Watch fish light up as you paddle while learning the science behind this magical natural wonder Meeting Location: Across from the Sun Bay Beach entrance/sign in Esperanza✨️ Meeting Time: 25 minutes before your scheduled tour time. We have a 10 min check-in window for all tours. Departure Policy: Tours run on schedule and depart at the end of the check-in window, exactly 15 min before your tour time. ✨️Vieques is a separate island from mainland Puerto Rico. We recommend booking ferry tickets online 2–3 weeks in advance. Overnight stay recommended :) Guests on the earliest tour can catch the latest ferry on weekdays at 9:30 PM. With provided kayaking equipment and instruction, simply follow your guide through the florescent waters and and learn about this natural phenomenon. Choose between an early or late evening tour; note that you must stay overnight on Vieques Island (not included).

Absolutely magical!

This tour was incredible! Our tour guide was awesome. Not only did he make us feel safe and secure, but he also gave us a ton of info on the marine biology, the history of the bay, and pointed out some constitutions, stars, and planets! As a city person, I was a little scared at first. It’s dark out and if your eyes aren’t adjusted, it’s a little hard to see at first. But the guides made me feel totally secure and they and the instructions were easy to follow. Your bottom DOES GET WET. So either wear a bathing suit or shorts you can get wet. To see the stars so clear above and the ‘stars’ in the water below- and the glowing water under your lap from the clear bottomed kayak was nothing short of magical. 10/10

Don’t think twice!

Great experience with a knowledgeable guide. 100% recommend! Make sure you look at the bottom of the kayaks, and wear something that you are fine getting wet. Skip the shoes as the short path is a muddy. Bug spray yourself. Fantastic experience! We considered going back the night after but time did not allow.

Amazing experience with...

Amazing experience with Adventure Vieques. They provided transportation from Esperanza to Mosquito bay where we took off in the kayaks. The clear kayaks allowed us to see the bioluminescence from underneath which was very cool. Our tour guide, Ivan, did a great job ensuring information and instructions were given to everyone (repeating everything in English and Spanish). Overall, an amazing experience!

Must-do on Vieques

A once-in-a lifetime experience. You see the stars and Milky Way above and the magical lights in the water. The catamaran offers a fabulous expansive view of the fish triggering the bioluminescence and you’re still able to stir the water with a pole to trigger the light yourself. It’s also easy to hear the guides and ask questions. They were extremely knowledgeable. If it rained that day, be prepared for mud and puddles walking to the launch from the shuttle van.
