Not to be missed
Getano our guide was absolutely wonderful, so full of interesting facts and descriptions and really brought the origins of Matera to life. You get to learn the history of its beginning right up to current day, utterly fascinating and not to be missed if you are visiting Matera. If we hadn’t joined Getano’s tour we would not have gained a full appreciation of just how amazing Materamis. Getano has a fabulous personality, is fun and great at imparting information and his English is perfect. We explored at a very relaxing pace and the use of a very comfortable ear piece which just rests softly on the outside of your ear means you don’t miss out on any of the commentary. Cannot recommend highly enough, such an enjoyable experience which took just over 2 hours.

Excellent walking tour!
Our guide was great! She was knowledgeable, provided great information about the history of Matera and the Murgia. I appreciated that she took time to answer questions and to make sure that we all understood her explanations. Fun way to spend the morning!

Lost in Italian
I did the tour knowing it was in Italian but there was no English option at that time. I loved walking around in the evening and the point is to view the sight. The best part and why I booked the tour was the entry to a church and cave house that I otherwise would not have seen.

Couple from Indy
Our guide Stephania (Stephanie) was truly wonderful. She made our 3hour private tour of a truly magical city absolutely memorable. She is very knowledgeable and has a warm & sincere personality. We felt very relaxed & could readily tell that Stephania really knew the history & culture of the town/region. We would recommend her to everyone who plans on visiting this spectacular place. She’ll make your time very worthwhile

A must-do!
A must-do when you arrive in magical Matera. The tour really helped give you a sense of the history and layout of this most amazing town. The city is larger and more complex than you realize so a tour helps give perspective. We walked about 2 miles up and down - so be prepared and wear good shoes.

This was such an easy...
This was such an easy tour to go on - our tour guide picked us up right at the hotel. He spoke great English and was able to answer all of our questions. It was raining and he shared his umbrella whenever we wanted to get out to take photos. He took us to an example house of what the caves used to look like while they were lived in. Really, a fantastic experience. Very happy we went with this tour 🙂

Fun way to see the city!
Super fun way to see Matera and get some history. We had done a walking tour earlier in day and I was afraid it was going to be same thing. It was not. It built on the other tour. This tour stopped at a recreated cave house and the miniature museum as well as great viewpoints and church of St. Peter. It rained on our evening tour but it was still fun.

Walking Tour Matera
We were late to join the walk due to parking, but luckily we were able to catch up with Angela and join the tour which was excellent. Very educational and Angela was very good.
Only feedback, is that Viator should tell people that you can’t park anywhere near where the walk starts. You need to park in the town itself. This caused us to be 20 minutes later.

A must do!
Thanks to Georgia we really enjoyed this tour and would never have seen some of the streets without her! She spoke excellent English and thanks to the headsets we could hear everything as some of the areas were crowded. I liked the smaller group and would highly recommend this tour.

So glad we booked the tuk...
So glad we booked the tuk tuk tour with Vito. We saw so much of Matera that we would not have seen in the short time we were here. Vito was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of historic facts of the Sassi. We even went to a small cave museum and had lots of photo opportunities. Would highly recommend this tour.

Definitely do this!
Amazing! The wine is also reasonably priced! Our guide Peter was very knowledgeable and even shared some history about wine and regions, this was our favorite tour and they were not skimpy on the wine. Each wine portion was enough to satisfy the palate and enjoy the flavor! The food was delicious and well balanced with each wine!
