A Powerful Journey Through History, Heritage, and Healing

My tour of Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle, and the Assin Manso Slave River with Expedition Go Tours and our driver, Emanuel, was an incredibly powerful and unforgettable experience. Emanuel was professional, knowledgeable, and made the entire journey smooth and enjoyable. While the day was emotionally heavy, it was also deeply meaningful. Walking the same paths that my ancestors walked before being forced into slavery was both eye-opening and heartbreaking. There were moments that brought me to tears as I reflected on the suffering, resilience, and strength of those who came before us. Visiting the castles and Assin Manso gave me a much deeper understanding of history and a stronger appreciation for my origins and heritage. The experience was moving in a way that is difficult to put into words. I also had the opportunity to connect with others and learn more about the history and culture of Ghana, which made the tour even more impactful. I highly recommend this tour to anyone, but especially to people of African ancestry. It is an emotional journey, but one that provides invaluable perspective, connection, and understanding. The timing was super . We visited the temple before it opened to tourist we were alone. The Khao sok lake was amazing the lunch 5 stars.the bamboo raft ok. All in all a great day The neg for me was the price differences between me and others in my group. I traveled solo and had to pay a premium 185 € another man also traveled solo and only paid 65€ . So do your best to find prices or even wait until you come. I booked 6 months in advance. . Like I said a great activity but an unfair price difference.

I had a wonderful experience visiting the Similan Islands. The organization of the tour was excellent from start to finish, everything was smooth and well planned. The two guides were very professional, friendly, and gave clear instructions that made everyone feel safe and comfortable throughout the trip. I also really appreciated the attention to dietary preferences. Since I don’t eat meat, they kindly offered me a fish option, which was thoughtful and much appreciated. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Similan Islands!

This tour really only covers the part of Ghana’s history that you can understand from Accra city, but it shows how deep the culture and history of the country can go. It definitely helped that our guide, Emmanuel, was very knowledgeable about the city, including places that were not stops on this particular tour.

Best part of trip! Samuel made it memorable and couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

This trip was one my partner and I were drawn too as our first time in Accra and Africa as a whole - from the moment Samuel (Sammie) picked us up he treated us like family. From teaching us Twi sayings on the drive (and correcting our terrible accents) all the way to giving us space to sleep after a long night. He gave us options, space and ultimately an eye opening experience seeing the castles. 5 stars all around we’ll be back with our family soon!

Cape Coast Guided Tour with a Kind and Engaging Host

The Cape Coast guided tour was a meaningful and memorable experience, made even better by Mensah’s (tour host) kindness, patience, and willingness to answer questions. The site tours at Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle, and Kakum Park were rich, informative, and thoughtfully paced, offering important historical and cultural context that deepened the experience of visiting Cape Coast. Tips for future travelers: The ride to Cape Coast is quite long (4-5 hours depending on traffic & road conditions). When we traveled, there was ongoing road construction along parts of the route which made the ride very bumpy at times. I highly recommend bringing a small pillow for comfort, snacks and water, medication if you’re prone to motion sickness, and—most importantly—patience. The journey is well worth it, but being prepared will make it much more enjoyable. Overall, this was an excellent tour led by a gracious and personable host. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the highlights of Cape Coast.

Excellent experience. Be prepared to know what you want to buy and wear closed toe shoes if you are concerned about stepping in stuff. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew his way around. He even was kind enough to help us get back to our hotel. This market is not for going by yourself as a first timer.

I had read about Agbogbloshie in a new book called "Waste Wars," what happens to electronics and appliances from the West? Much of it ends up in Accra to be taken apart for the metals. People work hard to get anything of value and burn the plastic. The workers live across the river, and we walked through the neighborhood - though poor, it is a vibrant community, and I'm glad this tour exists.
