I got a rooftop ticket handed to me by the tour operator that’s expired says the ticket control when they scanned it at entry to rooftop. It was a half-baked experience. I ended up buying new ticket for over $30. Viator I believe did nothing. If they did, perhaps refunded me a fraction of the cost, a gesture that is outrightly insulting rather than consoling.

Short, but to the point. The guide explained the history of the Cathedral and how it was built. He gave us a lot of information inside and then explain how to get to the Terrace on our own. Definitely worth it.

Guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. You get a better experience with a guide. The roof top tour portion is somewhat separate. Still apart of the tour, however, travel to the rooftop is on your own. I would recommend this tour

You can get tickets cheaper online or in person.
The tour was approx 10 minutes along…I was expecting more. Then the guide left us to explore roof top ourselves. He gave us like 5 facts and left.

The experience was wonderful. The meet up was a little confusing. The Piazza was busy and tour group leaders aren’t allowed to carry flags, etc. The Duomo is lovely! We took the lift to the roof but there are still many steps to the top and then down again. The stained glass was incredible. And all the statuary , of course. If you are in Milano, you shouldn’t miss this!

The tour was about 50 minutes and our guide was fantastic. He brought along a iPad to show us various facts about the cathedral and its construction. The rooftop was self guided and worth every penny. Such an extraordinary structure.

The meetup area was clear, making it was easy to find the guide before the tour. The tour organizer also explained how the tickets worked (adult tickets were just one piece of paper/QR code; children had separate tickets for the church and the rooftop). Note that adult tickets are also good for entry to the museum, but children tickets are not-- that wasn't clear ahead of time, and only after I asked the tour operator onsite did she explain it. The tour itself was decent but pretty basic and seemed a little rushed, it went a little shorter than advertised (40-45'). We were able to go right in, and afterward there was no line whatsoever for the lift to the roof. The cathedral and the views from rooftop are incredible.

Italy is super hot in June. Recommend the LIFT to the top. Lots of stairs. Remember u need to keep shoulders covered when entering the Cathedral. Wonderful history and exquisite stained glass windows!

Worth it and not worth it.
Worth it for us due to time constraints we had. Knowing that we had it planned and able to see it all gave me piece of mind. Our daughter had a travel conflict so we had 1 afternoon to see both Duomo and Last supper. The guide was great. He had pictures and stories that explained the interior- you do rooftop on your own. It was towards the end of the day and he knew one area would be shut down soon so he made sure to get us there to see it. The stain glass art was beautiful. Side note- I highly recommend you take elevator up to top.
But all of this comes at a premium price: we paid about $80 a person and you can get interior and rooftop tickets for 30 online. So if you have the time, I would purchase on own and follow along with Rick Steves guide. Almost everything in Rick Steves walking guide was mentioned by our guide.

If you can get tickets to the roof and the church don’t do this. Guide’s English barely legible. The headphones given were full of static. Only do if it is last minute. You do skip the line

Future travelers think twice!
Main complaint is the “guided” tour was guided for 15-2mins vs. what’s advertised.
Balance of tour was self guided.
Secondly just buy the tickets yourself once at Duomo. $26 euro combo with rooftop lift vs. the +$70 here for basic google info.

The cathedral was beautiful inside and out. The rooftop was the best! Weather was perfect to enjoy the sunshine on the rooftop. Took the lift up, and the stairs down. Able to visit the museum which we didn’t expect, statues were amazing.

Unfortunately our tour of the Duomo and rooftop was quite a poor experience. This was not down to the guide, Roberto, who was clearly very knowledgeable. We could sense Roberto’s frustration when at every point of the tour he was told to move on as the Duomo was going to close! He was cut short right at the start when he attempted to describe the outside of the Duomo to us but was asked to move us on inside. We then did a whistle stop tour with no time to explore inside the Duomo on our own as was promised. We were then just told ‘the stairs are round the corner’ for doing the rooftop part of the ‘tour’. No ‘tour’ involved in this part, it is just go yourself! We do not feel we received the promised tour and it was definitely not value for money. The tour operator should not have booked a tour at that time if the Duomo was going to close so soon after the start of the tour as they could not deliver what was promised. I am trying to work out how to submit a complaint on Viator but it appears almost impossible to do so!

It's not worth the money you get the minimalist guided tour. You cant eve hear the guide for most of it because the receivers and ear pieces are so terrible. He's been most of the time waiting and maybe 20 minutes of guided tour. You're better off just buying the tickets by yourself and doing the audio tour it's cheaper and get way more out of it. Also the to get to the elevator is not skip the line and you get no guided tour on the rooftop you're on your own.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. I love when they point out things that you would just pass by and not even notice. Rooftop gave us a great view of the city, but be warned that the spires block some view and if you go on a warm day, it is VERY warm up there.

We were given the wrong time, could not find the Guide and as a consequence had far too little time in the Museum. There were too many people on the tour so we could not hear or see the Guide, nor have access to all the information he was showing on his IPad.
When the Guide was told we could not hear him and was asked to speak more slowly, he failed to do so. The reception over the headphones was extremely poor and the Guide did not appear to be trying to speak clearly into his microphone.

Our guide was really good and very knowledgeable. What let the tour down was the audio headset which was terrible and everyone in the group couldn't hear him as there was a lot of interference. That part was disappointing.
