Chef Luk led a terrific class teaching our class of 6 to prepare a 3 course meal. We did the market experience with him and loved the cheeses tasting in the fresh open market. Chef taught much more than recipes. He showed how to properly chop, cut, carmelize, brown, cook and season. We highly recommend.the class.

Overview

Indulge in a true gourmet French experience: preparing, cooking, and enjoying your own 3-course meal. Choose between a 4.5- or 6-hour Paris culinary course (a 1.5-hour market visit is optional) then set out to learn the tricks and techniques of French cooking. An instructor will help you through the steps of creating an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. French wine is also included with your gourmet lunch.

This Paris Cooking Class and Lunch with Wine was one of the highlights of our trip. Fred was fantastic—warm, engaging, and clearly very talented. He made the class fun, informative, and easy to follow, and everyone in our group of 10 had a chance to participate in preparing the meal. The menu was outstanding: a delicious cauliflower soup, salmon, beautifully prepared Parisienne-cut vegetables, potatoes gratin, and an amazing Tarte Tatin for dessert. Everything we made was absolutely delicious. The company, the wine, and especially the food made for such a memorable experience. We left happy, full, and so glad we booked this class. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paris.

What a great day! We had cooking school that included a trip to the market! We also hit the the fish monger and fromagerie. We learned about labeling organic, what drives fish prices, how to tell the age of oysters and so much more!!! It was truly a taste of Paris! We returned to the school and had various stations for dicing, peeling, poaching and scooping! In the end, we cooked a cauliflower soup with leeks and garnished with curry toasted flowerettes. Our main course was a Scottish salmon with a bleurblanc sauce topped with spheres of carrots, turnips, cucumbers (I know, wild!) and scalloped potatoes with tarragon and nutmeg! This was accompanied by a succulent that was salty and crunchy. Dessert was peaches with a raspberry sauce and custard ice cream. Yes, we had wine!! Thank you so much, Luc for sharing your passion! Your stories about the cheese, the dessert, your travels were the perfect addition to our meal! It was nice that you actually let us cook! Today we made memories I will cherish forever! I have never thought of cooking a cucumber! I amy even change my mind about nutmeg but I will certainly approach seasoning and sauces differently. This class was everything and more that I could have wanted! Merci beau coup! 🍷🍷🇫🇷

HIGHLIGHT on our Paris trip! We loved every second and the food was amazing!! Our chef was the BEST and so engaging, personable and funny! I have already told several people about this experience that are traveling to France...I think one booked while we were there! Can't wait to make the recipes again...especially the au gratin potatoes...nothing like them! So good...highly recommend and you also meet the nicest people! I have take a lot of cooking classes in my day and this was my top fave!

A very fun informative day with Frederic

We had time to kill before an evening flight and signed up for the cooking lesson (would have liked to go on the market tour before hand but couldn’t get there in time). Frederic was so much fun and taught me so much even though I consider myself a good cook. We participated in all three courses: sautéed mushrooms; salmon with beurre blanc, scalloped potatoes with lots of nutmeg, and glazed carrots and cucumber balls; and a poached pear with chocolate sauce and home made vanilla ice cream. Rarely have I seen people make cooked cucumbers which I do love. Fredric was not only knowledgeable about the food and wine but also fielded questions that we posed that were all over the board. He imparted a sense of French cooking as well as wine by region. He had a good sense of humor and made the day very entertaining. I learned new techniques in regard to how to use a whisk properly to make an emulsion as well as how to properly layer scalloped potatoes. Because of his personality, the time went too fast, but we left we a full stomach and gratitude for our day with Frederic.

My husband and I loved everything immediately. The decor starting with the dining table, chairs, linens and the comfortable setting was so very French. The 8 other people in our group were awesome. One couple lives 30 minutes from us in the United States. The food was INCREDIBLE! We highly appreciate!

Best cooking class in Paris

My husband and I came with another couple from the States for a visit and attended the lunch and wine with market visit cooking class. Paulo was our chef and he was GREAT! First, he took us to the fresh outdoor market where we sampled some cheeses that he gave us a great lesson about and we also picked up all of our ingredients. Next, we went back to the facility and we prepared our meal and dessert. Our menu was onion soup, salmon with a shallot cream sauce sprinkled with cooked carrot and cucumber balls, scalloped potatoes (amazing!) and poached pears with chocolate ganache served with homemade vanilla ice cream (made by us!). Everything was fantastic! Loved that the class was all hands on. I highly recommend this class! My husband and I did a class elsewhere a few years back and we didn’t get to do any cooking, so this class at LeFoodist was awesome! We will do it again when in Paris.

This Seine river cruise is fabulous. This was our second time doing this cruise and I’ll do it every time I’m in Paris. We had the most delicious, beautifully presented gourmet lunch and enjoyed the wine and lovey scenery. The staff are always so welcoming and accommodating. We love that it ends at the Eiffel Tower and we can go sit on the banks of the Seine and relax and enjoy.

A worthwhile experience if you like cooking or even Parisian food

This class is so much fun! Hands on and educational. Chef Frederic took us through the steps, from our shopping at the market, to prep and then cooking to make delicious lunch. He spent time explaining the some of the "whys" behind what we were doing. It is a class that all levels can take something away while learning to cook Parisian food.

Don’t think, just Buy

Worth every penny. If you’re on the fence about doing this cooking class, let this review alleviate any concerns. This was hands down one of the best activities that we did in Paris and one of the best cooking classes I’ve ever taken (and that’s said by someone who always takes cooking classes when they travel). The entire experience was fun, rewarding, and I learned a lot about the science of cooking. Frederick was our host and chef and he was incredible - knowledgeable, funny, warm, and knows how to make everyone feel included. Recommendation 1 is to take the full class with the market tour, it makes the cooking class that much more enjoyable. Recommendation 2 is to not schedule a nice dinner later in the evening when you take this class because you will be full the rest of the day. Potential concerns: allergies / food dislikes. Don’t worry, the chef will ask and take any and all concerns into consideration. They went to the nearby market and bought toasted almond milk to substitute for cream when someone in our group was dairy free. Insanely accommodating. All this to say - buy this class, fit it into your Paris schedule, you will not be disappointed.

It’s a full experience with a market place experience and a super chef, Luc. He was highly trained in culinary expertise and very patient with all of us (10 in class) as we gleaned from his wisdom. I felt like he wasn’t just our teacher but blended with us as a friend who truly cared about us and our experience. It was pure joy and a delightful day with an an amazing lunch and wine to share.

Informative, Collaborative, and Delicious

The day began with a trip to a local food market, where we were given an overview of the history of food in Paris, agriculture in France, and how to determine the ratings and origins of various goods. Then we had a brief lesson on the five main types of French cheeses, with an accompanying tasting! The cooking class was broken down very clearly: we were walked through stations that each had one focus ingredient, and the steps on how to prepare them were explained thoroughly before anyone started cooking. Everyone got to choose what they did, and many of us ended up working together with others as the ingredients were added to the dishes. The end result was a two-course meal with a two-part dessert, and was one of the best meals I had in Paris during my ten-day stay! I will be preparing a few of the dishes for my friends and family at home, for certain: they were easy to make, but the results were incredible!

Great cooking class! Chef Luc was so patient, attentive, and very knowledgeable. He answers all your questions, gives pointers and demonstrates.
