Learned a lot and ate more!
Great experience with wonderful teacher. It was just my husband and myself so we got personal attention but a group would have been fun too. The only drawback was that when it had me pick my pick my hotel it didn’t mention there was an extra charge, I thought it was included or it would have informed me when I booked.

This class was...
This class was incredible!!! The process felt so intimate and well thought out. I was happy and laughing throughout, and I felt really welcomed into the home. The food was absolutely delicious and I was really grateful to recieve the recipes so I can recreate them myself. I would highly recommend to anyone travelling solo or in a group - you won't regret it!

Most fun I had over 3 days in Bali
It’s an absolute blast. We learned about how to make a daily offering basket and cook 9 Balinese dishes. This is a hands-on experience, so be prepared to do some cooking. The market tour in the morning was fascinating. The service picked us up at our hotel and took us home. This experience is an exceptional value. The chef also took pictures and sent them to everyone who had Whatsapp and included a printed copy and pdf of all the recipes. The staff were very attentive, helpful, and friendly. It was my favorite activity in Bali by a LONG shot. If you like learning by doing and are interested in learning about the local cuisine, you really should book this event!

Absolute Must Book!! Cooking Experience
If you’re looking for an authentic, unforgettable experience in Ubud, this private Balinese cooking class at Putu’s home is an absolute must.
From the very beginning, Putu went above and beyond—she and her husband personally picked us up from our hotel, making us feel welcomed right away. When we arrived at her family home, it felt like stepping into the heart of Balinese culture. Putu took the time to walk us through her home, explaining her family temple, traditions, and daily customs in a way that was both fascinating and deeply personal.
One of the highlights was touring her garden, where she grows many of the ingredients used in the class. It was incredible to see everything so fresh and organic—truly farm-to-table at its finest. We were even treated to a refreshing coconut drink, freshly harvested right from her own tree!
The cooking class itself was hands-on, fun, and incredibly informative. Putu guided us step by step as we prepared six authentic Balinese dishes, thoughtfully adjusting each recipe to match our spice tolerance. From chopping and slicing to learning traditional techniques, she made everything approachable and enjoyable.
After cooking, we sat down to enjoy the delicious meal we had created together—and it was absolutely amazing. Every dish was bursting with flavor, made even more special by the experience behind it.
Putu is truly one of the sweetest and most hospitable hosts you could ever meet. Her warmth, knowledge, and passion for sharing her culture made this experience far more than just a cooking class—it was a genuine cultural immersion.
Highly, highly recommend—this was easily one of the best experiences of our trip!

More than a tour, a rich cultural experience that shouldn't be missed!
This was so much more than a cooking class, it was a rich cultural experience. We learned so much about Balinese culture, traditions, farming and village life from Dewa. My husband said it was one of the most meaningful tours we have ever done (in the 48 countries we have visited). Can't recommend this enough!

Lots of fun
It was very nicely done. The chef was very attentive and really showed us the techniques, not just the recipe. The information shared was very interesting. He was very good teaching my 18 year old son. The food was delicious and sharing the experience with other tourists was wonderful. Highly recommend.

Amazing time with some amazing Balinese guys
We have lived in Indonesia for 8 years and this is our 6th time to Bali. This cooking class is one of the best experiences we’ve ever had traveling, and we have been to lots of cooking classes before. You get to go out and pick most of the ingredients (the veggies) off the plants, and you are fully involved in the entire cooking experience. The young guys who lead this class are amazing: they are fun, have great English, and are very eager about what they do. We sat around for probably an hour after we ate and just chatted about their life, soccer (football), and all sorts of things. We were there for probably 4 1/2 hours and it is the highlight of our trip to Bali so far. Highly recommend!!
