Day Trips from Tenerife to Anaga Mountains (Macizo de Anaga)

Very few excursions combine so much in a single day: the cosmopolitan life of Santa Cruz, capital of Tenerife; the historic center of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage site; and the cloud forest of the Anaga Rural Park, Biosphere Reserve, with spectacular viewpoints over ravines and cliffs. Tour guide included throughout the route.

You will admire the most impressive mountains of Tenerife, where you will appreciate small towns fused between mountains, you will also admire a unique forest in Tenerife, with species of flora and fauna unique to that region.

This tour program was created to explore the most beautiful and protected natural parks on Tenerife island: Volcano Teide & Anaga Cloud Forest. Teide National Park has volcanic landscapes with many ancient craters that will bring a different planet feeling, while Anaga is an always green cloud forest located on the North Eastern tip of Tenerife where Atlantic trade winds form often a sea of clouds. You will be able to discover and explore the unique volcanic landscapes formed on Tenerife during millions years of evolution, sense different climacteric zones, learn about Canary Islands history, endemic flora and fauna during an easy walk or a moderate hike, following the paths of ancient indigenous tribes who habited Canary islands before the arrival of Spaniards. As a photographer I usually make few portraits of the tour guests around natural landscapes we visit. This isn't obligatory though. Optional we can stop at a local restaurant or organise a picnic in nature. See you :)

Join this off-the-beaten-path guided hike in Anaga, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Start from a remote, picturesque authentic village in the wild northeast of Tenerife (1-hour transfer from Santa Cruz de Tenerife). Over 5.5 km with 350 m of elevation gain, the trail offers spectacular views of dramatic mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, and an incredibly beautiful, rugged shoreline. Walk through enchanting mixed forests and discover exclusive, non-public viewpoints that most visitors never reach — at one of them, enjoy close encounters with fearless endemic birds like the stunning Tenerife Blue Chaffinch and the bold local Robin, which approach very near since they’re unafraid of people. This peaceful route sees very few tourists. It includes a short stretch of the protected official Pijaral path — your guide handles all necessary permits. Experience the untouched magic of Anaga in near solitude.

Anaga Rural Park (Parque Rural de Anaga) has epic scenery and exceptional hiking trails—but exploring alone, you’re left with the problem of reaching the trailheads from your hotel and the stress of deciphering maps.
