What are people saying about Merida

Great experience from start to finish.
This tour is excellent value and exceptionally well-organised, packing so many incredible highlights into a single day. We received comprehensive instructions the day before, and having booked last minute, we were seriously impressed. Our guide, Juan, created a wonderful, inclusive atmosphere for the handful of English speakers, and Diego kept us comfortable and well looked after in a modern minivan.
Seeing the stunning pink waters and learning about the ecosystem was fantastic. Our guide was incredibly patient and kindly took the time to explain everything in English, which we deeply appreciated as we are in a Spanish and Mayan speaking area. Our boat captain, Martín, gave us an unforgettable experience viewing crocodiles and flamingos up close with total respect for nature. The swims, including the fun Mayan mud experience, were brilliant, and lunch was absolutely delicious with plenty of variety.
It was a fun and exhilarating day, respectful of nature and spent with a great group. Highly recommended.

A perfect tour
We are so used to tours that force you to go to a bad restaurant, a gift shop you have no interest in, etc, so when we found a tour that just took you to Uxmal, showed you around, and then returned you to Merida, we were really pleased.
What we hadn’t really expected was the quality of the guide. Kumen picked us up from the hotel and drove us to Uxmal and on the way gave us a deep dive into Mayan history, engaging our questions with an academic level of understanding. We genuinely learned so much off him about the Mayan world, wider mesoamerican history and the Spanish conquest. His English was perfect too.
Uxmal itself was also particularly impressive. The carvings are intricate and the main temple imposing. Like many people say, we much preferred it to chichen itza. It is much quieter with nobody harassing you to buy things, and feels truly secluded.
This was probably the best experience we booked in Mexico so I recommend it very highly.

This was a really good...
This was a really good tour, made excellent by our very knowledgeable tour guide Jorge. He had a great passion and shared lots of interesting information on not just the history of Uxmal but also of the local fauna and flora.
It was nice to share lunch with him and to pick his brains further, and he was happy to indulge our curiosities.
Then it was off to the Cenotes, which were both amazing in their own way. The first was not covered and had lots of fish in the crystal clear water. Jorge again was able to inform us of the local wildlife. The second one was more inside a cave, which was spectacular.
It was very hot on this day, so I would recommend bringing lots of water (although there are opportunities to purchase more on the day). Also, the facilities at the cenotes were very basic and not as 'polished' as the facilities at other cenotes. However, this is to be expected when going to such rural areas anywhere and didn't detract at all from the experience.

Great tour!
The tour was great. Chichen Itza is a must see, the buffet for lunch had some of the best cochinita pibil I've had in the Yucatán and Izamel is an awesome town. Mauricio our guide was great too. He was friendly and knowledgeable about all of the local history and culture.

Great tour and guides!
The pick up was punctual, the transportation was comfortable, and the tour guides were knowledgeable. Everything was fantastic! I was even able to book a second trip for two days later while on the tour which was also awesome! I highly recommend this company! I would definitely use them again and already have.

Amazing time with Alberto and Jose
A really great tour with Alberto and Jose. The large van is air conditioned which is critical with the heat and they continuously supplied cold water which is much appreciated.
Alberto seamlessly moved between Spanish and English explanations to accommodate different language speakers — providing the same thorough level of details to both.
They give you time at each site to explore, so you’ll enjoy it as much as you are willing to explore.
At Izamal we were able to walk up a pyramid, visit the monetary and check out some shops. The cenote was a great experience — it’s quite built out, but is a unique opportunity.
Chichén Itzá is just incredibly and jaw-dropping. Alberto spent an hour going through detail of Mayan history and up to contemporary land purchases and transfers.
I highly recommend this tour. Alberto and Jose were great and you’ll have the opportunity to explore places yourself while also learning a lot of context and history with the structure of a tour guide. It’s sort of the best of both worlds.

Incredible tour with Victor
A world-class tour with Victor. He has immense knowledge, pointed out unique details of various pyramids and structures you’d otherwise never know to look for or see. Seeing Sayil and Labná is really worth it.
Victor provided great conversation and is a great and safe driver. He also offered to take photos, which were all really thoughtful and different than a simple picture.
I would love to do this tour again to learn from Victor and see these incredibly well maintained architectural sites.

So glad I booked this, it was a special day in my Mexico trip which I won't forget
We had an amazing day in the Celestún Biosphere reserve, in summary:
- an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly guide (Mauricio/Maui/Meow) and driver, he memorised the 20 guests' names in seconds. Mauricio pointed out all of the interesting wildlife and clearly knew his stuff and cared about the important ecosystem we were visiting
- Coatis and many beautiful tropical birds as you leave the bus and head to the boat
- exhilarating boat ride that put a huge smile on my face. The boat had a shade screen and life jackets were provided for us all
- We saw many birds including Ospreys, various herons, cormorants, vultures, pelicans and we were lucky enough to see about 30 flamingos (these are seasonal so be aware of that!)
- short ride through a mangrove tunnel, we saw a juvenile tiger heron, many bright crabs and even a small freshwater crocodile up close!
- stopped offshore for a Mayan bath. Don't hesitate, please just do it, the water is beautifully warm and very buoyant. The muddy sand is clean and incredibly fine, you will feel great afterwards, I didn't want to get out of the sea
- a beautiful fresh lunch on a quiet beach with some down time to swim/drink cocktails, or just chat with other travellers (about an hour and a half). I had the coconut shrimp which was a very generous portion and extremely tasty with a lovely fresh mango dip. My wife had the shrimp quesadillas and enjoyed them too.
- Overall we felt very safe walking along the beach in Celestún, the locals were friendly

Diego was an amazing tour...
Diego was an amazing tour guide. Very wise, knowledgeable, and very funny. This was truly an incredible experience that highly benefits from a knowledgeable local tour guide. We would never have been able to navigate the local market on our own and try so many local specialties, not to mention the extremely special experience of learning how to cook traditional Yucatecan food from a local.

This was one of the...
This was one of the highlights of our trip!!! We are so many delicious foods and had such an amazing time. I would definitely recommend doing this to learn your way around Merida and to find out where there are authentic, delicious places to eat!
We brought our 2 kids (6&8) with us and they loved it as well!

A nice day exploring Mayan sites
It’s an excellent way to see two important Mayan sites and the height of the Puuc style, UXMAL and KABAH; our guide Pedro was excellent, very knowledgeable and impressively guiding in both English and Spanish. The lunch was really tasty and the museum of chocolate very interesting - highly recommend the cold/fredo chocolate drink at the cafe.

Great tour and guide
It was a nice day. The cenotes were fantastic. The guide was excellent. I was the only native English speaker and could understand his Spanish but he made sure I understood everything. He expertly handled a very difficult situation with a 20 year old girl on our tour who decided that having 10 tequila shots was a good idea.

Merida is a colorful, playful city with deep roots in Maya culture. Some of Mexico’s best food is here, with cochinita pibil, panuchos, and sopa de lima among them. But many visitors also use the city as a jumping-off point for majestic archeological zones such as Chichen Itza and lesser-known Uxmal and Kabah. Merida tours allow you to do everything even in limited time—go on a food walk, visit the ruins, and dip in a cenote.
