Difficult to find the meeting point. The person at the meeting point only took the group to the bus and didn't know anything about the tour and didn't ride with the bus to the site. The bus driver (very friendly) didn't speak any English and didn't know anything about the tour either, not even what time to pick up the group afterwards. Driver dropped the group off at a restaurant parking lot close to Pompeii and left. Tour guide didn't show up for at least 30 min. Nice guy but very reserved and didn't accompany the group back to the parking lot after he was finished. Short 1.5 hour tour. Terribly unorganized. Can't recommend this one.

First, regarding the meeting point at Naples Port, it is situated directly in front of the cruise terminal, which is the mandatory exit path for all cruise passengers disembarking the ships. To ensure it is as straightforward as possible, we always provide a precise Google Maps link and the exact name of the location in the booking voucher.
Regarding our staff roles, we would like to clarify that the person at the port is a meeting point coordinator, whose sole responsibility is to check in guests and escort them to their vehicle, not to act as a tour guide or travel on the bus. Similarly, the bus driver is responsible exclusively for safe transportation. It was this young driver's very first time on this specific itinerary; while she was very friendly, she unfortunately lacked the experience to smoothly handle customer questions outside of her driving duties. We have already addressed this with our transport team.
Regarding the drop-off, the parking lot near the restaurant/site is the standard, mandatory area where all commercial tour buses must park in Pompeii. Our staff always coordinates to meet the groups there, and we regret the communication gap that caused a delay before your guide arrived.
Regarding the tour itself, we must clarify that the guided tour inside Pompeii lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes, exactly as advertised in our product description. It is standard practice for archaeological guides to conclude their service at the end of the historical route inside the ruins, leaving guests the freedom to spend a few minutes at the site or walk back to the parking lot independently for departure.

Very poorly organized excursion. Directions to meeting point were unclear and we needed to contact provider for further clarification. Got loaded on a bus and dropped off in a parking lot with no other information. Several people contacted the provider and we were told that a guide was on his way. Tour itself was not very well organized. Tour guide was difficult to understand and was describing certain highlights while half the group could not see what he was describing to the group. Bus driver left 2 people behind and needed to be told by the group. She stopped and one of the group had to run back to get the 2 people that had been left behind.
Only positive in my mind is that Pompei is an incredible site.
Don’t waste your money on this tour.

Lastly, concerning the tour itself, Pompeii is an immense and crowded archaeological site, especially during the peak summer season. Our guides try their best to position large groups in spots where everyone can see, but due to the narrow Roman streets and the heavy flow of other independent tourists, visibility can sometimes be temporarily obstructed for those at the back of the group.

We met and boarded a non-luxury/non-air conditioned bus. The bus left us in a parking lot with no directions on where to go or who we were meeting. Guide showed up late and was coughing entire time. Difficult to hear through the headphones as he spoke very quietly and was coughing. Tour was about 2 hours with 30 minutes to grab a bite and get back to the parking lot to board the same bus (still no a/c). We took off, and passengers noticed that the driver left behind 2 people (one was a child). Driver stopped and a passenger ran to get them and bring them to the bus. The lack of communication and inaccurate tour description are disappointing. Find a different tour. Do not book this one.

The air conditioning system on the bus was fully operational and running at its maximum setting. However, when a coach is completely full and the intense summer sun beats directly through the large windows, the perceived indoor temperature can unfortunately feel much warmer, despite the AC working as it should.
Regarding the logistics and the departure mishap, we sincerely apologize. This was the very first time on this specific itinerary for our young female driver. While we understand that a low voice can be frustrating, it is really not fair or kind to penalize a professional guide simply because they happen to be coughing or feeling unwell. The experience itself was great and our tour guide of Pompeii was amazing. The company seemed out of sorts with travel to and from Pompeii and we ended up leaving 30 minutes late but other than that it was a great time.

