This was an easy decision for us to make - hop on and hop off at will! Spent as much time as we needed at the sights. It was so easy we decided to hit another stop that we hadn’t planned on doing, but turned into a fantastic stop! We had several guides during the day who imparted their knowledge and expertise making the experience great! Family friendly and perfect for solo travelers as well.

Too expensive for what you get

We always take the Hop on/off bus on our first day in a new city and always enjoy the experience. However the cost of the Hop on/off bus in Halifax, does not match the experience. The busses are old and seats barely fit two people (we are average sized people). It was hard to make out the commentary of the guide due to static of the microphone and only 7 stops. On the site, it says $62 per person but it ended up costing $100 per person and when I asked why the jump in price, Viator told me that sometimes the operators increase the cosy due to demand (read: Cruise Ships) I don't feel there was good value for the cost of $100 each - especially when compared to other tours we took in Halifax.

This tour gives you an overview of the city. You can actually get off and back on wherever you see the red signs posted. So, that is nice. We did the whole loop first then stayed on until we wanted to get off. Then we got back on. It was great because it is a little rough walking the steep streets. My biggest complaint is that when you get off the ship, you have a 20 minute walk to the Maritime Museum . Then the check-in is in a yellow shed in front of that building, not inside. Then, we didn't even get a ticket as the instructions said, the attendant just checked off our names.

Halifax is a nice city to visit. Tour around the city was good and we learned a lot of interesting facts and history. What we did not realize though was that the place we had to meet the bus was a good 20-30 minutes walk from cruise port. It was a hot day and certainly would have preferred to get bus much closer to port than have to find the small wooden office far from ship.

Tour guides are knowledgeable. You will go by 7 points of interest with the ability to get on and off at each one. If you are going to stop at all the stops you will need a full day. Great way to see parts of the city.

Cancelled without notice

On Canada Day July 1, I had booked this tour a month in advance to spend the day travelling around Halifax. When I showed up to register, I was told that no buses showed up and that the day was canceled.

We never like cancelling tours, and we recognize the inconvenience this caused, especially when you had planned your visit well in advance. Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen last minute operational issue, we were unable to secure the buses required to properly operate the Hop-On Hop-Off tour. While cancellations are extremely rare, we had no choice but to cancel rather than provide an experience that did not meet our standards. As soon as we became aware that the tour could not operate, we made every effort to notify affected guests as quickly as possible. Thank you again for your feedback. Guest feedback is important to us, and we hope we'll have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience on your next visit to Halifax.

This was a great tour! We got off at 2 stops (the Citadel and Titanic Burial grounds) since we had seen some of Halifax before. Each tour guide was knowledgeable, informative and friendly. We learned so much about Halifax

First time in Halifax

Great H on Hop Off. The check in was a bit dicey because we went through Biator but the bus company allowed us to load at ship instead of stop 2, 10 minute walk which would have been very difficult with recent tendon and knee surgery.

would be a great option for elderly people or folks with mobility issues, but halifax is extremely walkable so we spent more time waiting on the bus than we would have walking to the landmarks. not worth the $ like it is in other cities. having said that the guides were entertaining and had good stories!

Rhonda was a great tour guide. We really enjoyed how much she knew about the tour. We rode the whole route to see it all and then were going to ride again and get off where we wanted the second time. The second time we rode with another lady who talked about buying gummies the whole time. We thought it was very unprofessional and didn't like that, but to each his own. Rhonda made each story have a meaning and even brought some of her own personal experiences into it with her family and such. She was very personable. We enjoyed her tour.

Excellent tour on an enclosed double-decker bus, so the occasional rain did not bother us—excellent narrative throughout the tour. You will have a 10- to 15-minute walk from your cruise ship to the pick-up point.

We bought this tour as a means of getting around downtown Halifax and catching all the sights. We have done other hop on/hop off buses in other cities and downtown Halifax does not disappoint. Engaging commentary with a bit of humour thrown in and you have a wonderful experience. Stay on the bus through all 11 stops then start hopping. Easy to use. Don’t hesitate to book!
