Join Black H'Mong artisans in Lao Chai Village for an introduction to hemp production, batik design, and natural dyeing with indigo over the course of this full-day textile workshop. You won’t go through all 41 steps needed to complete a design, but you will uncover the meaning behind some of the most important H'Mong folk art symbols and sit down for a traditional H'Mong lunch.

Unlike many cultural experiences that require traveling to remote villages, this workshop takes place conveniently in the heart of Sapa Town, making it easy to fit into your itinerary. Led by a young H'Mong artisan, you'll work with authentic indigo dye made from naturally fermented indigo plants using traditional methods passed down through generations. Rather than simply watching a demonstration, you'll create your own unique design, control the depth of the blue through repeated dyeing, and witness the fascinating oxidation process as the fabric changes color before your eyes.
