This was the best walking tour that I’ve done. The whole family enjoyed it. Alice was knowledgeable and funny. She took the time to learn everyone’s names. My teenage sons even enjoyed it, so I would recommend booking it for families or solo travelers. It’s also a great way to learn about the history and layout of the city.

Fantastic tour of the picturesque Yorkshire Dales.
This is a fantastic tour. The places you visit are so lovely and picturesque. We were lucky enough to be in Grassington when the television crew was setting up signs etc. to film another episode of All Creatures Great and Small! Very cool! The coach you ride in is very comfortable. Our tour guide was funny and very informative and made the tour a delight. We had lots of time at each stop to wander and take photos (and have snacks and lunch). The long time we had at Bolton Castle was especially enjoyable. We highly recommend this experience to all humans -- great and small!!

Fantastic all around. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and was a gifted storyteller. We stopped at multiple off the beaten track places- ancient churches, ruins, villages. This tour had it all for those wanting historical context and a trip to the Moors and Whitby on the sea.

Brilliant!
We had the absolute best time on the Shadows of York tour last night. I went with my friend and our six kids (three each), and our guide, Dan, was phenomenal.
He was incredibly engaging, funny, and informative, bringing the history to life in a way that kept the entire group captivated. Dan is a massive asset to Shadows of York—the 90 minutes didn't feel long enough and we all could have listened to him for much longer. Highly recommend booking this!

Our tour Guide Mark was at the meeting place before time. He quickly organised people for their seats and we left just before the tour time. Mark was very knowledgeable and gave very clear information about the places we were travelling through. He was very knowledgeable. Mark ensured all passengers were comfortable at all times. It was a fabulous tour and we saw a lot of different things that you wouldn’t know about if you didn’t take the tour.
I would certainly recommend this tour and Mark was a great guide.

Great Fun
Molly our guide was Brilliant, very interesting and fun.. Told us about so much history of York and Harry Potter too of course, we played games, answered questions. There was only 5 on our tour including Molly, we all laughed a lot.I would definitely recommend this tour to anybody. I've recently started booking up for walking tours in any new town or city I visit now. I've even started doing walking tours in my own city too.

History with a difference
A great way to take in some history and be entertained at the same time. Pleased we did this on our first night in the city, a good introduction.
Daffyd was theatrical and projected his voice, so I had no problems hearing although I wear hearing aids.
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed tour.

A fun time at York Cocoa Works
Began with an informative talk on the chocolate making process, including an opportunity to taste plain and milk chocolate before making own bar to take home. Group size quite small so not waiting around for a long time. Had a choice of chocolate type, toppings and moulds. Found using a hair drier was a surprisingly quick and efficient method to melt the chocolate. Could collect finished chocolate bar after a 30 min wait. Very well organised and an enjoyable experience,

Great Ghost walk in York
Had a great Ghost walk in York with Lew (or is it spelt Lou??). He was a really good guide. We picked this tour as it wasn't people jumping out and scaring us. We wanted to find out a bit of Ghostly history of York and we did. It was a really fun experience. There were only 9 in our group which was a nice number and felt very personal. We saw other groups that night with at least 30 people in them, we wouldn't have wanted that as felt we would have missed so much. Very interesting and fascinating facts about York, really enjoyed the evening

Come Hungry!!
Excellent tour of independent food/drink businesses in York city centre with just the right mix of York history thrown in to the mix. Ben, our guide, took us through an amazing tasting experience of cheese, fish & chips, gin, chocolate, burritos, macarons, tapas, sherry and sticky toffee pudding with beer. All of which in really interesting and historic buildings.
If you like food and drink and history then this is the tour for you. Come hungry though!

The most comprehensive York tour in all of York.
Dave is so knowledgable and truly joyful about his history niche that this tour is overloaded with reasons to go. It was unique in that it was open-ended - as long as we wanted to make the tour. He offered an all-day option - though I left after 3 ish hours and a lovely coffee break, during which Dave also demonstrated his James Bond trivia expanse. Rarely does one see someone so enjoying his job.

Truly amazing experience - highly recommend
Absolutely amazing! I loved the interactive format, the actors were brilliant - some too realistic …
My 9 year old grandson loved it too although some parts were a little too scary for him. I had to keep reminding him it was pretend which shows just how good it was! My favourite part was when he was chosen for ‘execution’ - apparently grandma isn’t supposed to shout ‘execute him’ with such enthusiasm.
Would 100% recommend this. I did balk at the cost at first but it was worth every penny.
Only one negative but not enough to downgrade - as someone with a disability, the unevenness of the floor together with the dark made me a little hesitant but still not enough to downgrade the experience. Oh and if you are disabled and need the toilet, find somewhere else to go beforehand as they are situated out of the building, up some steps and down some stairs!
Take your kids, frighten them half to death and then laugh about it all afterwards!
