Our hiking tour will start from Kastraki village, which is located very close to the Meteora rocks. Soon we will see the old ruins of Pantokrator monastery. From there we will walk through the huge rocks of Meteora by crossing a gorgeous forest. Very soon we will reach the monastery of Large Meteoron Metamorphosis, the first and largest monastery in this earlier monastic state. From the parking lot, we will hike on an old and abandoned trail to the secluded Ypapantis monastery, behind the rock towers. After a good round of 2 hours, we will come back to the Kastraki village. We will also visit some spots with awesome view of Kalambaka, the valley of Pinios and the great Pindos peaks. In total, we will visit the insides of 2 monasteries, depending on the day of visit.

On your hike we will see the mountain fountains, the cave of Zas, which according to legend is the place where the young Zeus found refuge to avoid the vengeful wrath of Kronos. We suggest 2 hiking options based on your personal experience. We have the easy and medium level options. In the easy option, the hike will start from the old church of Agia Marina and we will end up at the summit of Za. The duration of the route is approximately 3 hours. The 2nd and medium difficulty option starts from the fountain of Aries, we meet the Za cave and continue to the summit and then return to Agia Marina. The duration of the route is approximately 3 1/2 hours. The guide is a certified and local guide, and lives in Filoti which is located below the Za mountain. He has extensive experience of the area and historical knowledge.
