Our tour guide was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.She was incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about making our experience special.
What impressed us most was how she went beyond simply showing us the sights. My daughter is very interested in fashion, and our guide not only understood that interest but Juri was able to share fascinating insight into the evolution of Japanese fashion as well. She personalized the experience in a way that made my daughter feel especially engaged and made the tour memorable for us.
Her knowledge of Japan, its history, culture, and traditions was exceptional, but it was her warmth, enthusiasm, and willingness to go above and beyond that really stood out. There honestly wasn’t anything Juri could have done better.
She didn’t just give us a great tour, Juri made our trip to Japan better, and that is probably the best compliment we can give. We are incredibly grateful to have had her as our guide and would recommend her without hesitation.

Astuto was an amazing guide! I was traveling with my 3 kids (ages 17,19 and 22) and we all had a great time. Astuto helped us choose some terrific foods at the fish market and taught us so much about Tokyo. Take a fan! Highly recommend!

If you are going to be in Tokyo, book with Viator and request Yuki. He picked us up at our hotel and proceeded to give us the best tour possible! He was incredibly helpful, especially in managing the Tokyo subway. I would recommend him for anyone that is traveling to Tokyo for a tremendous personalized tour!!!!

Our adventure all around Tokyo was absolutely fantastic. It was easy to book and the communication from our guide, Lisa, was excellent. We were provided with a sample itinerary about a week before the tour and were able to customize it to add an additional location on our wish list. On the day of our tour, Lisa met us and confirmed our plan and we set off on a wonderful and educational day. Lisa took the time to know our interests and really connected with our 14-year-old, honing in on her fashion passion, without neglecting the adults. We were grateful for her knowledge of Japanese history. She took us all around the city in one day, covering a lot of territory as the locals do: On the Metro. (This is an excellent tour to do if you are hesitant about the trains since you get a real sense of how they run and how to use them with her guidance.) She also gave us ideas of what to do on our free days and sent us links during and after the tour on things to do, including places to go on the Shinkansen bullet train. Overall, this was a very memorable early introduction to Tokyo and Lisa made it excellent.

We did a tour with Lisa, it was a lot of fun! It was our first time in Tokyo, Lisa created a custom itinerary for us - we hit major attractions plus incorporated some of our interests like anime and great local food. Lisa was very knowledgeable on places we visited and shared a lot of cultural and local insights. Plus, having a private car taking us places in summer heat was a very nice bonus. Highly recommend the tour!

This is a walking tour using public transportation. It is customizable to your wants and needs. Naoki was a great guide and went above and beyond to guide and help us with whatever we needed. I have celiac disease and several food restrictions and he found a great restaurant and made sure that the food was safe for me to eat.

Great trip. Shuta did a really night job ferrying us around and guiding us to the sites we wanted to see. It was highly customized to share what interested us. I would highly recommend the car to drive you around on warm days.

I booked this trip for myself and my 22 year old son. Our guide was nice enough but didn't really give suggestions or really much information about the sights we were seeing. He really only gave information when we prompted him by asking questions. He didn't seem very invested in being a guide. He did not take any pictures as high quality pictures were part of the experience. We got to see a few things we wanted to see but the experience wasn't what others had experienced reading through the reviews. I assume it was just our guide not great but for the price we should have gotten alot more. We did another group walking tour through a different tour group for a fraction of the cost and it was amazing.
I would not suggest this experience!

Our tour of Tokyo was fantastic. My husband and I provided a few ideas of places we wanted to see, and our tour guide, Shuhei, put together a really great 4-hour itinerary for us. Really, it couldn't have been easier. He picked us up at our hotel, helped us navigate public transit, and was delightful company. We were staying in Shabuya, so we concentrated on stops close to that area. Shuhei took us to Takeshita Street, Meiji Shrine, a great view of the Shabuya crossing, and to a record store (we collect records on trips). He also took us to a more local, less touristy neighborhood for savory snacks, and the food was great! Our guide was super knowledgeable, very helpful, conscientious, and made navigating the things we wanted to see in Tokyo super easy. I highly recommend this tour. We had a great time. Thanks Shuhei!

A tour of Tokyo in summer with two teenagers is no small feat. Shuhei, our guide, made excellent suggestions on locations and cooling stops. He made the heat bearable, made the tour engaging to our kids, and gave us a true connection to the city. It was a perfect day.

