Wonderful guide - Lucy
Lucy was our amazing guide for this excursion. She met us with great enthusiasm, wonderful smile and a terrific plan. Every step of the way she explained what we were exploring, as well as the background stories. She navigated us through trains, subways, venniculars with ease. At the end of the trip, she took us to a wonderful restaurant where the owner and his wife prepared an outstandinng Japanese luncheon just for the 4 of us (5 if you count Lucy). If you want a wonderful guide, who you will instantly love, ask for Lucy.

Great Kobe highlights tour
The guide, Emi, took us to a sake brewery for a tour and tasting, which was very interesting. She then took us to a shrine and explained some of the customs of that religion. A wedding happened to be taking which added to the interest. Then she took us for lunch at an old and well established Kobe beef restaurant for lunch. That was the highlight of the tour, and the food was delicious. We highly recommend the tour and Emi.

Yama-san was an exceptional tour guide. Friendly and knowledgeable he crafted an itinerary for us that included everything we wanted to see and do while in Kobe. He was funny and approachable and he made sure our time in Kobe was unforgettable. Thank you so much, Yama-san!

This is the one you want
Everything about this experience was excellent. Zack contacted me shortly after booking to go over an itinerary. He asked questions and made suggestions for changes to capture the spirit of what we were looking to do, but reduce the crowds. As it turns out, his changes ended up being our favorite part of the day. This is why you choose Zack! A few days before our ship was on port, Zack confirmed again. That morning we connected via WhatsApp. He met us right at the cruise terminal; it was easy. We walked right to his car and began our day. He had a paper itinerary for us, which was exactly what we discussed months earlier. On the drive, we got to know each other better. Zack provided some information and asked what sorts of things we might want to eat, see, or experience not in our plans. Zack parked right at out first spot and we began! He provided details on what we were seeing, and offered to take pictures for us. Our first stop allowed us to choose how long we stayed, saw, or experienced and Zack went along with our whims. It was very busy. We then drove to our next spot, which was Zack's recommendation. It was beautiful and had very few tourists. It was a delight after the crowds of our first spot. We then drove to our last area, which allowed us to walk to several spots we wanted to see. Zack recommended a coffee shop for lunch, which was excellent. As we walked around, he provided interesting information regarding what we were seeing and made suggestions on other places we could go while we were there. We went into some shops and he helped us interact with the clerks. We had a little extra time so he found us another easy thing to enjoy to ensure we maximized our time. I let Zack know early in the day I was collecting Goshuin, and he helped us interact with the staff as each spot operated a bit differently. I got three wonderful Goshuin this day! We arrived back at the Pier after a full day, but with plenty of time. This was the way to experience Kyoto from a cruise ship. We got as much as we could have out of the day despite the time restrictions, and Zack made it a thoroughly enjoyable and comfortable experience. If we're able to come back to the area again, we would seek Zack out again without hesitation.

Sake and Fun. Chicken or egg situation. Recommend.
Great tour. HiroMan was great. Went to 4 breweries. Lots of background and history on Sake production in the region. Don’t drive to the event ;). The tour is located between Kyoto and Kobe. After the tour we did a quick train to Kobe for a meal. Makes for a good day trip.

Kodai is the best tour guide !
What a great tour with Kodai. He took great care of us and was very enthusiastic. His English was outstanding and we understood everything. I knew even before the tour that we were going to have a great experience. He was in touch with us and coordinated the start time to accommodate our arrival by ship into Kobe. Kodai gave us a very authentic view and experience of Kobe. His guided tour of the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum was fantastic. He took us through a street with local food vendors and recommended dishes to try.

Kobe is a hidden gem
The tour I had already booked 2 years ago and on another visit with family it was even worth it a second time. Sumile-San gives interesting insights into Japanese culture and leads through Kobe with a lot of charm and wit.
Also this time the lunch was very good with perfect service.

We went to the Engyoji...
We went to the Engyoji Temple where they filmed the Last Samurai. We were basically the only visitors there, so it was very peaceful as I had imagined. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We then went back to Kobe and had the best Kobe beef at Mouriya Lin. Some of us proceeded to walk back to the ship through the shopping streets. and the others were taken back by car. It was a most enjoyable day!

You can do it all with the right guide
Ryan was an outstanding guide and made the entire day feel effortless. He connected with us right away, kept everything organized without rushing, and shared just the right amount of insight at each stop.
He also took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch that we never would have found on our own. The Shinkansen from Kobe to Kyoto was a highlight in itself, and Ryan made sure we experienced it the right way.
We covered a lot in Kyoto without it ever feeling overwhelming, which really speaks to how well he managed the day. If you have the chance to tour with him, take it.

Leave it to the locals
We left our day in our guide, Ryan's capable hands. When he suggested a visit to a herb garden, we were somewhat sceptical, but WOW, it was fantastic and totally unexpected. A real hidden gem. After exploring the Nunobiki Herb Gardens we made our way through Kitano with their well preserved merchant homes. And no visit to Kobe would be complete without sampling their beef. Ryan took us to an area known only to locals, where we had lunch. The Ikuta Shrine was a touch of serenity before hitting Chinatown and the end of our walking tour.

Kobe excursion tour
Michelle was an amazing tour guide during our stop in Kobe. Since it was our first time there and we had limited time at port, we really appreciated how much she was able to show us in such a short amount of time.
We did a walking tour that also included riding the subway, which gave us a great feel for the city and how locals get around. Michelle made everything easy and stress-free while still fitting so much into our day.
She introduced us to local candies, Kobe beef, and ice cream, all of which were amazing and made the experience even more memorable. It felt like we were able to experience a great mix of the local culture and food in just a few hours.
Michelle was friendly, knowledgeable, and organized, and we are so glad we got to spend our time in Kobe with her. I would definitely recommend her to anyone visiting Kobe for the first time!

Wonderfully tailored for 2 older couples!
We are two couples in our 70s. We move kind of slow and our hearing is not the best. We visited on a HAL cruise ship and we knew the large bus tours would be difficult for us, and the private HAL tours were amazingly expensive. Then we found the tours on Viator, which were reasonable. We hoped this would work, and it did!
Our guide Aki tailored the tour perfectly for the 4 of us. She navigated us through the numerous subway and train stations - buying us the right tickets and showing us how to use them - and knowing how to walk from the train to the subway and back to the train. And walking slow enough, and using elevators and escalators. We could have never done it alone.
We did the Carpentry Museum, the gondola ride to the herb garden and touring some of the garden, a lunch (she found something for the picky eaters in the group), a Shinto Temple, and a Sake tasting. We did everything we possibly could have done in 7 hours in Kobe. And there is no way we could have done half of it without Aki's expert guidance.
We learned a bit about Kobe and Japan and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend this experience. Being able to take a break when needed, and having the guide repeat what they said when needed, was just what we needed.
