We start from Tenuta delle Ripalte, a splendid private resort on the Costa dei Gabbiani, we will pass from the only equestrian center on Elba, to descend to the sea through pristine beaches and seeing the Italian coast in the distance. The departure of the excursion is from the village of Capoliveri, one of the oldest on Elba. We will drive along the scenic road that leads from the town to the mining area, then detour and descend near the Innamorata beach, famous for the legend of the same name. Once upon a time, iron ore arrived here, via a network of tracks, which was loaded onto the boats that transported it to the blast furnaces. We will follow the path of the old railway, of which today little more than a path remains, immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, between Ginestre and rosemary. Set off from Marina di Campo for a fascinating 5-hour kayaking adventure along the scenic south coast of Elba. Sail among granite formations and discover hidden coves, including the tranquil beach of Ischia and the enchanting Fonza, with its dark rock coves ideal for a regenerating swim. Glide past the spectacular cliffs of Punta le Mete, rich in marine life, before entering the Grotta dell’Acqua, a refuge for seabirds. Explore one of the most advanced mines in Europe in the late 70s. The mines were in operation from 1971 to 1981 and it was one of the most modern mines in Europe, built with very innovative criteria for the time. At the time of the interruption of the mining activity, only 1/3 of the deposit had been exploited, despite the fact that there is still a lot of iron in the depths, available up to 250 meters below sea level.
