We had a wonderful experience. Bob, the guide was so knowledgeable. We loved the entire trip. It was very relaxing and fun experience. Our kids are 15 and 9 and loved the trip. Even if you had no kayaking experience it’s the perfect trip. You could also take kids much younger.

Our guide Steven was fantastic. He shared his expert knowledge of Florida Mangroves throughout our kayak excursion and shared his passion for the animals and environment. We had a couple close encounters with Manatee!

Easy and fun kayaking in the Keys

Eryn_K, Apr 2026
Easy kayaking through mangrove tunnels of John Pennekamp park with a knowledgeable and very nice guide. Some experience is definitely required for a smooth trip even though the description says none is required. Bring extra water with you and sunscreen! We met at the Florida Outfitters to register then drove to the park and launch point. Our tour started late, and even though the guide said we would kayak later to make up the time, we ended on time which was disappointing. Regardless, my family (including the teenager) had a fun time. We are not super experienced kayakers, so having a guide to navigate the mangroves was perfect for us.

A Must Do in The Keys

Samantha_L, Mar 2026
What a fantastic experience to begin our vacation in The Keys. Steven was a wonderful guide who’s passionate about nature. He’s very knowledgeable about the ecosystem and spent time showing our group how to kayak. This is good for first time kayakers in the Keys. Thank you Steven for a wonderful, peaceful morning!

A great time

The guides are amazing and helpful. The organizers are very accommodating. You don't have to be experienced to enjoy the day on the water.

Amazing tour! Will definitely do it again!

Amy_J, Mar 2026
You have to do it! I have never kayaked before our tour guide Steven made it perfect. Learned about the ecosystem and wildlife along the way

We were lucky enough to get a private session with Jojo. He was an amazing tour guide and the trip was perfect at high tide going through the small tunnels. I don't think taking kids through the tunnels is a good idea, they are tight. Too tight to paddle through some. Worth the little extra for the guided tour. Without a guide I can see people getting lost and turned around in the mangroves.

It was great having a tour guide that explained a lot about the history and the wildlife we encountered. Bob was great!

An excellent excursion exploring the mangroves.

Wendy_M, Jan 2026
My daughter and I took this tour as we both wanted some time on the water, in kayaks. We were not disappointed. The itinerary and timetable were clearly communicated; our guide (Fitz) was well versed in both the area we were kayaking as well as Key Largo and surrounds. He was personable, helpful, and obviously enjoyed meeting and getting to know the people he was guiding. Water was provided before we left from the meeting place, and snacks offered for our time on the water. Once we came out of the water, towels for drying and wet cloths for cleaning our feet and legs were also provided. While the manatees were shy on this particular day, we did see a pair of mating ospreys, local jellyfish 'sunning' themselves in a shallower pool within the mangroves, and lots of fish. Ultimately, just being out on the water, in a purposeful but relaxing manner, was the best part of the day. Highly recommend both this particular tour as well as the provider. A highlight of our visit to the Keys! Thank you!

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for your kind words. We love Fitz too. Please come back soon.

Robert_P, Dec 2025
Small group tour in calm waters made for a great experience for my first kayaking excursion. We didn’t spot a lot of wildlife on my tour, but I’m sure it varies by day/season. If you enjoy being in nature and recognize it as an opportunity to see wildlife and not a guarantee, you won’t be disappointed.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you from all of us at Florida Bay Outfitters.

Two hours kayaking through the mangroves on South Salt Creek in the DP Coral State Park as it enters the ocean. JoeJoe is a knowledgeable guide and ensures the group stays together. Saw osprey, fish and jellyfish on the tour.

Fitz is the best guide!

Angie_s, Jul 2025
Very relaxing and guide was very knowledgeable. We had perfect weather and got to stop and look into the clear water to see all the plants and animals. All the staff worked well together in a very laid back environment. We were lucky and ended up being the only ones- we heard people cancelled due to the hot weather but it was amazing- had a cooling breeze and some clouds.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Everyone was very nice. It was a small group, and we were able to see a manatee! Just wish the mosquitoes were not so bad this time.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Sorry about the mosquitos. They were really bad this year. Worst in a long time. Please come back soon

Awesome Mangrove Tunnel Tour!

superstewardess, Jul 2025
Our family group of 5 had an awesome time on this trip! We had to wait for the rain to clear before setting off but that didn’t dampen our spirits. Our guide, Benny, was very knowledgeable and quick to point out interesting marine life & plants. We didn’t need to take our phones/cameras as he took loads of pics of us and shared them with us after the trip. Be vigilant with your bug spray & take it with you!! I definitely recommend this Mangrove Tour.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you!

Great tour for beginners

Mark_K, Jun 2025
Our family (with 2 kids, ages 11 and 14) had a great time on this tour! Janet was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable, patient and fun. Three of us had never kayaked before and had no trouble on the water. We encountered a mama manatee and her calf! We highly recommend this tour.

Unique Experience Kayaking Mangrove Tunnels

William_D, May 2025
The mangrove tunnels in the John Pennekamp state park, by kayak, is real treat, an experience that is very hard to find anywhere else. If you are a beginner to intermediate kayaker, this is for you. The pace is easy and there is plenty of time to take in the full breadth and beauty.