Taiyo was an outstanding guide and a great introduction to Tokyo. He helped us navigate some of the city’s busiest streets and attractions with ease, which made exploring much less overwhelming.
Along the way, he shared fascinating insights into Shinto beliefs, Japanese culture, and the customs that shape everyday life in Japan. His explanations gave us a much deeper appreciation for the places we visited than we would have had on our own.
Taiyo was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to, and he was happy to answer all of our questions. I would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Tokyo, especially if it’s your first time and you want to better understand both the city and its culture.

Naoki is great. Show up early and very knowledgeable. He took us to the fish market early in the morning and try so many different foods. Overall is a great experience. Highly recommend this tour with Naoki.

Our guide spoke excellent English and was eager to make our tour as enjoyable as possible. We chose to go to Shibuya, have lunch at a local udon restaurant, and visit the beautiful Meiji shrine nearby. It was our first day in Japan. Shoei was very helpful and patient teaching us how to negóciate the trains ( especially in Shibuya, Soo confusing), and ordering on the internet menus at the restaurant…He shared information about the Meiji shrine ,its history , and the customs when one visits. It was a perfect choice for our first day in Japan.

Our guide Famu was terrible—we do not recommend this tour. He had limited knowledge of the history of Tokyo or Japan; he spoke from prepared talking points and was unable to answer many of our questions. He fell asleep on the subway as we made our way to Shibuya. At the end of the tour, he told us it was customary to tip private guides 30%-50%. We’ve enjoyed tours via Viator on several occasions but this was a disappointment.

For future guests, all of our guides receive training and are tested on Japanese history, culture, and local knowledge before leading tours. While every guide has their own presentation style, they are expected to provide accurate information and create an engaging experience.
We would also like to clarify that we do not have any company policy encouraging guides to request or expect tips, and we certainly do not instruct guides to suggest customary amounts such as 30–50%. If this occurred on one of our tours, we would take it very seriously and investigate the matter immediately.

An unforgettable day in Tokyo! Yuki was the ultimate guide for our group of seven, keeping three teenagers fully engaged the entire time. He walked us thru the history of Asakusa, to see Capybaras and other animals, and also into Akihabara for an incredible afternoon of anime shopping and a fun maid show experience. Yuki took all the stress out of navigating the city, tailored the day perfectly to our family's mix of interests, and was wonderful to be around. If you are traveling with a large family or teens, we highly recommend booking with Yuki!

We had a lovely day, with a very pleasant university student. Great kid.
That said, I had hoped for more. I have previously done tour in Japan with Nationally licensed guides and there are just so much more knowledgeable and able to share more in depth information about evening in the context of Japan and History.
So, despite thinking that the kid was excellent, I ultimately would not recommend this.

Be careful to book the correct tour if you need a car!! The ad reads that this tour has a private car, but it doesn’t unless you scroll to the bottom. On both forms I completed I told the tour operator that we were traveling with my 80 year-old father who is recovering from a hip injury at no time did they mention that we had not booked the private Karr option for the tour and instead we are now on a walking tour. Our guide Lisa was amazing and quickly asked if we could upgrade to car but it wasn’t an option. Instead she helped us navigate public transport via elevator, was amazingly patient, and made sure my dad could rest frequently. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the temples we saw and answered tons of questions my daughter had about shopping m etc. If not for the confusion with booking it would have been a 5 star review.

This is truly a customized experience. We were met at our hotel by our guide, Sota. His English was impeccable as was his knowledge of history and the city of Tokyo. You will be paying for your and his public transportation, a bargain in Tokyo. He was very patient with our speed , being a little older. He was open to changing the schedule as needed or preferred. So enjoyed his information and getting to know him. We were able to see everything we wanted plus some extras. He was very good at giving us directions on how we could navigate back to our hotel at the end of the tour. Learned so much. Loved the tour, highly recommend.

Ikuto-san was a fantatsic and very adaptable guide for our first ever visit to Tokyo! Our tour didn't start off with walk-friendly weather but he was very willing to work around the given conditions. We mainly centered our tour towards the more cultural and nature side of Japan with Akihabara and the Tokyo Skytree as the exceptions. The educational facts and linteractive quizzes he gave us as we headed towards each stop were very intriguing and interesting to learn about. He was efficient at answering any/all questions we had regarding Japanese life/culture. Communication all throughout the tour was very quick and efficient. Also, the food accommodations were incredibly delicious! Our family really enjoyed the tour and getting to know a little about Ikuto-san. I greatly recommend this tour for anyone that's looking to make the most out of their visit in Tokyo and spend some time with a local.
