I really enjoyed this tour! The scenery was absolutely stunning, and the entire experience was well worth it. My guide, Konti, was friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout the day. I also appreciated his responsible driving, especially given the distances and terrain involved. Charyn Canyon was absolutely breathtaking but also incredibly cold, so I would definitely recommend dressing warmly and coming prepared. Kolsai Lake was another highlight, with beautiful scenery and excellent food at the restaurant overlooking the lake. The traditional Kazakh tea was especially welcome and a wonderful way to warm up on such a chilly day. As for Kaindy Lake, I had intentionally avoided looking at pictures beforehand because I wanted to be surprised. And wow, was I surprised! I was absolutely blown away by what I saw. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced, and I'm so glad I got to see it without knowing what to expect. Definitely a place worth visiting! Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kazakhstan!

Action packed tour, core memories made

As a solo traveller, there's a lot of choices to be made on such a short time, is this the right tour for me? The answer is YES, you're probably reading this from the comfort of your own home miles away thinking about this tour, BOOK IT! Yes, it's a long day but it's absolutely worth it, you see some amazing places. Kaindy lake is the highlight for sure, it's the main reason I visited. We were taken around by our guide Ayau, she was incredible, well spoken in English and she can even speak 4 languages! We were asking her questions all day and even had a sing song on the bus across the Kazakh desert roads 😂 Ayau is a credit to the organisation and also as a solo traveller, a fantastic photographer! Book this tour, you won't regret it. There are stops along the way that require coins for toilets, the bus had USB-C charger points too! There's also a stop off with some eagles where you get 15 minutes, you can pay much cheaper rate than Shymbulak, save your Tenge!

Fantastic tour & guide - ask for Ax

This tour experience was fantastic from start to finish! I did have to write to the company directly & request to be able to book solo, but once on the tour there were several other solo travelers so I think that may have been a Viator control, not the operator. Communication was clear & thorough from before the tour even began, both from the company prior to my trip, and from our tour guide the day before. Axsultan, or Ax, was one of the best tour guides I've ever had, especially on a tour like this which was only 2 days, with a fairly large group of ~32 people. I lucked out with a great group of travelers, for sure, but Ax also had a lot to do with keeping the energy of the whole group positive and exciting. Ax speaks excellent English, and he made sure to give clear directions & info about the country, places we saw, and details about pickup times, meeting times, options for what to do at the various sites, etc, which was very much appreciated! He also gave some good recs for Almaty after the tour. I cannot complain about anything from this 2 day tour with Ax, and I'd add that if you're debating between the long 1 day trips covering the same sites vs this option, go for overnight if you have the time. It's well worth it!

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The lakes and canyons were incredibly beautiful, and we were given ample time to enjoy all of them without feeling rushed. Nurzhan was a great guide and we enjoyed our time with him. The guesthouse was also very welcoming, and we had a unique experience staying in the yurt. I would strongly recommend the 2-day tour over the day tour as Kaindy lake was the best part.

Fantastic day of exploring Kazakhstan's incredible landscapes! The wide-open, endless views at Assy Plateau were breathtaking, the hike to Bear Waterfall was super refreshing, and finishing the trip by the turquoise waters of Issyk Lake made for a perfect day in nature. Saida was an amazing guide—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring every part of the journey went smoothly. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Almaty!

Fabulous Almaty city tour!

Roza was an incredible tour guide. I was the only one who booked on my day so we ended up doing a 3-ish hour private tour. Roza had so much interesting information to share from the history of Almaty, stories about the buildings we saw, and loads of interesting facts about Kazakh life and culture. We took a 2-day tour from Almaty to Altyn Emel National Park with Kazakhstan Very Nice. It was a great tour! The guide was very friendly, spoke good English, and had a sense of humor! Communication beforehand was handled very well via WhatsApp. The tour includes a hotel pick-up. At the end of the tour, we had a different hotel, and that was absolutely no problem for the drop-off. Everything in the tour is as described! We stayed in a very well-maintained guesthouse. The food was very tasty and more than sufficient (vegetarian options are available here). The rooms had twin beds and a private bathroom. The accommodation has Wi-Fi. During our tour, we saw a small snake, a lizard, and gazelles a few times. Our guide showed us how the Singing Dune works. It was nice that we returned to the Guesthouse after the sand dune and had the opportunity to shower again. We concluded the tour with a delicious lunch at the Guesthouse before heading back to Almaty. Another huge plus: We were a small group of 4 (including the guide) in a 4x4. I highly recommend this tour! We had a great experience.

Amazing Experience, Beautiful Nature

Absolutely fantastic, it was an amazing experience. Below is some information for those considering booking, including some things I was wondering about before booking. First, you depart from the parking lot in front of the circus at 5:00 AM. City buses and the metro aren't running yet, so it's best to get to the meeting point on foot or by using Yandex Go. In my case, boarding started at 5:00 AM and departure was around 5:10 AM, but I think it's better to be there by 4:30 AM just in case. You can't charge your devices on the bus, so I recommend bringing a portable charger. Also, you'll often have to pay in cash for toilet breaks, meals, and activities like horseback riding, so it's good to have some cash on hand. Additionally, it will possibly rain, so I recommend you to bring jacket and umbrella. As for Lake Kaindy, the bus will take you as far as you can walk to. Lunch is free if you bring it yourself, but you can also use the restaurants and cafes there. The tour ended around 10:30 PM, but apparently it can be as late as 11:00 PM depending on traffic.

2 day Mountain Lake and Desert Canyon tour

This was an enjoyable tour I would recommend for some of the great highlights in the area with a flexible tour guide and driver. I liked that we had meals with family owned places with a friendly atmosphere.. we had a good group too! Aika welcomed questions and took time to see if we needed anything and offered options for stops. The driver also took care and looked after us..a real professional!
