality with the majority being out of focus. You have to sit through this time-share like presentation before you’re allowed to go get breakfast.
7. The quality of breakfast was extremely poor - bland and cold chilaquiles, cold beans and cold and watery cactus. Bring snacks and lunch. It was also accompanied by a very intense mariachi band - who again want tips.
8. We opted to go with a guide for a tour of the pyramids. The guide was okay but, again, constantly upselling obsidian and wasting time showing us it and standing with vendors. This was expensive at $600 and I’d query whether it was worth it.
9. They do not drop you back to your hotel but they drop you near it, due to traffic apparently. The traffic in CDMX is always bad so I don’t understand this. We had to walk 5 minutes which was okay but don’t offer a hotel drop-off if you’re not going to provide it. Driver takes a picture of you getting dropped off for some reason - to confirm they haven’t dropped you at your hotel?
I went with Volare as it was slightly more expensive than others and had hoped for a better experience but the above leaves a lot to be desired for what costed over £300. I’d suggest going with a cheaper provider as at least you won’t feel like you’ve been cheated.

Flight schedules are governed strictly by weather safety rather than fixed sunrise times. Our drivers drop off nearby when necessary to bypass severe city traffic, taking a quick photo solely to confirm passenger arrival. Additionally, just like any worldwide adjacent Landmark it becomes a high-vendors site and those are independent to us. Tipping remains entirely optional. While preferences regarding music, photos, and breakfast selection differ from guest to guest, we appreciate your feedback.

It was great. As a solo traveller, I didnt feel left out. The whole experience was amazing. From the pick up to the drop off. Shout out to our pilot, Juan Manuel Diaz for flying us safely. Also to our tour guide, Enrique for offering to take a photo for me.
I highly recommend this. Plus boking through Aviator is hassle-free. Everything went smoothly. Everything was well coordinated.

We booked this tour for my birthday and the experience was truly unforgettable! Communication and instructions were extremely clear, everyone was so friendly, and the sights were amazing.