Great trip, fantastic guide in Pompeii - Francesco who was very engaging, informative, as an ex archaeologist from Pompeii very knowledgeable and to cap it off had a good sense of humour.
The only downside was the information regarding the initial meeting point which was very vague. It needs to be more specific as we took nearly 30 mins to find the tour representative and 1 person missed the tour as was unable to locate the group
Other than this one issue was a great and not to be missed trip

I thought we saw a good amount of parts of the ruins and the education was good I learned a lot. The reason I give it 4 stars is because I think the group was too big and some of the parts felt rushed. If you got stuck behind someone exploring independently you lost connection to the headset and that happened several times. If you’re in the back of the line by the time it takes you to get into the smaller spaces they guide is already moving on.

The guide we had at Pompeii was excellent. She was very well informed and had lots of good information for us. I was a little disappointed in our bus driver. The itinerary said we would pass several spots along the way and maybe we did, but he never pointed anything out.

Our tour with Lucia was good! It would have helped to stop a bit more and ensure everyone in the group was with her so we could have all heard what she was explaining. The pick up location from the cruise terminal was hard to find with the smallest sign

Tour guide at Pompei was super engaging, very knowledgeable and easy to understand.
Individual headphones provided worked really well. Could not fault the experience.
However…the tour operator at the port did not travel with us but simply checked and chased those passengers not arriving on time.
This wouldn’t have been a problem but our mini bus broke down on the way (appreciate these things can happen) but it is likely this was due to poor driving from the driver heading out of the port over pot holes resulting in damage to the suspension and dangerous levels of smoke coming from the vehicle. The driver continued to drive down the motorway despite this in an attempt to make it to the exit. He didn’t speak any English and only stopped when several passengers shouted at him several times and insisted him to stop by getting out of seats and standing over him.
Having the tour operator on the minibus may have helped to manage the situation better, keeping everyone calm and updated.
We proceeded to stand on the side of the motorway for 30 minutes with no updates/ reassurance provided.
Luckily another minibus turned up and we still made it to Pompei but whilst all safe and sound it was a scary and unsafe experience.

I would highly recommend this tour. It was just the right amount of time to see the highlights of Pompeii. Our guide Imma was excellent. She took her time as we walked through the ruins at Pompeii, giving people time to catch up and not rushing the group. She was very knowledgeable and patient with questions, making the experience interesting and informative.
I would suggest that the meeting place should be better defined. The tour rep tried very hard to guide us but we found it very confusing to find.

It's a lot of walking and it's hot. Other than that it was great. Awesome sight to visit. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and moved at a good pace. Was aware of those that needed extra time. She also provided time for photos, but bathroom breaks and water. Overall it was a good experience would use Viator again.

Felicia was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history of ancient Pompeii as well as the current events surrounding ongoing excavations. She answered everyone’s questions and was very thoughtful of the tour guests. For those taking this tour, be prepared to walk and wear sun screen. Taking the Viator provided bus from the cruise terminal was easy and took a lot of anxiety out of trying to find a way to get to the site on your own. Highly recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful time with our guide Felicia. She was very knowledgeable and told interesting and compelling stories about the excavation of the site. Pompei lived up to all my expectations. I was very impressed with the grounds The pick up and drop off were convenient, although the pick up was a little confusing. Maybe explain the snack bar is still inside the port complex. We walked past it along with others on the tour. That was the only hiccup on a great day.

The meeting location for guided tour was a freaking mystery! Asked several local operators and showed out tickets information and told 4 different locations to wait for guide. Looked for sign with name of tour operator, since so many and still no luck! Called the number and placed on hold, then emailed a link where guide was waiting for us, the picture was old, not current, and locals told us a couple places to wait as they tried to help, but didn’t recognize name. Want full refund. FRUSTRATED!

The tour guide Francesco is excellent. He is very knowledgeable professional and friendly. He also has a good sense of humor.
However the instruction to the meeting point is very confusing. We were told to get direction from Google Map. Google Map is not updated since 2018 and the street view is completely different. It took us 20 minutes to finally find it.

Having done this only 6 months ago with another group, I was able to compare and Viator by far exceeded all expectations! Our guide, Francesco, was an archeologist who actually worked on the ruins at Pompeii! He was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining during this tour. You can’t come to this area and not visit Pompeii!
