There’s no cost just to visit Cook’s Bay, a long, narrow bay on Moorea’s northern coast. It’s a popular spot for cruises, water sports, and jet-skiing, thanks to its sheltered waters and views. You'll pay around US$70 for a half-day tour of Moorea that includes Cook’s Bay, and around US$200 for a jet-skiing tour.

Enjoy some of the best views of Cook’s Bay—and the whole of Moorea island—from the Belvedere Lookout in the island’s center. Reach the lookout by traveling inland on rugged mountain roads from the north of the island. You can rent a car to drive yourself or take a guided tour.

Cook’s Bay is on Moorea’s northern coast, while the island’s ferry terminal and airport are on the northeastern coast. While there is a public bus service on Moorea, it’s infrequent and unreliable, so it’s better to take a taxi, rent a car, or take a hotel shuttle if you’re staying at accommodation in Cook’s Bay that can arrange it.

The best time of day to visit Cook’s Bay depends on what you want to do. Morning is a good time for many water sports, as the sun’s glare isn’t as strong. For a refreshing swim, visit in the afternoon heat. Don't skip a late afternoon and evening stop to watch the sunset.

Yes, you can swim and kayak in Cook’s Bay. The water is clear and usually calm. However, the bay doesn’t have Moorea’s best beaches, and in some places no sandy shore at all, so you may prefer to swim or snorkel from a boat. Some hotels and independent tour operators rent out kayaks.
